Eddie, in the UK we call it Bell's Palsey. I got it twice within 4 years (the doctors told me i had more chances of winning the lottery than getting it twice in 4 years, lol), completely at random. On the Physical side of things, the nerve endings in the one side of your face die out , thats why your face drops like that & it will take 2-6 months for them to grow back fully. Doctors will probably give you some low level steroids to help with the regeneration. Good news is that full recovery is almost gaurenteed. (there are some tiny side effects like some nerve endings rewire incorrectly, but you probably wont even notice and wont be visable) Also, massaging your face helps with stimulating nerve ending growth, consider making part of your daily routine. Even maybe grab one of those massage guns. As for the mental side of things, i know from experience that it is scary and super stressfull. But you will be ok, i had to wear an eye patch like pirate for 5 months because i couldn't blink, lol. But i fully recovered twice and you will too. We don't realise how vein we are until something like this happens. Now, the only doctor in the world who has done modern research into Bell's Palsey is actually a Japanese Doctor and even though his research was inconclusive. He theorised that it may be caused via something to with your ear canal & ear infections. Something to maybe talk to your doctor about and look after your ears more. Dude, i know you're stressed about recovery, i went through it all. But you are going to be back to normal. i promise. Just be patient and keep taking the tablets and dont be lazy, keep massaging your face. peace

Thx for writing this message, Eddy will be relieved to read it. Good luck to you Eddy, this is unfortunate, especially in terms of timing, but you will learn a lot from it. Stay positive. I know how it feels to be living alone in Japan, sometimes it is hard and depressing. But you will be alright. For plans about your future, you have time for it. Just reorganise yourself, if u like Japan, you can always find a way to get another visa at some point. But for now, just focus on your health, physical health AND mental health. Stay positive, as @Propa_Ganda_Panda said, you will go back to normal. Stay strong man!

Hey Eddie I had this happen to me when I was 21. I’m 41 now. It sucks especially brushing your teeth 😂, but I was able to recover. I do have some quirks with my face like one of my eyes squints harder when I smile but you can’t tell unless you really look hard. Nothing you can really do but take the steroids and wait it out. Be prepared for really bad headaches though. The doctors told me as the nerve heals it can trigger headaches. I unfortunately had this happen and it was so bad I couldn’t go to class and pretty much slept all day because the headaches were that bad. Also recommend getting an eye patch or eye cover cause your eye can dry out as you sleep and do damage to your eye. Keep your head up. Things will get better it’ll just take time.

I had Bell's Palsey when I was a young lad back in the 90's. Medical treatment has probably changed a lot since then but at the time doctors did shock treatment on my face to help stimulate the nerves that had collapsed. Not trying to suggest anything like that to you but wanted to reach out to say it eventually healed and it just takes time. Try to be patient and remain optimistic, it'll all work out. You're an inspiration to us and we're all glad you're recovering. Love your content but I hope you dont feel pressured to make videos when relaxing and healing is more important. take care brother!

I pray you have a total recovery very soon. That happened to my husband around 15 years ago (out of the blue, on the entire left side of his face) when he was under a lot of "stress," working full-time & simultaneously in Grad School doing research for his PhD. It was frightening to both of us because we didn't know what it was, what caused it, or if his face would ever look normal again. A fellow grad student told him it was something called "Bell's Palsey" and that a doctor could give him steroids to help. We had no medical insurance at the time, so he couldn't afford to see a doctor, but we read a lot about it online. He tried his best to not stress about it (even though it was hard), and within three months (3), his face COMPLETELY came back to NORMAL!🙏 (perfectly normal, as if it had never happened)!💝 And it has never come back since that time.🙌 I honestly believe you will also be back to normal within a few months, especially since you're still young! I will definitely keep you in my prayers & continuously keep trusting for your full recovery. 💯

I am sorry that you are going through this. I just prayed for healing over you. I have a sister who experienced facial paralysis like this randomly to and got a huge bald spot on her head. The reason the doctor told her she got this was because she was under a lot of stress at the time. Today her face is back to normal. I don’t remember how long it took for her to heal because it was a long time ago this happened to her. However, I am positive you will be healed. Maybe this is your body telling you in some way incase it is stress for you to take care of yourself more both mentally and physically. Our body has a strange way in sometimes showing us it needs caring. I empathize with this in the sense that a few months ago I started randomly breaking out in hives and still get them but not as much. I have been more serious about my self care and have gotten them less frequently. I dunno maybe it’s stress but my doctor tells me it’s due to my autoimmune disease which I also got likely because of the stress and mental illness. Anywho take it easy. You will get better!

My brother got Bell's Palsy in his early 20s, exactly as you described, he went to bed normal and woke up with half his face numb. He experienced everything you have described in this video, he even had to tape his eye shut so could sleep at night, he used to make me laugh when he would brush his teeth he had to stand over the bath tub to rinse his mouth because water would shoot out the numb side. Within 6 months he fully recovered, he is now in his 40s and I would say the only enduring side effect is sometimes when he gets a bit drunk his eyelid on that side gets a bit lazy. I can't imagine the stress and anxiety you are going through right now but keep your chin up mate, you will get through this and eventually look back on it and be all the stronger for overcoming it.

Hey mate, I know it’s stressful. Try and relax about your face, the less stress you have the faster you will recover. Get lots of sleep, eat well as it will help your healing. Don’t worry about your face it will get better, treat yourself like you would a best friend or family member going through this, be gentle on yourself mate. When you surrender to your situation, I don’t mean give up, I mean accept it happened but it will get better with time. It’s like suddenly breaking your ankle, you are forced to accept that your mobility is affected, and even bathing is difficult but you accept that it will take up to 6 months to be free of needing crutches and physiotherapy. I had epilepsy as a kid it was embarrassing having seizures in front of people, but then I just accepted that’s what I had to deal with. It’s much easier on yourself to accept this condition and that you will heal with time.
