The three things that are very disturbing about this story are (and not the OP's actions at all): 1. The grandfather tried to make amends, but his children's hate is too great for them. 2. The father actually believing that the child he willingly abandoned to the grandfather (and at the time not knowing if sobriety had stuck so absolutely putting his own child in potential danger) to appease a clearly toxic narcissistic witch of a wife. 3. The clear fact that the father (in utter contradiction to his facade as a "family man") was allowing one of his own daughters to be abused and/or was abusing her himself.
