Hey Thomas, what matters box are you using
@Steve-ul6pe Жыл бұрын
Hi Thomas, I have been using the BMPCC4K for about two years now and it's a great camera. I see that you are sharing a single battery between the camera and the monitor. Just to let you know there are a number of KZbin videos which have identified a problem with that configuration since after some time it will damage the internal HDMI chip within the camera. It seems that the common battery power supplied to the monitor can cause it to generate an HDMI voltage difference as compared to the HDMI voltage utilized within the camera and after some time the camera HDMI interface chip will fail. The solution is to use a separate battery attached to the back of the monitor to supply the monitor power.
@AdrianoEdits Жыл бұрын
the solution is just to plug power cable BEFORE plugging the HDMI. If you do this you will never have any issue
@RedshiftFilm5 ай бұрын
@@AdrianoEdits I just use a battery for peace of mind. I'd hate to forget and damage my camers, or have one of my assistants damage it because they didn't realize

One accessory I find very useful is SmallRig's Lens Mount Adapter Support. It connects the Metabones Speedbooster to the camera cage via the little tripod foot at the bottom. This prevents the camera from twisting in the cage (I had that happen to me all the time) by adding a third point of contact. Makes the whole thing rock solid, highly recommended!

I also got the portkeys monitor to control my P4K with it. But after nearly 2 years of using it I gotta say, it's not the perfect solution. Sometimes there are connectivity issues and the control doesn't work. Generally this issue can be fixed quickly, but when you're in a hurry (which is like always the case when on set) this can be really annoying. Also the menu of BM Cameras is just so good, using the menu of the monitor instead which isn't nearly as good is kind of a bad trade. So I find myself still using the controls on my P4K quiet often. But of course having a monitor with the capability to directly control your camera is still a plus. Also: great video, keep it going! Best wishes from germany.
@thomasjmcclure2 жыл бұрын
I had some connectivity issues with my sonys on this one, the P4K has been pretty flawless so far *fingers crossed*. but yeah the bmd menus are fantastic, i do find i sometimes end up just flicking the battery hinge back to access the menu at times. but its nice to have both options. I also wish the portkeys was 7" but oh well

Smallrig have the Dual 15mm Rod Battery Hinge MD2802, that would be able to screw into the back of the rods, IF you are using Smallrig or Niceyrig rods with threads. That way you can get the V-mount tucked in even closer to the camera and still have it tiltable.

Thanks for making such a detailed video! First person I have seen mention that handle, looks fantastic! One question, when you push the battery toward the back of the camera, is it bumping the screen or the top of cam/cage? I really like using the Anton Bauer base battery with my pocket 4k. It allows me to see the main screen, lasts all day, and keeps my rig from falling forward when I set it down if I'm running without rails. QUESTION: Am I right in seeing that you've been able to run power to the camera and the monitor from the same external battery without running into the dreaded ground loop problem?
@r.h.658110 ай бұрын
Hi! Did you get an answer to your problem? I would like to know if i could power the camera and the monitor trough the same battery (whitout a battery on the monitor)?
@jeremyevantaylor172410 ай бұрын
@@r.h.6581 I never got an answer from Thomas. Online, I've only gotten the answer that even though some people claim to have found a solution, you're always running the risk of the ground loop problem if you try to power both from the same battery.

Hey. I like the video and the time you have spent to make it very detailed and valuable. All accessories you used are worth considering other than a lens. I do not get why would anyone (other than KZbinr) use cinema camera with photography lens. Image is digital and you have poor control over pulling focus. Other than that quality of your content is impressive. Keep going!

I think the image quality and usability of the 18-35 is fantastic as a photography lens, the cine version of that lens is waaaay more expensive. so for the price i think its great, and works fine. but yes cinema lenses are definitely more ideal in many circumstances, for cinema cameras
