@@joanshealy1662 I use glitter toppers as well, but there are so many other toppers out there (not glitters) that can totally change the look of a polish. Something that looks like sheer yellow with pink shift on the naked nail could make black polish look like a glowy iridescent purple. Then on a different base color, look totally different again.

Starilly Vantablack is my fave of all-time. It’s pretty close to perfect IMHO. I had no idea that Salon Perfections was a sister brand of China Glaze, that’s a cool thing to be aware of! Yup, your eyeshadow does look blue, but it looks great. ☺️ I think you should do your favorite white polishes next.

Painted Polish Midnight Mischief!! PP has a line of one coat creams that are usually called "Stamped in ___" but I think the black was her first one. Also hope you still do a video on your fave black shimmers or glitters! I guess if there's not a lot, you can group them with silver or something haha.

My fav is Essie Licorice and AEngland Camelot lines black. Both are one coaters. I don't find either good for stamping. I use Twinkled_T, Painted Polish and Born Pretty stamping imho work best for me. MoYou is secondary. I wasn't impressed with brand u use. I found the formula thin but I haven't tried them in over 4 years.

I think kelli Mariska is a awesome presenter. I like to use essie's liquorice for putting on black tips, but not much else. it chips super easy and the brushes are super thin. It's definitely a super opaque polish compared to most of their other ones though that need 2-3 coats for me! For the price of Essie polish, I would rather buy something else.

I used to exclusively buy Essie, but their colors aren’t very interesting from collection to collection and I find the coverage to be lacking compared to OPI or other brands. I think they’re a good intro brand, but I’ve grown out of them. They did make the perfect neon purple last summer though, and I literally bought three bottles!

My favorite one-coat black cream polish is Live Love Polish, “Little Black Dress” - it’s perfect in every way - love the rectangular bottle, the brush is great, and the formula is creamy, opaque, and self-leveling. Love it! I haven’t heard you talk about Live Love but their polishes are worth checking out. Specifically, their green glitter polish called Matsu is one of my all time favorites. I think you’d love it!

Cuticula Licorice is awesome as well. I think it's labeled as a stamping polish, but I've used it for a full manicure and it was great. I found it had better coverage than the China Glaze or OPI, which are never one coaters for me

4 years later.... but i just wanna say the eyemakeup is dope. the reason it looks blue is it's a blue-leaning set of greys. i wouldn't have called it a b&w even just looking at your palette. but then i'm really obsessed with color, and years of prismacolor pencils, and markers, and later paint, and i always key into nuance. love the palette. :D

I love Salon Perfect's Oil Slick. I use it as my standard for black polish. I consider it and Holo Taco's One Coat Black to be very close. Edit: I think a lot of grayscale shadows tend to lean toward the cool side of things rather than be just a flat gray. That could be why it's a little blue.

I'm currently wearing a manicure with China Glaze "Liquid Leather" and "Fast Track," and I completely agree with what you said: awesome polish with awesome coverage. You eyeshadow is reading blue, and I don't think it's your hair. I think the greys in that palette have blue-purple undertones and aren't true greys. Still looks great!

Live Love Polish’s “LBD” is another fantastic black that’s opaque in one coat. I have both LBD and Holo Taco’s One Coat Black, but I usually reach for LBD because the formula is just as smooth as butter and I love it.

I love the Holo Taco black! I put it on a couple of days ago and it was so pretty, I almost hated to put a magnetic polish on top (especially one that is no longer performing well). I think the eyeshadow looks gray, but all grays have a bluish undertone so it makes sense it leans that way on the spectrum.

But for some reason Black Onyx and Alpine Snow, which are like the staple black and white, are really tough for me to work with, they just don’t level out nicely when I use them. Before it was discontinued, Revlon's Top Speed Black Magic was one of THE great one-coat black polishes, if not the best at its price point/availabilty. It was as good or better than most expensive or indie brands. What elevated it above so many others? QUICK-DRY FORMULA. In about 90 seconds, you had a deep, rich, one-coat black polish to get out the door...or get right to work on nail art. A magnificent polish. So sad that they don't make it anymore.

Another hand mixed by 1 lady indie brand that has great one coat black and white polishes is Braves Diva polish. Self level, stamps well, and a great value at $8.50 for 15mL. She has other great polishes as well, prices ranging from $8.50- $13.50. The black is currently sold out but she does restock fairly often.

I absolutely love Cristine (with no H) but I have a hard time with One Coat Black. No matter how hard I try to float the top coat over the black I always get black on the brush. It's probably just me. My go to is China Glaze Liquid Leather. I had no idea that Salon Perfect and China Glaze are sister brands. I always learn so much from you Kelli. Your whole outfit/makeup ensemble is gorgeous today. You look absolutely amazing.

Yeah I find that happens to me too, I think it's just due to stiffer brushes in the bottles so it's harder to float them!

I am using the opi right now, and was a little disappointed that it seemed like it got marked up, when I was waiting for it to dry. (I ALWAYS do 2 coats minimum) It did work well though as a base, when I put glitter over it!

@@KelliMarissa the opi top coat seems to take forever to harden, so I usually use Sally Hanson "dries instantly" for my top. I want to get into using gel, but that's like an entirely different universe! 😳

Have you seen the new blush lacquers collection (called film noir)? It’s a monochrome spectrum of creme polishes that look really impressive in terms of coverage in the swatch vids. The black looks great, and it is a wide curved brush.

I think the greys showed up blue bc you put them on your skin tone, which isn't white but yellowish. If you have a white eyeshadow base or primer underneath I think the greys will show up more true to colour? Hope that helps!

I am absolutely in love with people who can wear all black or all white manicures. I love the look of them so much. But I cannot wear them myself. My favourite black is from the pound shop. One coater, quickly drying, good for gradients, goes on and dries smooth, and £1!

Oooh, I actually have one of these - the China Glaze one! I bought it on special offer for Halloween and I've never used it as my nails have constantly been broken since then and all I have are the fingernails on my little fingers. My nails are very annoying lol.

You started out with my favorite - SP Oil Slick! Salon Perfect and China Glaze are my favorite brands and the SP Plumping Gel Gel Effect Topcoat (yes, it says Gel 2× on the label lol) is the BEST non-gel topcoat I've ever used. It's quick-dry and it is super durable.

I did get the Starrily one coat when I got the diamond rain but I like that now I know where to get others. Let's see the whites now, then greys and last the specials. Lol that sounded demanding. Sorry I'm excited to see.
