Thank you so much! I wish I had more help to offer. I learned to write in cursive as a little kid in elementary school, and just fell in love with it. There are books available though, and KZbin tutorials! The style of script can differ, I forget all the styles but D’nealian and Spencerian are the two that come to mind. I ordered some Kaweco pens just now, along with ink cartridges and a Leuchtturm 120g notebook. If I feel my commonplace book project works out well, I may rob a bank and get me some kind of Japanese pure diamond fancy ass fountain pen. That's mostly a joke. I do love to think of certain tools as important treasures that have souls and I feel a connection to. It's a kind of magic Ibelieve in. I adore all my vintage Sheaffer pens. And the Oversize Balance (I have two) pens was one of my earliest favorites. My pair are filled with Sheaffer Skrip Blue and Skrip Brown. I don’t have a Parker ink in my collection. I notice you have the older Balance with the humped clip. One of mine is the same. These pens are true keepers. When people wax lyrical about the Parker 51’s iconic, revolutionary status in design and style, I always have to chime in with the fact that the Sheaffer Balance was every bit as original, iconic and pioneering in its torpedo design and overall aesthetics in that era. Cool to see you give love and attention to your Balance pen. I applaud that! 👍

That is so marvelous! There is just something so special about the Balance. I’ve never tried the Parker 51 to be honest. I know it has a great reputation and is well loved by many, but it just never appealed to me. I’ll have to give the Sheaffer inks a try one day!

@@adventuredenali …I have a pair of Parker 51s. Lovely pens with a deserved reputation. But I admire and prefer the vintage Aurora 88 (a pen that is often compared to the P51 as a later rival) even more. And I love my vintage Sheaffer pens more than the P51. The Sheaffer Skrip inks are nothing fancy or special in appearance, ‘boring’ even. But I like them for their ordinariness, dependability, and a certain charm of their own. The vintage Skrip inks appeal to me even more. That is what I have in my two Oversize Balance pens. You may also love the Vac-filler Balance, too. Full sized but slender. And sexy to the tee. I have one and love it dearly.

I enjoy your pen and ink pairings. Ironically, I have several bottles of Sheaffer's inks from the past, and none seem to like Sheaffer's pens, compared with other inks. Currently, the 1920's Sheaffer's I'm using has 1930s Carter's washable blue in, because it just works well for any pen I've used it in. Best behaved ink I own. 😁 Generally a "boring, standard" ink, but it works for any pen and paper I've tried (not paper towels or toilet paper. Yet. 😁) It's always interesting when someone showcases a "tried and true" ink, as opposed to the latest "colour or special properties" ink of the week. I have a bottle of Parker Quink microfilm black from the WWII era, which looks like the Parker Quink still sold today. Guess that when it still works, why change it a lot? 😉 (I really like the "boring old inks" from the past. 😁) Though I'm not really a journal type, the products you have shown still have interest to me. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on them!

Hello love! Would you say the custom 823 with their diamine ink it kind of drags? Me and my friend haveve been testing inks cause we are looking for specifics…. Long story short… Our conclusion both Monteverde and diamine inks tend to drag. :(. Then we compared it to the iroshizuku inks and the difference was night and day. Therefore we don’t use them with the pilot pens in our experience. (We’re still on the case to find brand alternatives) Your thoughts??
@jamesaritchie13 жыл бұрын
No, just no. I don't know what your testing procedure is, but it's wrong. Not just wrong, but backwards. There are real, scientific ways to test inks, and Iroshizuku, while I love it, has more drag than almost any ink out there,. Diamine, on the other hand, has less drag, and Monteverde has nearly zero drag. I think your perception is coloring the results of your tests. The truth is that no ink has very much drag at all, and the differences are so minute that you're really always measuring your own perception, rather than the ink.
