You had me at “doesn’t pick up glitter particles”! My favorite blush formula is from Hourglass, but some of the shades have more sparkle than others - the Takeda D-35 EXS sounds like it would be perfection! ❤️
@FudeKyun
@FudeKyun 3 жыл бұрын
@Brooke Sosa Yes! The Addiction blush I use the Takeda with is super glittery so I'm really happy that it doesn't pick up the glitter. You can pick that up at the Takeda counter in Takashimaya in Shinjuku when you go to Japan. I believe it was around 6000 yen pre-tax. For Hourglass blushes, I really like the Chikuhodo Takumi T-4 with them (particularly Incandescent Electra). I don't find that it applies much glitter.

Fude Kyun hello again! After days of contemplation and research, I’ve narrowed my Hakuhodo cart down to 4 brushes: J6530 (unless you think the 5521 is better!), J531, Fan Brush White, and J142. Have you tried/do you enjoy these brushes? Are there any I should avoid? 💕
@FudeKyun
@FudeKyun 3 жыл бұрын
@Brooke Sosa Hello! The J6530 is much larger than the J5521. It looks like a powder brush to me. Do you like larger highlight brushes or are you planning on using it for powder? The hairs are also much longer at 40mm compared to J5521's 32mm which means it'll give a lighter finish. J5521 is my favorite highlighter brush and I highly recommend it! You can see my highlighter brush comparison post here: fudekyun.blogspot.com/2016/07/highlighter-brushes.html I love the J531 for bronzer and J142 for eyeshadow blending! The Fan Brush White (smaller kabuki one) I like for powder and bronzer. Great choices! :)

How can someone in Europe order the Shou Shou Lang torqouise set of brushes? Are they still available? Also, do you like Goss brushes or Hakuhodo face brushes better? I ordered some brushes from Hakuhodo and am blown away with the quality. It's just the high shipping costs that are a problem. Please advise. 😁 💜

Ok... I need to figure out how to get my hands on that Shou Shou Lang MO-1 Brush... that sounds like the PERFECT brush for me... something that can multitask as a face and bronzer brush, that’s good for combination skin. Between the Shou Shou Lang and the Chikuhodo with the pink handle... which one is the winner??? I’m so glad you turned me into the Shou Shou Lang Brushes... I’ve never heard about them before this.

Hair quality varies depending on the batch - the M01 I bought is soft and perfect but my friend who bought it over half a year after me said she wasn't happy with hers. My latest Shou Shou Lang haul from a few months back noted quality discrepancies too so I am hesitant to recommend it anymore. The M01 I own is exquisite but I can't say I can guarantee that other people's will be the same. Unfortunately Chinese brush maker quality varies greatly. Chikuhodo and other Kumano Fude brands are much more consistent with their quality (except for the Wayne Goss Air-Brush, bundling discrepancy is rampant). I honestly don't think you can go wrong with the Chikuhodo or Hakuhodo ones!

Fude Kyun haha that's good, no wonder it wasn't included in this video. I have darkcircles that need to be be covered up😂 I know you own both of the air brush and the #2 brush from wayne goss(based on your previous video), is the air brush better than the #2 brush quality-wise?
@FudeKyun
@FudeKyun 7 жыл бұрын
It's not that I don't have anything to cover up, I just really dislike concealer haha. The AB is softer than the 02 but there are some inconsistent bundling issues with the AB depending on the release so it's difficult :\ The AB is still in stock right now though and people who have bought it during this third release haven't seemed to have any issues as the second release.

Your videos are so informative. I appreciate the comparisons and detail. I would like to buy a brush to apply loose powder to set my foundation. I don't want a BIG brush since I have a small face. The Suqqu brush would probably be perfect, but it's not easy for me to get. I also think a goat hair might be better since they don't get so mucked up if you get foundation on them. Are there any you would suggest I take a look at. Thank-you so much! : )

Hi Michelle! The Suqqu face brush is quite easy to obtain as long as you pay for the Harrod's shipping. You can also purchase the Tanseido WC20 through Fude Japan on Instagram. As for ones more easily attainable, CDJapan, Hakuhodo, and Beautylish would have you covered as their checkout processes are pretty good. What about the Chikuhodo Takumi T-4 or T-5 and Hakuhodo J103, J110?
@michellekelly2937

Thank you so much for your reply! It's perfect timing....The Beautylish sale just started, so it's a good time for me to buy!! I've been looking at the Chikuhodo Takumi brushes and was actually looking at T-4 and T-5, but couldn't make up my mind which one to get. I think I'll go for the T-5 since it is more tapered. I feel like this will allow me to apply the powder more precisely, which is what I want. It makes me feel good knowing you recommend these brushes. I'm sure I will be very happy with it. Thank you also for the information on the Suqqu brush. I really appreciate it. : )

What good timing for picking up the T-5! I don't remember if I've reviewed the T-5, but I remember the ferrule is not completely round or flat. It's more like an oval ferrule that has a good amount of thickness. I found the T-5 too scratchy for me but I have extremely sensitive skin (thank you, benzoyl peroxide). I think most people would enjoy it though! The T-4 is the softest brush in the Takumi collection in my opinion. Another brush you can consider is the Nars Large Brightener brush :) I have it and like it more than the T-5, but it's also larger, so it may be too big for small faces. The smaller version of it is the Nars Small Brightener I've reviewed and I LOVE that brush to bits. It's super soft and reminds me of a bunny's tail. It's perfect.

