Wow! Exceptional video, unspeakable thanks! After watching literally thousands of golf videos, yours is the FIRST I’ve seen to explain the vital “why” and “how” of the hip movement. Also, critically, you give specific instructions with options! Very few others touch on why, how, and are specific. Brilliant!

Great session Eric. I could watch this daily to imprintthe message. As an old man-89-this is probably the most important and clearest message for my needs. You do a terrific job and it's much appreciated. Be well-Russ

Another amazing lesson and drill. Having the drills start with a half swing and working through the steps helps many of us learn. Having some of the issues identified with your student is something we all relate to. Thanks again.

This 100% is something i use to do when i was hitting the ball half decent …had a miss hit / bad round awhile back and my playing partner told me i shouldnt be shifting …i was desperate so this whole season ive been working on rotating with no shift and things have gotten so bad for me …i forgot i stopped the lateral move ,so i am so glad i came across this lesson …

Awesome lesson… i once saw a video that Lee Trevino giving a lesson to a person was hanging is body back. He said.. imagine there is a shotgun where the ball is and it will get you if you don’t move your body forward on the downswing. If you move your hips/body towards the target on your backswing the shotgun will miss you. That is what I always tell my wife and daughters when I see their body hang back. Different visual.. but same concept!

That is great but how do you prevent head movement to the left causing steep downswing leading to inconcsistency? I've been struggling with this for years and still not sure how to correct this. Any drills you recommend for this specific issue?
@CogornoGolfАй бұрын
Hey Garret! You prevent that with RIGHT SIDE BEND So as you are shifting and turning your RIGHT SHOULDER needs to go DOWN toward right hip We go over that here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hXzUe2eXfJqqhNU&pp=ygUcRXJpYyBDb2dvcm5vIHN0YXJ0IGRvd25zd2luZw%3D%3D kzbin.info/www/bejne/eXbWqYSvrbKAldk&pp=ygUcRXJpYyBDb2dvcm5vIHJpZ2h0IHNpZGUgYmVuZA%3D%3D

Eric, I've been watching videos of me hitting wedges and I'm already doing this. But after watching videos of myself hitting driver I don't see it. I looked up some videos of JT and I don't see this being applied to his driver swing either. Is this applicable to driver?
@CogornoGolfАй бұрын
Hey! Same for driver......but.....HEAD more BACK with driver! Combine that with wider stance and it won't LOOK as far forward generally...

Any chance you could talk about hitting a ball below your feet? The hardest shot in golf for me, never understood quite what to do, and play every round simply trying to avoid it.
@CogornoGolfАй бұрын
Hey John! for sure....we have that (and all other lies) in our masterclass on fairway woods and hybrids below ericcogornogolf.podia.com/fairway-woods-hybrids-master-class

If i may. . . Stand an inch or two closer to the ball. Then bend knees (not bend forward) to get club down to the ball. Then the key is swing club more upright instead of around your body (like ferris wheel, not carousel). Hope this helps ^^

Good video, I’m 64 with old Lower back injuries and almost impossible for this to happen? I have an AI app as well called “golf fix” and even on my high score videos 8 to a “perfect “ 10 I’m not there? Maybe it’s camera angle? When I try that it says I have “too much hip slide” which has been a big fault for me. Bad post up on left knee / right handed… I’ve corrected most of that by keeping my head back and pushing my hips forward but I’m not Adam Scott 😊

All I can say is do this at your own risk. Moving your hips out from under your torso and on top of that creating a twisting motion? You are asking for significant lower back problems. The pros have full-time trainers and access to physical therapy. They prepare their bodies all day long for this type of movement. Us amateurs that don’t have access to that, need to stop chasing what is essentially unattainable without risking significant injury. The occurrence of lower back injuries, even with the pros is very high. There have been a number of top players recently that are pulling out of tournaments because of lower back issues. I firmly believe there are ways to swing the golf club that produce less strain on your body and should be taught particularly to the weekend warriors
@claestapper5190Ай бұрын
My opinion: This is crucial if you want to hit the ball consistently.
@markkelt6239Ай бұрын
@@claestapper5190agree. If you move your lower body correctly you will destress the back
@NM-pl1ivАй бұрын
I just gave it ago with a few practice swings, I was able to do the motion but this probably solid advice for anything if it hurts, you probably shouldn’t do it we all have our own personal limitations. As for the pros my guess is it’s the repetition day in and out.

All the old time greats who swung at slower speeds than the young bucks today did this. Nicklaus Watson Snead, even Hogan. This works.
