Beautiful photographs Nur! I have just purchased this lens but am a little worried as I have an A7III and am concerned I might not get sharp, quality images - do you think it will still do a good job or should I consider upgrading? Thanks again!

Thank you so much! With regard to the lens, it is a proven lens for birding as you can see from my Flickr page images. The a7III is an older camera (5 year old technology) but can still pack some good results. However, if you’re looking for bird-eye AF, then the latest a7IV should fit the bill. It has a newer processor and packs a 33MP image resolution. You can google the comparisons between the two for more detailed information. Good day!

Fantastic pictures! Definitely the lens I am eyeing for with it being an internal zoom. It has a much shorter and smoother throw than its external zoom counterparts. But, I am not sure what body to go with at this point. The A1 is really more than what I would like to spend and the A7R IV is beginning to feel a little dated now that Canon has launched the R5. I am hoping Sony will give the A7R V a faster frame rate like 20 fps.

Most of my bird images were taken with SONY a9, and later SONY a9II, a 24MP camera. Now waiting for the a1 to arrive in Malaysia. 😅

We share the love for the same birds.....trogons, so far I have 4 species....all, except red-headed trogon, I captured in Kuantan area. Hope to get Cinnamon-rumped and Orange-breasted Trogons soon.

Haha! Thanks doc. Red-headed easiest to find in FH, orange-breasted easiest in Bukit Tinggi and The Gap (FH). Cinnamon-rumped is the tough one ;-)

Great lens, works very well, However, the f6.3 in low light conditions and for subject isolation is the negatives. Other than that a good lens.

Thanks for your comments, Jakes. I would have to increase the ISO to make up for the aperture shortfall. For the value, I believe it is well worth it. Of course, nothing compares to the f4 primes 😉

Haha! That is a Leofoto LS-365C carbon fibre tripod with Leofoto PG-1 gimbal head, covered in protective custom-made camouflage cover ;-)

What is you opinion using this lens with a6600 crop body for wildlife. Do we get good shallow?

Hi! You can still get some decent depth of field from 600mm at f/6.3. Of course, you can't compare it with full frame cameras, but, generally it is acceptable. I've got a long-time birder friend who uses the a6600 with the SEL200600G.

Of course, you have the cropped factor of 1.5x, which means you have a range of 300mm-900mm.

Wassalam. Ikut your height, tuan. Kalau tinggi macam saya 167cm, LS-324C tu agak pendek. Sebab tu saya gunakan LS-324CEX. Lebih tinggi. Saya boleh suggest LS-365C untuk you, kalau height you sama macam saya

Thank you, David. AF works flawlessly with the 1.4TC (unlike the 2.0TC). AF speed is almost as fast as just using the lens alone.

I have been researching this lens, but it seems that there are problems when this lens is paired with the A&R IV. Have you had any issues with the combination that you have?

@TheFoxwiz I have the 200-600 and have used it on the A1 and the A7RIV - most of the time in combination with the Sony 1.4X teleconverter. I have had no issues with the lens at all (I purchased my A7RIV in early 2020 and have a feeling that the problems were with earlier production runs of the A7RIV). The only difference I have noticed is that autofocus on the A1 is superior to the A7RIV, but otherwise, very little difference in image quality.
