If we assume that you can buy the electronics it's easy to just stuff the flight controller inside one of the Flite test dollar tree foam board designs that you can make by printing out the templates, cutting out the foam, and hot gluing it together

Love the Nano Goblin! I’ve flown mine for 86 minutes in one flight, 6 miles out and back, and at speeds up to 120mph. They are way more capable than you would expect from such a small platform.

Although 20 years apart, i've been hit in the face by both a seagull and a nano goblin. While the seagull produced an undesired ouch and the loss of a sandwich, the nano goblin collision made me laugh heartily, so I can personally vouch for Daniel's claim. Amazing how well the camera stabilizes the video.. I've been flying Nano Goblins since they came out and they are a bumpy ride even in calm air. For those of you who haven't flown one. Look how much the camera at the bottom of the screen bounces around! Cheers! LitterBug

I had a bath this morning with the window open. The birds were singing, it was lovely.. for about a minute, then some asshole started using noisy machinery and the seagulls started squawking so I shut the window and sighed to myself. I have flown the heck out of mine up at Snoqualmie. My numbers were not too different from what you experienced at Shasta. Pretty cool for a tiny foam plane. I think the best part about the Nano Goblin is that it’s dead silent. It significantly reduces the complaints you get. In fact most of the conversations I have are people wondering what I’m doing because they can’t figure out where the plane is.

@@oliverer3 Lots of fixed wing mapping going on out there especially in agriculture. I currently fly a now aging homebuilt 84" pusher delta but looking at the stability and endurance of this platform it's something I'm going to look into for sure. A pair of vape cells is sure a lot easier to handle than 3x6000mAh pouch cells, especially when it comes to areas that require multiple flights. I've got $300 worth of battery onboard, he has at most $20 and is getting longer flight times!

There was a swell that day, as I could tell by how far out they were breaking at HB pier. Did you see any of the ultimate ground effect vehicles flowing the updraft from waves? (Pelicans) Also the oil rigs don't take to kindly to flybys these days, especially after the recent spill.

They are more than just ground effect machines, they are also excellent dynamic soarers. That is why you can watch them go from the limit of your vision, across in front of you, and out to the other side limits of vision never flapping a single wing. Look up dynamic slope soaring if you want to see the effect on a large scale. Gliders doing 400 mph. Not kidding.

I’m in the UK, I only fly sub 250gm models now including drones - it’s difficult to get drones sub 250 but Tricopters are a bit easier. I’m using a DLG Glider with a motor more than anything else now, it’s great fun for slopes and beaches! The big bonus is no real restrictions on where you can fly with sub 250gm I do roofing surveys (unpaid) with my drones.

FYI, there is a section of cliffs about 6 miles north of where you were at, in Long Beach, where guys used to fly gliders every afternoon. It was at Ocean Avenue and Redondo Blvd.

I made a ZOHD Talon 250g that can fly for 100min and travel 70km at 249g total weight. Could be modified to HD with some flight time and range sacrified for the higher power need.

No it doesn't. 3.7 volts on a 2 cell lion is still 7.2v. Plenty. You don't fly this wing on 1s.

I don't know what the rules are in the U.S. but here in the U.K. pretty much everything about that flight would be illegal. 🙁 First things first, you have to have line of sight so FPV is all but prohibited except on private property or with a spotter. You are not allowed to fly within 50 metres (160ft) of a road or other peoples property. Sub 250g and these rules don't apply. Lastly we have a ceiling of 120 metres (400ft) above ground level so the only way you could fly at 14,000 ft is if you were at 13,600ft or higher. Nothing that tall here though. 😆 Nice little plane and nice video, it looks quite manoeuvrable as well.

You just made me take my inav/ar900 out of retirement! Thanks! I love my fpv drones and freestyle and proximity flying! But wings are so much more relaxing and enjoyable to just cruse! Stock mine was setup for 3s and flew 62mph max speed! Now it's setup with matek f405se wing fc 55A esc unify pro crossfire M8n mini gps/compass and turtle v2 cam/dvr and gopro and is now blheli32 and 6s with 4s motors 2306 1900kv running 6155x3 prop gps speed 80% throttle 103mph and gets 15 mins flight on a 6s 850mah. 45 mins best time with 6s1800mah 70c and did 44km 1 way still had plenty rssi with 2w crsf and video was mega struggling around 27km but was flyable till 40km and lost video completely till the rth got video back at 42km and realized I had 40% batt left due to headwinds rth I landed 17.8v lol! Batt was cooked! Busted the velcro strap holding it to the fuselage kuz it puffed and any longer in the air it would have burned up! Esc bc the motor was meant for 7" 4s bi blade props! Lol max current peaked at 57A and the heat shrink wrap melted or ripped itself apart from the fets getting heat soaked kuz I tucked the esc into the tail housing and has no airflow back there! Fixed that quick but sadly was my last flight with it! Great video! I deff want a smaller one for neighborhood cruising!

Pro tip for skipping through the Music only parts - click on the three buttons in the bottom right corner - Select open Transcripts and then just Scroll through to where you want. Bonus tip - It also makes it easy to determine the names of the items that he talked about.
