I’m going to like this series! I feel like you forgot to point out another advantage of the thin motorcross gloves, next to more feel they also provide less fatigue (when you use the clutch a lot). So I would recommend taking them with you as a backup (they take next to no space) and/or to switch out to when speeds go down because of off-road riding. I really prefer them for all but high way/speed work (and I’ve never encountered thorny bushes while off-roading 🥸). Ride safe👍🏿

Bought the MSR gloves based on this. Got them in yesterday, used them today for a 21f 20-minute commute. Overall impressed! They do suffer from an amazingly common issue...massively over-long pinky almost the length of the next finger. Two minor quibbles in addition: Lining in the right glove is a lot less correctly shaped or attached meaning I have to put that one on first while I still have the dexterity in my left hand to work the pinky and pointer finger a bit to get it on. With such a long (and awesome!) gaunlet, they almost need a pull on the back of the hand before the gautlet to get them on easier...particularly the second one. For the price, assuming they hold up, best insulated gloves I have bought in 32 years of riding. Ignoring price, second best I have bought in 32 years of riding. After 20 minutes (behind handguards) at 20f speeds averaging 45mph only the last 5 minutes had the pinkies and tips of thumbs getting uncomfortable. Medium fits me perfect and I am usually on high end of Medium but large in "Italian" sized gloves.

Hey Ben, I think it’s time for another video in this series. It would be great if you would do one on footwear. I recently started adventure riding and prior to my first day out on the dirt I was under the impression that “adventure boots” were what I would want. I quickly realized that was not the optimal footwear choice and something more in line with a motocross boot offers way more stability on the pegs and protection for the leg. I imagine there are a lot of people that could benefit from a discussion on footwear.

Bang on the money Ben! Just like bikes there is no unicorn. For warm weather I like full one piece leather palm, flexible mesh back(it has to be very plush with no seams that will rub or sit under a finger),segmented armour on the back(knuckles etc), good wrist closure. Cool or cold weather adds water proofing and insulation to the needed list. Keep your hands on the bars and your feet on the pegs!

Have been using a pair of the MSR’s all winter here in Utah down to about 10 degrees with no hand warmers and my hands have never been cold. They are an amazing value for the price. Also took a tumble into a very large puddle and even though the rest of me was soaked my hands stayed dry! 5 ⭐️ from me!

I've got two sets of gloves from Racer. I agree, they fit great. I've been pretty happy with them. I have the Guide and the FFH. Been using them for a good 10 years or so. Got the Guides first, they had a factory distributor a few miles from my house and they had a sale, so I got a smokin deal on them and could try them all on and get a great fit. It's time to replace the Guide gloves as they are wearing a bit much. The FHH's I have are much newer. They're ok. I did a 2 week 4500 mile trip last year (almost no dirt) and I got drenched big time more than once. They did ok., They didn't fare that well in really cold riding, but most of the time they were fine. Basically, if you get rained on ALL day in Yellowstone and then go through a 13k foot pass at dusk when it's 33F, you're hands will be friggin cold, even with your grips on high. But that's a tough row to hoe for any glove. I'll buy more gloves from them. Good stuff.

Great advice. A second or third pair is always in my pack. And to not get sucked into the marketing schemes. Some of the Mechanics or high dexterity work gloves are a good choice, but be aware many are similar to MX gloves. MX gloves are ok, but NONE of them last a season if your a daily rider. Joe Rocket makes some good mid priced gear.

I started out with Bilt gloves as well, I still have them as a backup glove. It's difficult to find women's gloves that fit, returned the Rev'it gloves I bought due to the fingers being an inch longer than mine. Thankfully Revilla has a good return policy. I'm currently searing a pair of Sedici road gloves, and they work well with plenty of venting and protection.

Insulated leather mitts. Far warmer than gloves. I don't know why nobody else seems to wear them. Get Elk skin, and a little oversized. They will come on and off very easy. I've tried the touchscreen gloves and prefer removing the glove/mitt (touchscreen= too clumsy).

I agree with pretty much everything you said. That being said, while on pavement I actually use fingerless gloves because of my garmin screen doesn’t like any glove I’ve found with fingers. I also won’t buy a glove unless it’s pre-bent, which removes tons of hand fatigue. All of my bilt gloves have tinted my hands😮😮! Love my klim inversion gloves though… 🙏🙏

@timlubbers2884
@timlubbers2884 Жыл бұрын
@@omicrondec I would have to stop to use a stylus, so if I’m gonna stop I might as well take off my glove… The 700 is glove friendly, but most of the “buttons” are to small for a touch with the size of a glove (at least mine). I use full finger gloves when on dirt, which is where (in my experience) gloves are needed most and I avoid cities and generally drive like an old man when in them. Everything when on a motorcycle is a give and take issue, so I have resolved myself to just not get into accidents 😎😎 🙏🙏

exilent vid, additional tip for new riders: if your buying full leather gloves, dont order online, go to a shop and get a set that fits very snug, almost to small, cos the leather will soften up and streatch and you wear them in just like boots :) will be worth it. I personally use full leather sport bike gloves, one step below full racing gloves(those are way to stiff and hard for every day), with full pads both knuckle and palm, and those will have better wrist protection. Those are just my 2 cents, not a pro or anything, just wanted to add a little tip to a fine video

I’m planning on getting one as my first bike but I am unsure if it is legit. I called and requested someone to ask some questions too, when I got through to someone they couldn’t answer anything. I asked to talk to Jeff and they hung up. I called back and requested to talk to him and they said that he would call me. After 5 hours I called and asked to be transferred to him Directly. He answered and said the bike ships in 10 days to the PNW area, did yours get to you that fast? The only payment option available is through PayPal. I don’t have an PayPal account so it offered to accept credit card, but if it was to do this it looked like it would auto create an account (not something that I want). Is this what you did or do you think there is a way around this? Also, to get plates on it would I take it to the local DMV or is there somewhere else to get that done? Thank you so much if you take the time to help me. If not, it’s all good. You’re an awesome dude either way. Stay excellent!

I've gotta say, i don't understand this thing that you gotta have special gear to ride adv bikes or street bikes and so on.. Wear what your comfortable with I guess but there is specific gear for different types of riding for a reason. Riding jeans are not water resistant or waterproof and a long day splashing through water crossings in jeans would get very uncomfortable and if doing multi-day rides they would not be dry the next morning. I certainly would not wear my sport bike shoes off road. Yes the have plenty of foot and ankle protection in the event of a low side but would not protect against rocks, logs etc and offer no shin protection. Jackets pretty much follow the same track as pants. My street jacket is designed for highway speed slides. Is CE level 2 certified on the shoulders, elbows and back. It’s a great jacket when there is plenty of airflow (even with all the vents open and liners removed) but at slow trail speeds it would feel overly stiff, heavy and hot. It would not provide the level of mobility I need for navigating trails. So just like there are different bikes for different rides there also are different clothes. Again, wear what you want if your comfortable but at least try to understand the purpose of different gear before passing judgment.
@closure7747

@@michiganmoto7687 I never judged, i just think it's getting out of hand with all this gear talk and stuff. I see your point when it comes to water resistent gear, but other then that i think people waste to much time thinking about how they look when they ride. That's all. Ride safe.👍🏻

The scaphoid bine snaps across it self and the blood supply cones in one side abd Uturns and goes back out the same side. The break goes across the blood vessels and that part of the bones dies ( necrosis. I put die because more peoiple are likely to know what that means , relative to necrose). Very common in cyclists and motorcyclists from putting their hand down to stop their fall.
