I appreciate all the info! I'm definitely saving this video. Yesterday I bought an 86 with a 460 and a parts truck with a zf5 for only $500! The 86 has definitely seen better days but I have a Cummins that needs a home so it works out well. I have alot of work to do, but this info helps out tons and will save me lots of money. The ZF5 trans can handle WAY MORE than 420 lbs ft of torque

I am sure it can, especially if I’m not towing. It’s just not worth the risk to me.

I've read it can handle 750-800tq no problem

​@andrewgoltl1971 Not worth the risk? There's guys out there pushin 6-800hp with a zf5 & zf6 trannys daily. Just imagine how much tq that is
