This is the perfect ink…the color of the sky on a dark stormy day, the color of the North Atlantic in winter, the color of the ink in the old letters I have written by long dead relatives…it’s my color.

Oh yes, those are such beautiful correlations, thank you so much for sharing. I’m going to write this down in my journal. You’ve conjured up so many feelings and emotions with those descriptions. Do you have this ink?
@geslinam9703
@geslinam9703 3 жыл бұрын
@@adventuredenali yes, I do have it, it’s one of the first inks I ever bought…probably after seeing you use it in a video last year. It’s hard to say why one loves a color, isn’t it? Just saying “It’s pretty” isn’t enough. When I woke up today, before I even opened my eyes, I could tell the light had changed, that the relentless sunshine of the past few weeks was gone - it’s gray and darker out there and it’s going to rain. I love the rain. I think I associate colors most with weather, or nature, and the more somber shades of blue are so appealing to me. Prussian blue is a soothing, comfortable color, like rainy days and faded old denim. Sometimes I mix it with Diamine Salamander, which gives you a muted, murky green. I currently have this ink in two pens, a Platinum President and a Platinum 3776, both mediums (platinum medium nibs are very fine) My President model is sold as “burgundy,” though it’s really a rusty, brick red, and compliments the Prussian Blue ink very nicely. I would love to put it in my 823 but I’m just too damn chicken to it apart and clean it. I love that pen, but it intimidates me.

Well, the combination she is speaking of helps, greatly. You have to have a nice handwriting, of course, hah, that’s a sine qua non. But the tools are so important! I am currently writing in beautiful laid paper which, unfortunately, is problematic. Firstly, it absorbs ink very well... which is actually a good thing, but it does so well that it dries out fine nibs with small reservoirs. That results in skipping. The texture is beautiful to behold and feel... but that means bumps. So my handwriting does not “swim”, to use her own words. I will need to find the right pen and ink for this paper: most likely a wet writer with a medium nib.

When you described the ink as a dusty chalky blue, I realized you described my current favorite ink; Lennon Tool Bar Atmospheric Night Sky. It is such a chalky blue that is almost purple, or periwinkle if you will. But it's also permanent/waterproof! So - perfect for journaling. :) Also, I'm currently using blank tomoe but you're making me miss Leuchtturm! That is my other favorite paper for sure. And lined! I miss the ease of lines.

I tried out and bought the pen based on your recommendation. I got the medium nib because I found it to be smaller than western nibs. So the medium was closer to a fine and offered that right amount of feedback. I really liked the amber color pen which is closer to a brown than yellow and went with the Montblanc James Purdey Cigar Ink (a darker, almost saddle leather color brown). The pen writes beautifully on my Rodea day planner and Leuchtturm 1917 journal.

I must say your handwriting is just superb. I am also a small writer but your combination of cursive penmanship and small writing just blows away anything I have seen in a long while. Definitely agree on the Leuchtturm 1917 A5 notebook as the best notebook and paper for some of the same reasons (hard cover, spacing, page numbering, paper quality and wonderful feedback when used with the perfect fountain pen) as you've mentioned. For me, my EDCs' vary between my three favorite inks, Diamine Majestic Blue and Aurora Black / Edelstein Onyx (business inks) but Majestic Blue has become my everyday favorite. For me, Pilot Custom Kaede Maple Fountain Pen with a 14k Gold Fine Nib just feels perfect although a bit lighter than I would like. In fact, majority of my favorite pens are Pilots, Platinum and Sailors due to how nicely they write and all some small measure of feedback which I feel enhances the writing experience. My Pilot 823 unfortunately is suffering from a Baby Bottoms issue which hope to address once the Pandemic subsides.

I also have small handwriting. My pen of choice is the Aurora Afrika, which is beautiful and light to hold, with an 18-carat extra fine nib. It is simply a joy to write with! Noodler's Ink Turquoise is the everyday ink, but I use the Noodler's Ink Apache Sunset ink with my Parker Desk Set pen (1930 vintage) when I am feeling demonic... it feels like I am writing with flames. The paper is Tomoe River. It feels nice. I have Aurora ink, but it seems like it never dries on the paper. Montblanc & Waterman inks of a variety of colors to mix things up from time to time. And a big old-fashioned blotter. Clonk.

Realty enjoyed this video. Just subscribed this morning after watching this video. I got into fountain pens a few years ago after I bought my first Lamy Safari (sort of an electric yellow/green w/ EF nib) and have continued to expand my “collection”. I have way to many but I try to use them all, rotating them every week or so, and that sort of justifies my continuous acquisitions. I will have to say that TWSBI is my favorite brand…just fell hard for the piston pens and the prices have really never killed my urge to buy. As for ink, I absolutely love Diamine Ancient Copper but have opted to use TWSBI’s Sapphine Blue for daily use. My favorite pen? That’s a hard one! It changes every time I get a new pen lol. Opus 88 Demostrator, TWSBI Prussian Blue Diamond 580ALR, Diplomate Aero…goodness…and thirty more I could name! Unfortunately I’m hooked on EF or F (depending on the manufacture) though I have tried broader nibs it doesn’t work out for me because I have tiny handwriting. Last is paper. I tend to buy lots of Rhoda notebooks and notepads. I don’t know how many times I’ve attempted to start journaling! It’s a huge fail on my part…I’ve taken to my iPad for that using DayOne. I really want to give it another go though…any suggestions on how I can stick with it? As I said before, the vid was very enjoyable, and I’m gonna finish up with the rest of them this week.

This video must be for me. Thank you. I recently received a Pilot 823 and have been using the lueuchturrm notebooks for years. But not all inks work well on it. I am looking forward to trying the Prussian Blue!

