Wow, I was not expecting that! That's one of the coolest train sets I've seen in a while, certainly since I saw the press release of Kato's N scale Evangelion set in an issue of Model Railroad News a couple of years back! Mehano needs to seriously think about selling these in the US market! Oddly enough, I was at one of the local hobby shops in my area and saw a Bachmann N scale TGV set in a small cardboard box in the back! Also glad you showed how to assemble the track it's easy to miss the rail joiners and getting the track out of line although track setups like Bachmann EZ track, Atlas True Track, etc have greatly reduced that issue it can still happen! Stay well and keep running those awesome trains!

Absolutely. Personally I've found their products to be mechanically sound, decently detailed and a good price for what you get. It would be nice if they could come back to North America because I think these types of sets would be good for beginners.

My parents recently purchased me a Hornby Train set from Amazon, except there was no Amazon box, just the Hornby box. Back in 1978/9 when I was still working for Jeans mobile shop we sold those sets they were made by Bachmann and they were (“orange and white and black”) and they were originally called the (“French TGV”) ! This was a couple years before the German ICETRAIN came out ! And by 1980 I was on my way to Fort Benning !!! Oh and by the way, the main reason you have the steel track is because in order for a company to make a profit they had to use cheaper materials in this case they use steel tracks !!! The train set is called old new stock meaning it is a couple of decades old but it’s never seen the light !!! The set has been sitting probably in a old warehouse it was sitting in for a while !!! Basically meaning that set is a warehouse set for maybe a couple of decades !!!! It would also be known as a secondary sales item which they’re not supposed to text you all !!!! Governments getting tough on eBay saying that we should sell something in Texas when it’s a secondary or used item why would you charge tax on a used item that doesn’t make sense you’ve already paid tax on it once why are you going to pay tax on it twice ??? Sorry for the ranting! But you are right on one Big Prospect, it is a (“beautiful train”) !!! I may have also forgotten to mention that the “original train set” that was sold by “Bachmann for the French TGV sets” in the United States had a (“fifth car”) in the set too !!!! 🌊🐺

All you need now are another 6 coaches 😁 Maybe the "overdrive"on the control unit is so you can crank it up from the regularly timetabled 350kph to its world record speed of 574.8kph (SNCF TGV : "JR Shinkansen, hold my beer") Edit: looks great going round your layout. What a pity Mehano don't market extra 1st and 2nd class coaches and the bar car so you could run a full set? or even set up a multiple unit pair. I had a mate in the uk who made up a full Intercity 125 set with two power cars. It looked amazing. Funny coincidence there. About the time you had your photo taken (Gare de Lyon? Marseille St Charles?) I was racking up the kilometers in these twice a week from Valence to my job at SNCF in Paris. Seems a long time ago now.

A North American adapter can be easily found and cheap. Set looks great 👍
@stupidsmart-phone69114 жыл бұрын
You should be able to use the set's controller in 1 of 2 ways. Get a North American plug from most electronics departments or online. Or get a plug adapter to fit on the end of the original. Before I left Europe I made sure to stock up on plug converters. There's one called Travel Smart by Conair can adapt plugs from Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Europe, UK, and US all on one device. Your train power pack should work on as low as 110v even though continental Europe is around 220v. But monitor it at all times just in case. Oh, and never go full throttle. Unless you laid pillows around the corners. That was a hard lesson in physics. Too bad Acela wasn't caught in slowmo.

I figured Mehano was still around but they just didn't make any American stuff. But they still have cabooses (woodsided and tyco-style), gondolas, hoppers, container flatcars, ore hoppers, plow gondolas, reefers, 4-6-4 hudsons, 4-4-0s, 2-8-0s, C628s, SD40-2s, GP18s, F45s, GG1s in multiple roadnames as well as some American N scale. Each freight car goes between 10-15 euros while a loco can go for 54 euros to 169 euros. Some roadnames are more expensive than others

Kumata & co. produced a number of finescale O (2-rail) scale Japanese and European high speed trainsets some years ago. But their price tags were fear-inducing, well over $10,000USD for a prototypical-length train. Makes Lionel's Acela look cheap by comparison.
