Thank you for sharing this. I had my pre-op yesterday and was told because my corneas are thin and my prescription is so high, I am not a candidate for lasik. They said I would have to get PRK but I also can consider Visian ICL. I am seriously considering doing ICL as the downtime or PRK is worrying me.

@@kiarashshamekhi5332 I actually decided not to go with any procedure for the time being. I was told that for PRK, I should expect to have issues working on the computer for up to a month, and that my vision would fluctuate for months after. I did not think it was worth burning through my PTO to recover, and it wouldn’t even be enough time for my vision to settle. My job is 99% on the computer so there is no way I was willing to do this.

@@kiarashshamekhi5332 I also decided not to do ICL. It was twice the price of PRK and all the research I did online suggested that permanent halos and issues with headaches and eye pressure was a thing. I also joined a FB group for ICL complications and there were many people complaining about eye issues and asking each other if their issues were considered normal. There were also people on there who had the ICLs removed and they experienced irreversible damage in their vision like loss of color or permanent halos from the iridotomy. Also, there were quite a few folks on there who had the ICLs for under 10 years and had cataract fluid build up, so they had to go back to their doctor and get that cleared out. I could not justify spending that much money to bring on inevitable health issues.

Ive thought about getting lasik but im honestly so afraid and glasses have been apart of my life and feel its a part of who i am. Then again it would be a good change
@DrKaylaTeh3 жыл бұрын
if you're confident in specs, and wearing them doesn't affect your daily life, you can choose not to get your vision corrected ! :) But for me it was a life-changer haha!

Can a person with a very thick cornea and high eye pressure (which results in a relativelly normal iop reading after calculating with the Goldmann method) have an ICL-operation done ?

Hey! I am getting my ICL in 2 months and looking forward to! I‘m a dental hygienist and a bit nervous with the light sensitivity afterwards. How did you exporience that while treating patients after your surgery? Did it bother you?
