Thank you so much for posting this video, Erina! I´ve been a homeschooled kid as well, and everything you said was deeply relatable. It´s amazing to hear about other homeschooling experiences, since especially in my country is something quite taboo. Keep shining🧡

Hi, thank you so much for sharing this with me! I’m so happy to connect this way with another homeschooled kid 😭❤️ where I’m from, these topics are still taboo as well. I think we’re on the same page without even talking, I’m happy this video found you, and you found this video 🥰🪷🪷

I was homeschooled, and I think mostly positively about it, especially since so many people I've known speak generally negatively about their public school experiences. But I also just have complicated thoughts on my childhood in general and have distanced myself so much from the kind of community in which I was raised, and I find people in the world have such strong opinions and I'm often afraid to disagree. If/when I have kids in the future, I'm not sure how I'll choose to have them schooled, but I really appreciate your positive framing here, and how you speak of the beauty involved because a lot of the time I'm focused on the negatives of all sides, and I feel mostly fear of mistakes and things being ruined.

Hi Josiah! First of all, thank you for sharing your experiences here, it really speaks to me and what I’ve gone through. I definitely relate so many of the points you made, including the point about hearing people’s bad experiences with public schools, and often being afraid to disagree when faced with strong opinions. We’re on this journey together, and you can’t change what you can’t acknowledge, at least we’re at a point where we’re acknowledging things :) Whatever choice you make if/when you have kids, I’m sure you’ll do the right thing, because you seem very thoughtful, introspective and open minded. I wish you all the very best and thank you so much for your kind words about the video ❤️🙏🌹😌

Your story reminded me of my adolescence. I was never home educated and was at boarding school between the ages of 10 and 16. I was ostracised by the other girls, ate alone and had no friends and I didn't know how to socialize with my peer group, even though I'd had friends before my parents moved house and I'd started boarding. I also always found socializing with adults easy. When I was 16 I started going to a local school and some girls decided that I would be their friend and it took a few months for me to trust them. They are still my friends now and I'm very grateful for their kindness to the strange, new girl 😊

Hi Tessonya, Thank you so much for taking the time to write your story! It’s strange how looking back we can notice these things we couldn’t before. I’m happy things turned around for you, but it’s so tough to go through isolation from 10-16, I feel your pain. How wondrous that simply changing the environment we can find new friends and almost reinvent ourselves. I’d like to share this quote with you “Friendship is a sheltering tree”, as much as you see yourself back then as a strange, new girl who was offered a sheltering tree, those friends from before, who are still your friends, have found shelter underneath your tree as well. Wishing you all the very best and thank you again for sharing your story with me, it means so much ! ❤️😌🪷🙏🌹

Interesting ability to *eloquently * expand on your thoughts you show. The learning process itself seems to be very known by you. Homeschooling as 'an antidote' that takes out some of the good and the bad bacteria, stood out to me as an example. Maybe homeschooling would have done me well, but I learn it's not all 100% roses necessarily. Take care

I went to public school and got social anxiety. These stories make me it want to homeschool for the later grades.

Thank you for sharing your experience. I have a few questions. What ages were you homeschooled? Why did your parents home school you in the first place? Why did you re-enter high school? You said you found it difficult to socialise when you returned to school - did you not have regular socialisation with children when you were home schooled? Eg home ed groups? Cousins? Friends? How many hours per week do you think you were able to spend socialising? I am likely to be homeschooling my 9 year old soon as he hates school. I think I can plan in 3 afternoons a week for him to be at social group/play/downtime with peers and am wondering if this is enough. Thank you for your thoughts. ❤

@@erinafenix Cyrillic was the first letter system we had learned in my part of ex-Yugoslavia :) Curiously, I learned to read Latin alphabet first,pre-school, thanks to a car magazine I was receiving from Slovenia and when we got an option to use any of them in 2nd year of elementary school, I instinctively switched back to Latin to write assignments (again, blame it on English,French and German car magazines :) )
