I've watched dozens, if not hundreds, of "what to know before buying an 80" videos, and the advice you give is the most salient and practical. Would like to know more details about the "new issues every time I took it out on the trail" comment. Do you recall what kind of issues specifically?

Good, honest video. The 40th Sage is one of the most desirable editions. Stock condition is far more appealing to me. I think it's a shame that so many 80s get modified unnecessarily. Definitely more likely to have issues with a lifted, heavier truck. I know, it's difficult to decouple the ego from the intellect at times.

Nice Truck you did great. Bought a HDJ81 VX LTD Diesel 12 years ago. It was modified like yours. Recently changed to stock and its completely better to drive, has more power and better fuel economy. Other than looks would never go back.

Just bought a 40th triple locked cruiser in great shape with 245K on the clock. Definitely excited to build it out eventually.

HA - We have two cars. The 97 and Civic! I'm still deep in the maintenance before mods phase. 200k is a lot of miles on the original parts. Trying to swap as much as I can with OEM before those parts dry up.

Great stuff man. And definitely a wise move to perform as much maintenance as possible before modding. Probably the best combination you could have in terms of longevity 👌

I’ve had my 80 for almost 2 years. The first year I fixed all the maintenance issues and then some. I’ve now lifted and placed bumpers on it as well as some extra stuff. My question is, what are the maintenance issues you ran into that you had mentioned?

How much would a stock exterior but has had its suspension overhauled with aftermarket?

The bigger wheels cost more , cause more drag , uses more fuel , puts more stress on the drive line , slows the car down and adds more weight Australia 🇦🇺

Strange how this video just popped up on the feed. I am traveling south from Ohio tomorrow to look at and possibly buy a 1990 HDJ81 JDM Land Cruiser. 🧐😁

@@tadeuszmichaelwlodarczyk3120 The EPA. In the US we have very stringent emissions regulations. NOx is the biggest restriction and the diesels offered in most vehicles produce far too much.

@VTOffRoadAdventures6 ай бұрын
@@tadeuszmichaelwlodarczyk3120 Nope. Mexico has different environmental regulations than the US. You can drive across and stay for a number of months but it can't be legally registered here for various reasons. If you illegally register it here and get caught you are in a world of hurt and the vehicle gets crushed.