Love the ink. One of my favorites. Prefer the Tomeo River paper. I have about 6 favorite pens but will often go to my Waterman Carene with a stub nib. I also love my Platinum 3776 Century in the Burgundy in which I’ve installed a Platinum Music nib. As you can maybe tell, I’m not a small writer.

What an absolutely lovely video. Your voice is so calm and soothing. Could listen to it for hours. Your taste in pen and paper is excellent. And your handwriting is lovely. Also, I'm digging that couch in the background.

I couldn’t agree more about the feel of the friction between paper and nib. Love my needlepoints & crisp italics! You should try out William Hannah. Their leather journals & paper are insanely good. The paper allows for ‘crisper’ lines than the Leuchtturm but still has that slight tooth. Pricey but worth it!

I’m still searching, but my paper is definitely Clairefontaine. I was sure you would have said Rhodia. I am in love with Birmingham inks. I always need at least two colors. Still trying to decide about my pen, but I love the TWSBI RGII Mini in medium. I’ve been intentionally practicing to improve my cursive writing (I’m a lefty), but yours is so unique and beautiful I love to watch you writing.

You are the first one to re-inspire me to get into fountain pens again. One of your earlier reviews on the 823 and how it was your favorite kickstarted me back into writing and really doing it for pleasure. The Pilot Custom 823 is still my most wanted pen, I decided to start cheap and appreciate some differences between them. I also bought a few different inks and notebooks. I was wondering if you had sampled a lamy hard back notebook? They too have an elastic book keep, and two nylon type book markers. It is the closest thing I have yet to your notebook and it has very similar attributes paperwise. Having seen the grid on mine I think I prefer grid now to keep my lettering neat.

Dang….guessed the ink brand right, but not colour; completely messed up the pen, where I was thinking Kaweco or your new Pelikan 🤦🏻‍♂️ how could I forget the 823! It’s my favourite too. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Then for some reason I was thinking Stalogy paper when I know you always carry Leuchtturm. What is wrong with me? 😂 I’ve never tried Prussian Blue ink, however blue is my favourite colour so it looks like I’m buying some 😃 It’s also refreshing to watch someone who is not using the tomoe river every day as that gives me some other paper to think about. You were one of the reasons I got my first ever Leuchtturm notebook. But I am a total tomoe river nerd. Got loads of books with it. Some go back to 2013 or so and were handmade in Japan. Anyway, I’m rambling, thx Alicia 😃👍🏻

I tried leuchtturm after reading that Gaiman liked them. Unfortunately I completely hated it. My choice is pads with Oxford Optik paper. I also liked the Diamine Prussian blue, but I preferred the Blue-black by Aurora

Could you consider putting a shining sun top right into page one too! The base of the page could slowly shade down to a darker blue. A watermark that's a palm tree leaning inward too. But, what to write? A recipe. Breakfast. Two poached eggs - 6.30s Four slices of ham, folded. Well-branded hollandaise sauce, two teaspoonful. Two slices of 400g wholemeal bread, Lurpaked A sprinkle of? You decide.

Hi, it is one of the first videos of you that I see, I really like the way in which you express yourself, and how confident you look when talking about what you are passionate about. I was looking for a good blue ink color to use, and as I am not able to get many differents ink I have to be careful with my choice, now I think I would give a chance to the Prussian Blue you showed here, so thanks for share your experience and your emotion about all of this, please, never stop changing opinion be free and live more adventures. Many of us will be glad to see you soon. Nothing can change a mind but the fervor with which an idea is expressed.

Oh I recently tried a Prussian Blue sample and I’m considering getting a bottle for sure! :) it’s a gorgeous ink, very well performing. For some reason the name of this ink also is very inspiring. Makes me want to read history.

I've always used leuchtturm1917 paper and felt like it was my dirty secret. There's higher grade paper out there that I own, but after a few months switching, there's just nothing better for me. My hands shake a little bit and the texture of the leuchtturm1917 paper is perfect for dampening that. I like the standard paper and the 120 g paper. The 120 can take Serious ink and wetness and the standard paper I actually liked it it shows through and looks somewhat used up after you write on both sides. Also, I'm not a fan of the look of the 823 really either. I love pilots though. I love the pilot custom heritage 912. It's similar, but a converter pen. It can take the really large con 70 converter, and it comes in soooo many nib options and it has such wonderful lines, design wise. Modern but timeless look. In a picture it might just look like a larger version of a falcon but it's so much more. The proportions are wonderful the resin is better and thicker and the nibs are much bigger. If you buy straight from Japan on eBay it can be had for a very affordable price😊 My was in smoke.

So I got the notepad a few weeks ago - love it! Got the ink to try this week. I needed cartridges from a pen I've inherited. It writes really well but is a smaller nib than I tend to use. It's a beautiful colour, just need to decide what to use it for. Might be good for small notebooks when I'm out and about.

For me it’s Diamine Oxford Blue, a Conklin medium nib, and Leuchterm annual planner. Line spacing could be a little wider but paper is great. I forget the Conklin but it’s beautiful and just glides. The Oxford Blue is the first large bottle of ink I’ve purchased - have several smaller Noodlers and Waterman choices.

Nice selection! My favorite setup is a Ranga Model 3 in flat black ebonite with a fine Bock Titanium nib, Iroshizuku Asa-Gao (also a flatter blue but brighter than the Diamine), and Dingbats Wildlife collection. I need a little feedback from the paper and I need lines to control my horrible handwriting; otherwise my journal looks like a crime scene.

I have a Pilot 743, same size 15 Pilot nib as the 823 and the barrel is equally unremarkable. I'm tempted to have a custom barrel and cap created for it by a custom maker like Shawn Newton. I like how some inks have a distinct texture -- "chalky" Prussian blue. I think that Diamine Majestic Purple has a royal velvety texture.
