‘My Family Couldn’t Recognise Me!’: Emma Thompson On Matilda The Musical & Basic Instinct Audition

I had the great pleasure and privilege of being in the audience in 2019 when she was in Munich to receive a lifetime achievement award and the premiere of The Children Act, I was so thrilled because she's been my favourite actess (and frankly just one of my favourite people) ever since I can remember and being a German I knew I wouldn't have too many opportunities to see her in person, so I took a 10h train ride, was there for 4h and then went 10h back home straight away, and even though I didn't really "meet" her just seeing her on stage made it all well worth it and to this day I'm so happy I decided to go. She was just as lovely, witty and hilarious as you would expect, took her shoes off when she went on stage because they were high and hurting her feet xD and she actually sang The Lambeth Walk with us as the audience, one of the songs from the musical Me And My Girl which I assume she is talking about in the interview here when she mentioned being in a musical earlier on in her career!!
