Buy once, cry once. That's what I did, I just purchased a pair of Sidi X-3 Enduro boots. I'm sold, 2-3 rides and a slight adjustment of the rear brake and I'm set. They're broken in and super confortable, no doubt they will last forever too.

I got the Sidi's and immediately replaced the sole with the enduro version. So much better for dual sport/woods riding, IMHO. Fantastic boots!

Those Sidi boots have a ton of great features, but they are made for really narrow feet. If they made a line of wide boots I would be first in line. Personally I prefer a tail bag like the Rigg Gear to a set of saddle bags, for volume and ease of access. I totally agree about the backpack choice, especially in the heat, or when riding technical double or single track. Thanks for the great video!

@autoltu1113 2 жыл бұрын
Not sure if you're aware of that but not all of Sidi boots are narrow. E.g. Sidi adventure 2 were too narrow for my feet but Sidi x-3 were spot on. Also, SRS versions (replaceable soles) seem to be narrower than the regular ones

@David Clark I'm using the Rigg Gear tail bag as well. I was apprehensive because of it not being "water proof" but it hasn't been an issue.

Hi, I'm curious how you wash the bike after a ride, specifically with the traverse setup? I recently put the traverse bags on my DRZ, but I'm not sure if I should leave them on when I wash the bike after a ride. How do you wash yours after a ride? Thank you for the great content :)

Thanks for all these gears Ian, at least you successfully persuaded me into getting the USB/volt meter combination item even though I only ride a street bike. As for the other items, I think they are too hardcore dualsports and I would go back to review them by the time I indeed step into the DS riding.

Lots of good information and ideas. I have been buying my motorcycle stuff from Rocky Mountain ADV using your link. They are efficient, with reasonable prices, good selection, quick and they always get the order right. I have been looking for new boots and will check out SIDI Crossfire. The toe will have to be thin enough to fit under my KLR shift lever. Thank you! Safe riding!
@OrbPonderer
@OrbPonderer 2 жыл бұрын
Are you able to adjust the shift lever? I was able to on my DRZ
@kawabungah20
@kawabungah20 2 жыл бұрын
@@OrbPonderer Thank you for the suggestion. Apparently, based on the KLR Forum, rotating the stock lever upwards on the shift spline, by even one tooth, causes the lever to interfere with the engine case and prevent smooth shifting. A longer lever may work. However, the longer lever would extend beyond the clearance cutaway that has been designed into the engine case). However, the risk of a longer lever is - a crash could press the longer lever into the engine case. I've purchased pivot pegs and that may allow simply pivoting the peg to a lower angle that would allow my thicker boot to easily get under the lever. The pivot may take some getting used to. I think the real reason for pivot pegs is to facilitate hill climbing. Anyway, that may be a neat solution.

I feel stuck by my body build. I have freakishly huge 19" calves which look like every day is leg day and I don't even try. I went shopping for MX boots and nothing available at any local shop would fit, Sidi, Alpine Stars, O'Neal, nothing. Someone suggested Gaerne and I ordered some Gaerne Fastback boots. They barely fit, adjusted all the way out to the maximum size at the calf. I can't fit any sort of shin guards under them, so I'm also limited by the knee protection I can use. Am I truly stuck, or do you know of any alternatives that could offer me better protection?

Because I ride dual sport to discover, explore, and sleep in caves not man-made my gear and clothing has stitched reflective tape. Commonly 2 inch wide, seen in pairs below knees, elbows, arm sockets, and below chest center. I also own a Singer Model 4423 to make that happen using strong upholstery thread. Its ideal over dark solid color of black, blue, spruce, and navy. My attire tends to be entirely one such general color choice. Mostly black and navy to match my armored/buckled enduro boots. Zipper pulls all have a foreign coin sewn on for the shiny value. Canadian and United Arab Emigrates mostly.

FREE FOREIGN COINS: Banks and Credit Union being defrauded by customers commonly keep it in a container until used as evidence. And then entered into their metal waste bin for recycling. Mangers may choose the free day amount and surrender it on a first come- first served. My other free coin collection involves metal detection gear and something to dig down no more than 24 inches. Gold coins are not added to my attire and go into a safety deposit box. The boot laces I'm wearing today have a 5-KR from Sweden and a Mexico 5-Peso. Both drilled with 3/8" hardened steel bit. Don't save precious metal dust from such coin work.

It’s a standard presentation technique. Sets up the topic that’s about to be covered and helps the audience’s minds transition and start thinking about the specific topic. Very effective, and you don’t subconsciously realize he’s adjusting your mindset. Ian worked as a director for some time, so he would be used to delivering high level presentations and getting audiences to go where they need to on a specific topic, which includes skilled transitions on topics. We reap the benefits in the quality of his videos and how he covers these topics without realizing it perhaps. Suggest try and grin and bear it for your own sake.
