The eject is easy fix, open up the ps3 and the metal piece you touch on the board just pull up so it makes contact with the metal on the lid for the eject button

the old backwards compat models have some sort of onboard storage which the custom firmware installs itself onto instead of the hard drive but on the non bc or slim models that onboard bit of storage was taken away so you have to re install custom firware on those if you replace the drive

Hi. Cool you have the most complete system,but there are things you need to know and i recommend for it: Replace the power supply with the more cooler Aps 231 from the fat G models,and the system only will use 285 W instead the horrifying 380W And heat will be less. And replace the fan,with the Nidec white sticker fan,or the DC Brushless white sticker fan,they can be found on the later models H K L etc. But they have a short cable,make it longer to get it connected to the connector. And that's it. I made all that in my E model and i have my system at 35% or 40% fan speed. Also delidding rsx helps that out too. And remarry the disc drive with the 410 module. That's my system today story. Hope you can make it too😉

PLEASE use WebMan to keep the RSX at 63C. It's done many people including the current GOAT of PS3 hardware repair and mods, RIP Felix, very well. Even if it's not going above 60C right now, it WILL get hotter as it gets dustier and as the thermal paste dries.

Why 63 as the underfill goes bad at 70c So 67/68 should be fine

I had a similar experience with a slim PS3, except mine didn't overheat, I was just not happy with how loud it got (spoiler alert: it turned out to be normal behavior). I teared it apart and changed the thermal paste at least 5 times before going to desperate measures and finally delidding the thing, but only the CPU, because I'm not confident enough to do the same to the GPU. Turns out temps went back to what it was when I initially got it. It was a wild ride, though, I'm happy with how it is right now, or at least, I accept it!

You could've just got a 1TB SSD, they go for the same price as HDD and even with the SATA1 interface of the PS3 add better loading times and overall faster response time and stability, specially when you have an huge amount of digital games to load on the XMB.

some ps3s have internal flash for firmware hence why u didnt have to reinstall the cfw, on slim ps3 you have to reinstall with new hdd

the faster way instead of using usb to transfer files is by using an ethernet cable of course right to your pc.

Thermal Paste alone isn't going to sort this. It needs a De-Lid of the CPU and GPU.

You don't removed the CPU & GPU you remove their IHS (the aluminum block on them) it's called delidding. That process is very tedious and risky and can and will kill your PS3 if you're not patient enough. But with these consoles reaching 20 year old life's they need to have those replaced with new paste.

you MUST DELIED the RSC and CELL or the PS3 get destryoed better you would to a RSX Swap too, form 90nm to 60/40nm and replace the Tokens with the nice PCB Mod.

My god, stop trying to parrot random BS. Replacing the RSX and Tokins ONLY needs to be done IF they fail. RipFelix agrees with me here. Even he has a console with a 90 nm RSX that he bought used in 2012, and it still works with frequent use. Doing such an invasive component swap/repair to an already working console as preventative maintenance is ridiculous. It's already working fine now, so why do that crap? It is the same with delidding. It only needs to be done if the console runs like a jet engine even with new good quality paste. RSX delidding barely does anything either unless you have a 20xx Slim. The CELL is farrrr more power hungry than the RSX, so only the CELL has the potential to need delidding anyway.

@OnlyDadz The CPU is 45 nm, but the RSX is 65 nm on this model. It's the only PS3 model where the RSX can runs hotter than usual. Delidding the RSX here is the same as on a 90nm/65nm on a fat PS3.

​@jtchoi2003 I agree 100%. Don't fix what ain't broke. I have a unmodified E01 that I haven't delidded, but the temps are fine and it runs great. In the event that it does ever fail, then I'll look into the RSX swap/NEC tokin replacement.
