1:18 I think that's a valve spring compressor pliers. 2:41 That's a clay skeet thrower for skeet shooting. I've started shopping at the little pawn stores mainly because when I find a product I really like, like a certain model of Dewalt drill that they don't make anymore, I can find one there. Also been handy for craftsman tools where I've had broken parts.

We used to have a place called the Whoppee Bowl (south east Michigan). The owners were originally going to put in a low rent amusement part but opted to sell industrial surplus and various lots of very odd things (but kept the name). More eclectic than the shop there, they actually had the best popcorn I've ever had. The also sold this mysterious glow in the dark sticker sheets.

My dad and I used to find tools and stuff on the dump before they were regulated. Most of his tools came from there, all Sidchrome stuff as well. My brother and I used to find bikes on the dump as well, and we'd fix them up and sell them, from cheap bikes to really old rust buckets like this old lugged up Ricardo road bike that rode like a dream, or we'd source parts if we couldn't pull them out, like levers, derailleurs, old dynamo lights and the like. We lived close to Sydney, and because dumping inner city cost a lot, it was cheaper for them to drive a couple hours to the dumps near us. It was amazing what people threw away.

Hey rj big fan and looking to start modifying some bikes of my own but the task is daunting to say the least. Have you ever thought of doing a step by step but more in depth? For instance converting x bike for a certain purpose? I know you have videos dedicated to that slightly but I mean from going from a mid 90’s rock hopper to a 1x conversion with drop bars and disc brakes. And with each video explaining the parts and how they function? Talking in depth about different bottom brackets and hubs? Sort of a follow along DIY quest. I’m gonna keep watching regardless I dig what you’re putting out thanks.

You never said and the first comments I read never said - it's probably a Pawn Shop. It looks a lot like the tool section in like my local Pawn Shop; except mine dumps mixed SAE and Metric tools in 5-gallon buckets. More of a dig to find a particular part, but it's worth it. Picked up a 13mm Box/Open end to grind into a Cone Wrench for a cruiser bike I'm rebuilding for my wife. Also got a 3/4" x 3/8" drive socket for my travel trailer and a 1-1/8" x 3/8" drive socket for just-in-case. They didn't even charge me anything for the tools - they charge by the pound and said they wouldn't even 'weigh out'. Nice guys.

Stephen Morton I wasn’t really referring to the rust, more so the fact that tools found at pawnshops were often left out in the elements, sitting in the dirt, etc. I had a friend who’s dad had a car shop behind his house, and more often than not we would find tools and screws and stuff buried in dirt several days after a storm, rusted over and still moist. It’s a breeding ground for C. tetani, just like manure, as you suggested with the horseshoe comment
