Love your photos and that fact you use this simple set up makes it even better. Don’t ever change your gear 😊 Proving again you don’t need to spend thousands.

This means a lot to hear 😌🙏 big believer in it's not about the gear you have, but rather how you use it. Of course gear will change your outcome depending on the situation, but exactly as you said, you don't need to spend thousands, especially right out the gate. Planning to use this set up until it physically can't be used anymore

Great shots! I also own this lens, and somehow it just seems to produce really pleasing images.

Honestly such a refreshing channel. Less about gear, more about the photos and the process. As someone who owns a million cameras, including Leicas, my go-to has become an olympus m4/3 camera with a cheap 17mm prime. Quality of lenses and sensors really doesn’t matter too much at the end of the day as long as you’re out taking photos. Cheers!

Means a lot to hear this, I'm a big believer in it's not about the gear you have, but rather how you use it. Exactly as you said, as long as you're out there taking photos and enjoying your time and the process, that's all that matters. Thank you for watching!!

I watched your video a couple of days ago and it inspired me to find this lens. I got lucky and my local photography shop had a used one in great condition for just $80. Just picked it up today! Keep making videos man. I like your pragmatic and non-pretentious approach to photography.

Howdy Jared. I really enjoyed this video as well. I usually use a 16mm pancake lens on my SONY NEX ( 24mm equiv ) when I do street photography but occassionally use a 30mm ( 45mm equiv ) and I like the results from either. My plans to get to NYC got postponed by a few weeks ( or more ) but when I head to the area I will send you a msg on one of your posts so that maybe I can meet with you to get something to eat, drink, and get some street shooting in if you are up for it. Keep up the great work and I am glad to see that you subscriber #'s are steadily rising. Take care and I'm looking forward to the next video you release.

Hi there! pancake lenses are so great! the 16mm to 24 equivalent would definitely be a challenge for me but would be a fun learning curve to have. That would be great to meetup when you come down!! Definitely let me know. Really crazy to me to see the subscriber rising as well, it's been such a fun and rewarding journey so far. Thanks so much for being here for it all!

Thanks for this amazing video! Super helpful as I’m learning more about street photography. Quick question: What strap are you using for your camera? And when you’re out shooting, do you keep the lens cap off the whole time, or do you use a lens filter to protect against scratches? Would love to hear your thoughts!
@winslow_j15 күн бұрын
Hey Christopher! Aghh I’m glad to hear that! The strap I have on the camera is a wrist strap from the brand “long weekend”, they have them on their website! I do leave the lens cap off the whole time, and I actually have a protective filter on it that I just got off of Amazon, it keeps the lens safe from scratches and in case it falls or hits something. They’re called UV filters if you want to take a look 🙏🏻

Great video Jared! Thanks for sharing. 💯 I know what you mean about that 35mm focal length as 35mm is everything to me. I've tried 50mm and the 18mm but 35mm to me is the sweet spot. Since the lens does not have in body stabilization it is difficult to record video and walk at the same time. LOL! Great job Jared...Keep shooting buddy. 👍🏾
@winslow_j2 ай бұрын
There's the technical explanation for why the lens makes me motion sick that I was looking for 😂 I was thinking it's just because it's a prime and cropped but yeah, that makes sense. Completely agree about this focal length being the sweet spot 🙏 definitely excited to try a true 35mm at some point in the future because I do being just a little bit wider might help in certain situations. Thanks so much though! And thanks for watching 🙏

This was my first prime lens. When I sold my T5 I kept the 24 with me , and I did a hack to use it with my 6D , the field of view becomes a 35. This 24 designs the images the way I like.

What type of settings do you use for your street photography?
@winslow_j2 ай бұрын
To be honest, I keep it very simple and don't change very often. I usually set my iso at either 400 or 800 depending on the lighting, put my camera in shutter priority mode, and set my shutter speed to 500. That's my go-to 95% of the time I'm shooting, and I'll adjust from there depending on the situation!

Nice video, good that you are enjoying the journey, had the same one with a 35mm equivalent, but I was expecting 24mm street content from your title.
@winslow_j2 ай бұрын
Agh yeah I wasn't sure the best way to articulate that in the title since there's a character limit haha but wanted to be clear in the video itself, sorry for the confusion. Really is such a great little lens though that I'll be using for a long while

its EFS , not EF .
@garyives121810 күн бұрын
Right. Going to have to research now. Doesn't that mean it is in fact 24mm FF equivalent mounted to ASP-C body?
@winslow_j3 күн бұрын
@@garyives1218 I actually did say EF-S! haha if you have an aspc body, it will be around a 38mm because of the crop factor 🙏
@garyives12183 күн бұрын
@@winslow_j EF-S lenses are the ones made for ASP-C bodies, and I thought they designated the lenses in that category accordingly. We're thinking that if it was an EF lens, made for full frame, like the 28mm I have (for my APS-C EOS 7D) THEN the crop factor should be taken into account, and it would be considered like a 44mm FF equivalent?
