I’m an 85 baby so when I got introduced to Bobby and Flava video, I was around 11-12yrs old. I always remembered him for smoking the cigarettes, being animated, the call ins, and how he played Missy Elliott’s Rain video 3xs in a row!!!! 😂😂😂😂 I loved this show and only thought he was known for that, but sitting here almost an hour in, I had noooooo idea this man was in a group and had this long history!!!! This is the type of shit I love to sit back and listen to, the history of Hip Hop and behind the scenes connections. How could you not love hearing these stories and seeing how great the 80s and 90s music scene and falling in love with it? Maybe it’s just me, but this whole pod, especially the sleeveless leather jacket!! 😂😂😂😂😂 Math please do more interviews like this, it’s hella nostalgic and brings me back to catching his show after junior high school…hitting the store for snacks and then hitting the tv line ups 💪🏽👏🏽 Shouts to Mecca, I admire his wealth of knowledge on music and production. I can talk to ppl like this all day 💪🏽

Bobby on this label stuff and inside the industry stuff. Publishing the 2 books whatever. He knows what he talking about. I’ll definitely recommend signing with Bobby Simmons or have him managing if you an artist with him. Despite everyone thinking he only has a comedic persona to everyone. He definitely knows what he’s talking about. I definitely have him as my entertainment lawyer or look over my books or something if I were a artist or working in the entertainment industry. He’s so smart with that’s stuff.

I found Flava Videos by making an antenna out of old cable wire and aluminum foil trying to get whatever channels i could until Time Warner could come hook our cable up. Every day after school, i'd unhook the cable and put that janky antenna back in and watch. The Pu Tang Pu Tang, Gimme the Loot and that Scared Straight shit was my shit LOL

Fresh Fess Tour was in '84 Fresh Fess II was in '85, Bobby wasn't with StetsaSonic in the beginning, he just said it was only 4 members, soooooo, 3mc's, one left the group early, disputes and 1 DJ. Plus Bobby didn't play drums on Go Stetsa, it waMuslim guy, also, Ralph McDaniels already was shooting amateur promo videos, before Bobby, he tells tall tales, but quite entertaining. As per. Bobby simmons original Juice Crew claims.. The name "Juice" originated with Mr. Magic, who dubbed himself "Sir Juice." Sal, Mr. Magic, rap stars Kurtis Blow, Melle Mel, Grandmaster Flash, Whodini and June Bug were all members of the first Juice Crew.🤷🏾

Stetsasonic, won a contract with Sugar Hill, records, (Contest) this was even before member Fruitkwan was in. So it was way before Bobby time, he's really repeating what he heard here... Why add yourself to The early truth, I'm sure folks would love to hear the real truth of how he actually joined Stet.Daddy-O brought him in & the idea wasn't always understood or welcomed by other members...but after a while they got it. Never understood how Daddy-S word overruled everyone else, when M.C. Delight is also a founding member, but its also why the original 3rd guy left...

I'm sorry Bobby, 1986 was too late to be rockin' that kinda gear. LL had already dissed it. You were just special, a legend..😎 I remember Stetsasonic & Public Enemy opening for LL on his B.A.D. Tour. Stet was like a Hip Hop Temptations and Public Enemy ignited the crowd with "Rebel Without A Pause". I don't know how the crew couldn't hear Stet's influence on "Trap". This was a great interview, class was in SESSION!

We did a show down here in Houston with Luke and Eric B & Rakim in 1987 it was in the Maceba Theater. The group was The Chosen Few. Each group only had a couple songs out but Luke wouldn’t perform or (2Live Crew) because he didn’t get his backend but had to come back under contract when he was paid a month later and at that show he discovered the RNB group HTOWN. I’m still cool with Brother Marquis he was actually living in LA when they got hot and is originally from Rochester. He’s absolutely right about Houston bumpin that Stetsa and PE heavy.

2:01:00 Bobby older brother knew the business, James Simmons Jr.Why is he just saying family member, I always thought they should have been a production team. But both very stubborn. Plus as you can hear, Bobby wasn't signed to StetsaSonic, Like Jam Master Jay wasn't actually signed to Run-DMC, Hmmmmm, I wonder if Prince Paul was signed to the group. 🤔Thom was right on one point, the 'Hood said back then,Prince Paul should have done most of the production, StetsaSonic producing skills were mediocre. We always wondered how Paul down with this group & they're a "B" rated group to say the most. They were giving Fruitkwan a hard time since The Self Destruction song."why was he all up on the camera 📷", minute stuff like that 🤷🏾 You hear between the Lines,Must be big egos for Bobby to make his "Pu-Tang" single..👎🏾 "Blondie", was the name of a group, Debra Harry was the lead singer Bobby.
