In this video I share my insights into three popular Canon RF lenses for portrait photography: the RF 85mm 1.2, RF 24-105mm f2.8/f4, and RF 70-200mm 2.8. I'll discuss the strengths and weaknesses of each lens, offering guidance based on factors like versatility, budget, and shooting preferences and which lens is my personal favorite for portrait photography.
Definitely check out Samy's camera if you're looking to try out one of these lenses: 👉 www.samys.com/

Very happy with my own perfect trinity for beauty/fashion/grunge: RF 24-105 F4L, RF 50mm F1.2L and RF 135mm F1.8L.

Besides the fact that I am a Nikon guy ... my favourite is still a 85mm lens ... I personally chose the 1.8 variant, basically for budget and mass, as it is significantly cheaper ans lighter ... In the studio I use a 24-120 a lot.

That's such a great video! I'm just an enthusiastic photographer and I went with the rf 70-200 2.8...... and I could not be happier. It does almost everything. I do still daydream and wonder about getting the 85mm 1.2L at times .....but it is a hard sell especially after already having an rf 70-200

I just traded my ef 70-200 for an RF 70-200 about a year ago and it's a fantastic lens! The only drawback is there is no 2x extender for it! I also purchased an ef-rf converter and use my ef 24-70 2.8 and it's no different from when I used it on my 5dm4! So instead of upgrading all your lenses it's a cost effective alternative!!!!

I dont have any experience with the 24-105 f2.8 - when I'm on location the three lenses I have are the 28-70 f2.0, 85mm f1.2, and 70-200 f2.8. I use the first two lenses 90% of the time. The 85 is my favorite but sometimes I need the flexibility of the 28-70. Ive been toying with the idea of getting a 135mm. thanks

I got the 24-105 f2.8 and hated how the bokeh look at 2.8, it reminds me why I dislike the 24-70 f2.8 when I sold it. The extra reach was nice, but I really dislike how the bokeh on the 24-105 look compared to the 28-70 f2. that 0.8 of an f stops does make a big difference in bokeh and in lowlight. I ended up keeping the 28-70 f2 for portrait and it pairs up beautifully with my 85 1.2

Thanks for this rundown of lenses. My favorite is the 85 1.2 but recently purchased the 24-105 but haven't yet put it to the test. I was also wondering if your indoor shoot shown will be in any of your online classes? Would love to see how you did it. Thanks Lindsay! Beautiful work as always!

I am lucky i get great results with my Tamron 35-150 F2.8 and its also sharp the only draw back is a bit slow at focus. But i am more than happy with the results. Just wide enough and at 150mm it is fine if i need to get closer i use my feet problem solved.

Big no lol😂 I have female clients that hate the compressed look on their facial features , not everyone wants the flat square spongebob look that a 200mm gives unless they are a skinny supermodel. The 200mm is a bloody brick

Am I even allowed to comment using Sony gear 😂😉? Seriously my preferences are GM 35mm F1.4 for environmental portraits, the GM 85mm F1.4 for half or full body shots, and the GM 135mm F1.8 for head shots or half body shots. The 135mm of course can really blur the background, but the downside is you have to be quite far away. For some reason I never really liked 50mm focal length, to me it just looks boring and I prefer 35mm. But again this is completely personal preference.
