Thank you so much! I wish I had more help to offer. I learned to write in cursive as a little kid in elementary school, and just fell in love with it. There are books available though, and KZbin tutorials! The style of script can differ, I forget all the styles but D’nealian and Spencerian are the two that come to mind. Goulet Pens sells a book called “The Art of Cursive,” which might be a great starting place! www.gouletpens.com/products/the-art-of-cursive-penmanship-book?gclid=CjwKCAiAy_CcBhBeEiwAcoMRHCfcjLUbEdacKXlOK96Rg_swlus3Atwbe69v8A8uvZ8j_dxTWOo9cxoCKMwQAvD_BwE

@@adventuredenali When I was a kid in school I was told my penmanship was as beautiful as the most devoted girls. (i'm an artist.) That didn't last long, though, as after a couple of years my handwriting morphed into, to borrow Chris' delightful phrase above, drunk spider style. Watching you write makes me want to attempt to improve my handwriting. And thanks for being so purely female. Ladies lke you make the world more civilized, appealing, and less hard edged. @@adventuredenali Others seem to appreciate my weird handwriting more than I do, but I'm frankly horrified by it. This is a great channel you've made. I ordered some Kaweco pens just now, along with ink cartridges and a Leuchtturm 120g notebook. If I feel my commonplace book project works out well, I may rob a bank and get me some kind of Japanese pure diamond fancy ass fountain pen. That's mostly a joke. I do love to think of certain tools as important treasures that have souls and I feel a connection to. It's a kind of magic Ibelieve in. So at sme point I'll be researchign carefully before procuring a more advanced pen. I'm sure your channel will be very helpful for that. Cheers.

I really enjoy this series. So far I haven't found perfect combinations like this, but I'm always on the look out for them. That said I love how Diamine Ancient Copper works with my Kaweco Brass F nib. Glad I'm not alone on loving the way Parker bottle caps sound and feel and the vintage ones are even better!! I had an old half empty bottle of a Parker Blue ink that I found in my grandmother's house, last year I found out that that ink was what they used to write to each other. The ink is gone but I still keep the empty bottle and their letters.

I adore all my vintage Sheaffer pens. And the Oversize Balance (I have two) pens was one of my earliest favorites. My pair are filled with Sheaffer Skrip Blue and Skrip Brown. I don’t have a Parker ink in my collection. I notice you have the older Balance with the humped clip. One of mine is the same. These pens are true keepers. When people wax lyrical about the Parker 51’s iconic, revolutionary status in design and style, I always have to chime in with the fact that the Sheaffer Balance was every bit as original, iconic and pioneering in its torpedo design and overall aesthetics in that era. Cool to see you give love and attention to your Balance pen. I applaud that! 👍

That is so marvelous! There is just something so special about the Balance. I’ve never tried the Parker 51 to be honest. I know it has a great reputation and is well loved by many, but it just never appealed to me. I’ll have to give the Sheaffer inks a try one day!

@@adventuredenali …I have a pair of Parker 51s. Lovely pens with a deserved reputation. But I admire and prefer the vintage Aurora 88 (a pen that is often compared to the P51 as a later rival) even more. And I love my vintage Sheaffer pens more than the P51. The Sheaffer Skrip inks are nothing fancy or special in appearance, ‘boring’ even. But I like them for their ordinariness, dependability, and a certain charm of their own. The vintage Skrip inks appeal to me even more. That is what I have in my two Oversize Balance pens. You may also love the Vac-filler Balance, too. Full sized but slender. And sexy to the tee. I have one and love it dearly.

So far, pilot steel nibs (F and EF, in my Cavalier and 78g) with Waterman Serenity Blue, have been showing the best performance among the inks I own. Very interesting idea for satchel. I enjoy your pen and ink pairings. Ironically, I have several bottles of Sheaffer's inks from the past, and none seem to like Sheaffer's pens, compared with other inks. Currently, the 1920's Sheaffer's I'm using has 1930s Carter's washable blue in, because it just works well for any pen I've used it in. Best behaved ink I own. 😁 Generally a "boring, standard" ink, but it works for any pen and paper I've tried (not paper towels or toilet paper. Yet. 😁) It's always interesting when someone showcases a "tried and true" ink, as opposed to the latest "colour or special properties" ink of the week. I have a bottle of Parker Quink microfilm black from the WWII era, which looks like the Parker Quink still sold today. Guess that when it still works, why change it a lot? 😉 (I really like the "boring old inks" from the past. 😁) Though I'm not really a journal type, the products you have shown still have interest to me. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on them!

Hello love! Would you say the custom 823 with their diamine ink it kind of drags? Me and my friend haveve been testing inks cause we are looking for specifics…. Long story short… Our conclusion both Monteverde and diamine inks tend to drag. :(. Then we compared it to the iroshizuku inks and the difference was night and day. Therefore we don’t use them with the pilot pens in our experience. (We’re still on the case to find brand alternatives) Your thoughts??
@jamesaritchie1
@jamesaritchie1 3 жыл бұрын
No, just no. I don't know what your testing procedure is, but it's wrong. Not just wrong, but backwards. There are real, scientific ways to test inks, and Iroshizuku, while I love it, has more drag than almost any ink out there,. Diamine, on the other hand, has less drag, and Monteverde has nearly zero drag. I think your perception is coloring the results of your tests. The truth is that no ink has very much drag at all, and the differences are so minute that you're really always measuring your own perception, rather than the ink.

I've done that, and it didn't work for me. I feel like 80% of the pen is the nib, and when I don't like the line it lays down, I don't use the pen, no matter how expensive it was. Of course - sometimes the nibs can be changed.......

@@elizabethwaggoner7126 So you'll prefer to pay 40-50€ more per pen to get the point you really want (F) instead of the one you feel so-so with (M)? P.S. No way to exchange the nib, out of production.

@@wombofthevoid I know my own answer and already did act accordingly. Just wanted to know others' opinions. Thank you! 👍🏻

Excellent replies. Mauricio, you did well. Keeping a pen with undesired nib is frustrating after a while. Hope you enjoy your new purchase. 😊

Every pen and ink combination I like bleeds through Leuchtturm like it was newspaper. It's just useless. I do love the Sheaffer Balance, though. It's one of my favorite pens.

That’s too bad! I’ve been lucky so far with the inks I’ve chosen apparently! And yes, it’s a great pen.

Good evening, Miss. If we may be bold: your writing discipline may be compared to the discipline of a Deutsche Heer military band.

What do you need the pocket knife for. What is your intention with concealing a deadly weapon in your possession. 🤔😳😬🙀

Haha, it’s really handy for lots of things. Opening boxes in my car (because sometimes I’m impatient when collecting things from the post office), cutting loose threads, cutting up an apple when out on a hike, doing a little whittling in the woods… Even when at home, I’ll need to cut something and know just where to collect it as it’s usually not very far away from me. It certainly has never been intended as a weapon, it’d probably fold up and injure me if I ever tried, lol.