Hello again! I've been watching some of your videos and have a few options I am considering. I would love to hear your thoughts. The sukku cheek brush is just way too expensive ($150 Canadian + shipping + taxes +credit card charges). I'm just not willing to spend close to $200.00 for that brush!! I'm wondering what you think about the Chikuhodo Z-4 as a small powder brush. I think it would be a better option than the Z-2. I am also considering the Takumi T-4 since you say it is softer than the T-5, and it's one of your favourites. I think I could use it for many applications. I was also looking at the Wayne Goss #11, but I think you would probably tell me to get the Takumi T-4 instead!! Anyway, please let me know what you think about the Z-2. It looks similar in size to the Sukku, and I think it would be good to use as a small powder brush. Thanks again for taking the time to reply. I really appreciate it. : )
@FudeKyun
@FudeKyun 6 жыл бұрын
Oh, didn't you not want a squirrel brush for powder? I love the Z-4 for blush and think it would make a great small powder brush but only if you wipe it off on microfiber after each use otherwise it'll make the hairs tacky and prone to breaking. I'm not a fan of the Z-2 because I don't like long tapered brushes, nor do I like squirrel for highlight but everyone's different. I don't use the Z-2 for anything but highlight :\ The Wayne Goss #11 shares the same head as the Hakuhodo J110 and I love the J110 for blush but it could also be used as a small powder brush and maybe even bronzer. Hope this helps!

These analyses are so helpful!👍🏻 Do you think the Hakuhodo Kokutan Powder Brush MG could be a good bronzer brush? I like larger , medium- density bronzer brushes for “sweeping” & for picking-up more baked-type bronzers. I was considering this one or the Chikuhodo T-1 for that purpose. Any thoughts?

L Gempet Sorry for the late reply. Yes, I think you could just the Kokutan powder brush for bronzer but I have been using the Rephr 22 bronzer brush with a baked bronzer and it performs really well together! www.rephr.com/products/brush-22 Hoping to make a video on that eventually.

I finally bought the Z-1 after watching your videos multiple times! I am a bit disappointed though because the brush stinks when wet. I've washed it twice already and I might wash it a third time. I swear I can still smell that awful scent even when dry. Is the stinky smell normal?
@FudeKyun

abconsolacion Yes, the smell is normal during the first couple of washes. It'll go away eventually but I don't recommend washing it too often otherwise you'll damage the delicate squirrel hairs.

Hi, do you think Chikuhodo PS-1 from the passion series and Takumi T-1 has a similar shape? If not, could you explain the shape difference please? Thank you!
@FudeKyun
@FudeKyun 6 жыл бұрын
They are not similar. You can look up the dimensions of the brushes on the CDJapan website and search for images of both. Takumi has longer hairs and a flatter shape. The hair quality is also different as one is dyed and one is undyed.

Thank you! I'm oily skin so that I'm looking for a goat hair powder brush that I can press and roll on my face instead of swirl on it. If between the two, which one would you recommend for that purpose? Thanks!
@FudeKyun
@FudeKyun 6 жыл бұрын
The T-1 would most likely be too floppy to press firmly. If you're ok with it not setting your face firmly and with an ample amount of powder, it could work. The passion brush is also not something I'd use to press and roll but I think it would be easier to do with compared to the Takumi. I would recommend a brush like the Hakuhodo J103, Wayne Goss 00, and Nars Large Brightener to press and roll instead. They are round and tapered and fit nicely into the crevices of the face.
@mengyuanchen3060
@mengyuanchen3060 6 жыл бұрын
thank you! I've been watching your videos again and again to figure out what kind of brushes fit me the best, the sad thing is it seems we have really different liking for brush. I think the tapered large torch-like brushes you mentioned above may be generally too small for my large face... I think my favorite setting powder brush shape is slightly pinched oval top, with very layered side to pick up powder so that I can press onto my face, and medium density. Most importantly, it has to be large, cause I got a large face! Do you have anything in your mind? I was interested in PS-1 and Takumi T-1 at the first place but since you said T-1 may be too floopy I have to reconsider here.

