also, def support black woman owned businesses outside the beauty world as well! and thank you for linking for breonna too. i read a post about how we often forget or lack the same level of passion for the murder of black women than what we have for black men. if we are outraged for what happened to george (which happened only 40 mins away from me and like 10 min away from my sister), we need to have that same outrage for breonna who was murdered in her own bed. *to all non-black poc- we need to stand with the black community as they always stand with us. and once their lives are treated with worth and better, we all benefit. do not derail their movement, we need to be there for them as the work their community has put in has helped all of us gain rights. donate, speak up, show up!

Coloured Raine is one of my fave eyeshadows & the brand I own the most palettes from. I own every palette they've put out save one(The Power palette because it seemed too similar to QOH) plus several of their singles. They also sell lashes & liquid lipsticks but I don't use those products, & they recently came out with blush/highlighter duos that looked really good too. I've always gotten my merchandise well packaged & undamaged within a week of ordering it

so i have mixed feelings with juvia's place (and shea moisture). a lot of the black women they initially were using as their main influencers were pushed aside for lighter skinned and white women these past couple years. they both have such nice products but it's a little disappointing and i hope they went back to really focusing on their initial base instead of leaving them (especially knowing statistically, black women spend the most on the beauty industry. like financially for companies it's stupid to not include black women in launches and product development).

I agree about the mixed feelings with Juvias Place. Their last launch they didn’t even post swatches on a Deep skintone which was very disappointing. But then I think about the collab they did with Fumi. To collab with a mature black woman with a smaller following is almost unheard of and she is such a beautiful person. I really want Juvias to use their platform to continue doing good..

I am in complete agreement about JD glow. I just got Umm, prismatic, and anomaly and it's literally the best eyeshadow Ive ever tried! The multichrome didn't even crease on me after 8 hours and the galaxy shades are so sparkly and creamy that I actually can't handle it! Such an incredible brand!

Now, I have an order for the Tribe palette from Juvia's Place and their stick foundation that I'm placing next paycheck. LOL Thank you so much for doing this video. I marched in my city last Saturday. I had to leave before things got crazy - not because of fear, but because 6 hours is my bodily limit with a heavy bag of supplies (and my kiddo anxiously wanted me home), and I genuinely (naively) thought things were starting to wind down. I have plans and contingencies to go back out eventually. The things I saw were utterly inspiring and took me to places in my heart that I was barely aware of previously. I have never felt so proud to stand among such amazing, strong people. I'm proud of the conversations I've been able to have afterward. Within the horror and rage there is a spark of grim determination. It seems... strange... to talk about makeup amidst all of this. But I've always joked that my makeup was my war paint. And I have a ton of privilege - as a white woman, employed steadily through this pandemic, as a healthcare worker. I can choose where my money goes when I do treat myself. It's a small thing, but it's something I can do. Love to you and your family.

I finally got prismatic. :-) also the new shades lemonade and inferno...oh m gee. I have fallen in love with J.d. I had to challenge myself to only use one palette a day because all I've done for a month is mattes from a random palette then jd singles so i had like 10 new palettes id never done an actual look with cause i ALWAYS pulled in my jd or devinah singles. Lol

I've been going back and forth on what I want to try from Denessa Myricks, so many of the products call to me so I end up with a cart full of almost all her products. The clear balm especially called to me because I was wondering if it would just melt my powder highlighter into the skin. I imagine it would be fantastic for my more "unnatural" highlighters, just having them sink into the skin can make so much of a difference in my opinion.

Yes it is so good at that! It just melt the product in and looks so glowy. I understand it took me forever to decide which products I wanted to try and I still have a ton more on my wishlist.

Re-reading this I realise this could have come off as insensitive, which I didn't mean it to be. I guess I was just thinking "I already know of these POC-owned brands because I watch your videos all the time, and I will just silently do my part by rewatching it with ads several times throughout the next several days." As everyone else had said "thank you for spotlighting these POC/WOC owned brands" I didn't want to sound like a broken record. Apologies to anyone who read my initial comment and thought it was insensitive.
