Thanks for the review! For those of you who have very sensitive skin, the softness for the brushes are: Surratt Cheek < Chikuhodo RC2 < Surratt Face < Chikuhodo Z1 = Suqqu face = Suqqu cheek, with the last 3 being the softest IMO : )

Some thoughts in case anyone is wondering. I paired all the brushes with Surratt powder product for blush/highlight/contour/powder. Surratt Cheek Pros: Love the stubby round shape! Cons: Wish the bristles were softer for my sensitive skin. Chikuhodo RC2 Pros: affordable squirrel hair fude Cons: A little too big for my liking. It's more of an oval shape rather than round. Can be prickly during winter for sensitive skin. Surratt Face Pros: The softest brush (along with Surratt highlighter brush) in the Surratt brush line. Somehow the Surratt squirrel hair and Chikuhodo RC2 can irritate my skin. Cons: Way too expensive. Not a practical shape for me. Chikuhodo Z1 Pros: Great price for what you are getting (wait for VisageUSA sale!) Cons: Not a practical brush for me as I only precise-powder my face and this brush is too big. Suqqu face Pros: Love the pointed shape! (wait for Harrods 10% sale). Love the narrow handle. A less "bulky" powdering brush. Cons: Each bundling differs and you might get one that does that have a distinct pointed shape. Suqqu cheek Pros: IMO best brush to pair with Surratt blushes. Great for airbrush effect. The only brush I have with me among all the brushes mentioned above. Cons: Might be too sparse for some people (For me this is great as I have cosmetic intolerance. Pairing a pigmented blush with soft airy brushes minimizes the amount of cosmetic products on my skin while I enjoy the fun of putting on makeup.)

Very informative. I guess the Surratt brushes are also manufactured by Japanese brushes company. The powder brush has the same brush head as Z1 from the video.

I love Suqqu face brush for its unique shape and multi functional (I also love to use it for blush). I love it more than my mk1 brush. I think partially because there might be some minor defect on my mk1 brush that they put too much glue inside the ferrule and thus it is less flexible than it should be.

I agree, the Suqqu face is nicer than the MK-1/2. Just wish it kept its shape better. Sorry to hear about your MK-1! I don't like it when the bottom of the ferrule is glued too tightly either.

Very well, then no Suqqu for my cheeks. So between RC2 or z4? I have mostly powder blush and 4 cream ones (I could always use fingers for cream blushes). Beautiful review. I am the person with a small face with very dry skin that wants to age.

Alma Toledo Don't let my review/opinion dissuade you from ordering the Suqqu cheek! If that's the brush that is calling to you, I would get it since you said you have a small face. Also figure out the formula levels of your powder brushes before deciding. I really like both RC-2 and Z-4, but they are two completely different shapes. If you're used to swirling or buffing, the RC-2 would work better and if you're used to sweeping across, the Z-4 would work better. Good luck!

I was very curious about what you thought of the Suqqu brushes. Another great video, thanks for sharing. Would you say the Hakuhodo j210 is the same shape as the Surratt Cheek brush? I love round pompom shaped brushes...

Thanks Soobin! Those are hard to compare as they're completely different hair types. The Surratt cheek brush is closer to the Chikuhodo RC-2. The J210 has a hair length of 30mm while Surratt is 33mm. Since the Surratt is squirrel, the head is a lot more bendy/flexible than the J210. The J210 is extremely dense and has a lot more resistance. It's not a personal favorite as the hairs are too short for my liking. I like pom pom cheek brushes that have longer hairs at 35mm and to have some sort of airiness between the bristles like the Takumi T-4.

Hi Shera! The first brush I compare the Surratt Powder Brush to is the Chikuhodo Z-1 but I accidentally took out the MK-2 right before bringing out the Z-1. You can expand the description box for all the brushes I mentioned. Hope that helps!

Esme ralda The Kyureido KK-002 is the cheaper dupe. The Real Techniques Powder Bleu Soft Finishing Brush looks like the synthetic dupe if you can still find it.

Fude Kyun I have a full set of Suqqu for a few years now, which I enjoy. I'm wondering if Kyureido will have an exact dupe of the Suqqu brushes? I'm always interested and in search of a softer squirrel brush, tfs:)

Kyureido does have exact/near dupes of the Suqqu face, cheek, eyeshadow m and l brushes. There are a good number of comparisons on instagram and blogs as well as on the fude subreddit. From what I've read, the Kyureido/FudeJapan eyeshadow brushes seem to be better than the Suqqu's and the Suqqu face brushes are better (softer/finer) than the Kyureido.

Just got my suqqu powder brush from Harrods few days ago. I was shocked to see there's a patch of fur is shorter in length than the rest which makes it looks like a hole on the dome. It really disappointed me!! Just emailed them and hopefully I'll be able to send it back for an exchange.

Thanks for the review! I'm glad I didn't buy the suqqu cheek brush. It looks too sparse. Those on Lisa Eldridge's videos look denser somehow.

Fude Kyun I bought the blush and sculpting brush recently. Agree with you about the handle. Would love it to have a little bit more weight to it. Are you going to get the BeautylishxChikuhodo set? Would love to know a dupe for the powder brush. I bought kokutan JMG as I thought it looks similar but haven’t received it yet. Also keen to get B507 before the price hike and it looks similar to the collab powder brush. My wallet is staring me and judging me 🤣

Sartika BS How are you liking them? I didn't like the sculpting brush. I will if I manage to snag one before it sells out the next time they release it! The powder brush looks like a smaller version of the T-1. I think the Kokutan JMG and B507 are both very nice brushes! The squirrel and goat mixed brushes feel incredible on the face. I know right? I need to stop buying things looool.

Fude Kyun yes I agree with you. I like the blush brush, very similar to my beloved chikuhodo RC2 (also from your recommendation 😊). The sculpting brush I am not sure yet, at the moment it’s just okay but need to play around with it a bit more. Would love your review on the collab brushes if you manage to get it 😊. Also did you see the awesome looking chikuhodo brush with “silver fox” hair that CDjapan promoting using lottery system thingy. I’m intrigued!!