Hi! Thank you for your videos! They are great! I am now looking for japanese brushes and was very happy to find you, as, i think, i have the same type of skin (combination, very sensitive cheek and nose area, sensitive lid and plus couperose on cheeks and dry and dehydrated), and this is so important because a lot of bloggers recommends brushes as perfect, but i found many of then in you "scratchy" video review. Thank you! I want to buy brushes for powder, eye (crease and blending), and blush. For eye i found three you highly recommends, and i think it will suit me too (as i have not big eye, and overhung eyelid): Hakuhodo B142BkSL = J142BkSL (goat) and S142Bk (squirrel, for winter). And Koyomo nadeshiko Pearl Pink Shadow Brush. For cheeks i also follow your advice: BP018 Blush Brush / Koyudo BP High Class Series or Z-4 Cheek, Highlight / Chikuhodo Z Series (did not decide yet, but i think Chikuhodo it would be). But i have few questions about powder brushes. I use only loose mineral powder (everydayminerals matte base, but think to try jojoba, probably it make my skin even more dry and dehydrated). I can not use liquid base as it make my cheeks and nose so irritated(red) and after 1-1,5 hours all slip down in pores and it looks awful. I want to ask about Hakuhodo J104 (hakuhodousa.com/products/b104bksl-j104bksl-powder-brush-round?variant=1168075030542) and Hakuhodo Kokutan (as you don't give link for it, is it this one? hakuhodousa.com/collections/kokutan-series/products/kokutan-powder-brush-mg-1) You say that J104 has saikôhô hair, but at website (now) they indicate just "goat". The same with Kokutan Powder Brush: Goat & Synthetic hair. So, two questions: will it work with loose mineral powder to give light to medium coverage? And would it not be scratchy for my(your) skin? Looking forward for your answers! With the best regards, Yulia

I choosed also the other powder brushes that i suppose could be okay for me: T-3 Foundation / Chikuhodo Takumi Series (Goat Saikoho, Softness: 8) T-4 Cheek / Chikuhodo Takumi Series (you also recommend it; and i found one blogger, she prefers mineral powder and she said about this brush as good for it for light to medium coverage). (Goat Saikoho, Softness: 8) This one is a bit small, but i think it would by okay the size, it it is not scratchy for my cheeks. I would appreciate you to gave your advice!

+iuliia vasylenka Hi! Thank you for watching and I'm glad you're enjoying the videos. I highly recommend both Koyomo pink pearl eyeshadow brushes (tapered and flat), Hakuhodo J146 for precise blending, S142bk, and Mizuho CMP527. J142 is larger than J146 and will over blend into a larger surface area if you're not careful (happens to me all the time). I really like the Z-4 and T-4 for blush! For loose mineral powder I would typically use a dense and short brush like the Koyudo Fu-Pa Soft 01 because I like full coverage. I actually haven't tried brushes with longer hairs like the J104 or T-4 with loose mineral powder. Unfortunately I won't be able to tell you now as I no longer use or own any mineral foundation, but if a blogger said she used T-4 with it and likes it for light to medium coverage than I would try it out for both blush and mineral powder if I were you! The T-3 could als work but it will give fuller coverage as the head is densely packed and hairs are shorter. Hakuhodo stopped writing down what their goat grades were years ago on the website but J104 and Kokutan powder brush definitely feel like saikoho to me. The Kokutan powder brush is this one: hakuhodousa.com/products/kokutan-powder-brush-mg-1

Just one question more:)) Would you day that fu-pa01 Soft Version / Koyudo www.cdjapan.co.jp/product/NEOKUD-493?s_ssid=e360be5a9bb13b29c5 will not be scratchy? (at website they give Softness =7 and Goat Tokoho, if i've found right, it is the least most from sokoho and saikoho).. What would you say about FU-PA 14 (squirrel and baby chest goat) www.cdjapan.co.jp/product/NEOKUD-262 ?
@FudeKyun
@FudeKyun 6 жыл бұрын
+iuliia vasylenko My LMPG is not scratchy in the warmer months but when my face is really dry in the winter even gray squirrel is too harsh on it (so yes the LMPG/fu-pa01 soft in general is soft enough). Fu-pa14 is even softer because it has gray squirrel mixed into it but I don't recommend it for loose mineral foundation as the binding agents in the foundation will make the head super tacky. Good luck!

Which one is better between the PS-1 and the Shiseido brush from part 2? They are similarly priced.
@FudeKyun
@FudeKyun 5 жыл бұрын
saki maki That's difficult to say as they're different hair types. If you want a multipurpose brush, I'd say PS-1 as you won't have any problems with it clumping after setting powder or damaging the hairs as easily. I'd also recommend the Koyudo Cherry Birch Powder Brush as it's softer. I just posted a video on that series last night. The Shiseido is squirrel hair so it won't apply as much product and better for dry skin. I like using it for finishing powder when I travel. Hope this helps!

@@FudeKyun Many thanks for replying. I do like the resilience of goat hair, but I'm actually interested in the Shiseido brush for the sake of owning one larger squirrel brush, as I only have the Wayne Goss air-brush. Do you think it represents a good deal as such (it's 58£ here in the UK)? I've read a post on reddit that Hakuhodo is planning a huge price increase for its squirrel brushes this year (up to 40%)...

Epiphany Xiao Sorry, I thought I responded to your comment! I do prefer the Z-1 because it's my favorite squirrel powder brush of all time but the Suqqu face is also lovely. It has coarser hairs than the Z-1 and a tapered tip which is easier to get into the harder-to-reach areas of the face. Such a hard decision! My friend did tell me that the recent Z-1's are made differently from the old ones. The new ones are fluffier now which I take as having less buffing power as the fluffier the squirrel brush, the less dense it is to me. I'm not entirely sure as I haven't felt or tried it in person. Anyway, since the squirrel apocalypse is upon us (kind of), I'd actually get both brushes if I were you LOL. I love them both!!
