I used to love that spot, back in the day there was an abandoned barge docked there and the fishing was pretty good off that barge....

Used to catch big stingrays out there. My personal best was about 150 pounder. It was a monsta.

I never really targeted sting ray. Caught a couple on accident before!

3:39; i went to the north jetty a few weeks ago in July 2024, a few days before Beryl. Tried to hike all the way to the boat cut!😅 almost made it haha. but anyways along the way, I noticed crabs basking on the rocks during low tide. I thought ohhhh i have been wanting to try that technique because I am inexperienced on that one mostly do inshore with artificials. Well I netted a a couple of those crabs with my landing net! I got skunked that day😂 woopsie. But i felt overly accomplished for having snagged a couple crabs with my landing net in that way. I “know” they are drum candy, per se. Seen lots of yours and MDLR’s and others’ videos! So I knowwwwww it works. But goshdurnit if I ain’t been at the wrong right place at the wrong time, lol. But yah that’s another way to get crabs as I am sure you very well know! Being that you fish way more than me and all.

Good day, where is this spot? I would like to take my 11 year old grandson to fish one day soon. We live in the Pearland area.
@RGCfishingg6 ай бұрын
It is at the east end of the Galveston seawall, but it’s a nice hike to get all the way down to the spot itself. Sometimes you gotta get your feet wet as well. But if you head down the seawall all the way to the dead end, there is a parking lot. Park there and then head north; there’s a little path down the rocks (be careful not to slip), which leads to a small sandy area. If the tide is really high, water will be in, and you have to get your feet wet. Keep heading north down that beach until you get to a treeline. Right there is where we usually pick a rock to climb up and fish on. There's lots of trash/broken glass there, as well as the occasional weirdo hanging out in the old fort. Also, be prepared for lots of mosquitoes.

Going to Galveston this weekend for 4 days I have some fishing rods I do bass fishing I’m from Dallas Biggest stoutest rod I have is a leviathan bait casting swimbait rod xxh up to 8 oz lures Anda shimano scorpion jdm Wondering if this is even a good set up and if you could share your spot with me coordinates to be exact. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!
@RGCfishingg2 ай бұрын
Just bring what you got! You can catch fish with any setup as long as you play your cards right. Now to be honest with you I haven’t been on the water in a while, but this time last year the red / black drum bite was starting to heat up. You’ll need to be able to throw a pretty decent size rig so you’ll probably be maxing out that 8oz limit. Get some spider weights, nice big circle hook & get live blue crabs to soak. Not sure what the cords are for the spot. But if you drive East down the Sewell eventually you’ll hit a dead end. Park there and you’re at the spot. Anywhere along those rocks is a nice deep channel where big fish hang around. Good luck!

If you know how to get to Galveston seawall. Make left from 61st and follow all way past the ferry landing is, drive past that and keep going til ends. Parking lot is there. When in doubt google earth it

sooo may I ask any advice on how better to get success with those crabs? The few times I’ve tried, they get ate up by bait stealers and a big one doesn’t have time to take it, or something, but also maybe right place wrong time like I mentioned in my other comment.
@RGCfishingg3 ай бұрын
You’ve got the right idea with the whole right place wrong time thing. Since we’re in the middle of summer there are a ton of bait fish out there and for the most part these fish are locked in on mullet right now. I love using crab from October - April time frame.
@RGCfishingg3 ай бұрын
You can obviously catch the big guys anytime of year but these last two seasons I’ve been focusing on diferente species/ style of fishing depending on the time of year. I’ll release a video one of these days on the best fish to target for the time of year. Just need a little more time to figure everything out. Tight lines & thanks for watching.

What kind of fishing rod you use ?
@RGCfishingg8 ай бұрын
I use an 11 foot penn carnage, but I caught the red on my pops Old 18 prototype rod. It’s around 12 ft. Any surf rod 9ft and up would work perfectly for this style though!

Nah I was using braided line so I could cast further. But I normally would use a shock leader for the rocks!

Have you used a Sputnik weight there?
@RGCfishingg6 ай бұрын
I rarely use the Sputnik style. Could for sure help save some weights when getting stuck in the rocks, but I always go with spiders cause they are cheaper lol
