It’s calling striping and it happens when the metallic flake doesn’t lay down evenly. Also if you want a glossier finish shoot it with a clearcoat.

I like the shiny metallic color you applied as opposed the dull purple that kit came. Cool display case setup ,definitely more space in the room. I liked this kit and the other old ones like sleeping Eevee and attack Pikachu! Your painted version does look a lot better than the straight build! The reason it looks like two different colors is because it's metallic and the pieces were painted at two different angles. Metallic paint takes a direction as it's sprayed. I used to see it a lot when I worked in a body shop. I sent parts back to be repainted once in a while, bc the same exact paint can look horrible if the prepper or painter doesn't orient the parts well for paint and blend.

Cool thing about hobby lobby (at least the last 5 I’ve went to) is that they rotate their 40% off deal per section weekly. So if you ask an employee when that discount hits the model kits you can see a crazy price drop on everything.

Meli, if that Krylon bugs you, maybe you'll like Testors One Coat Lacquer "Purple-licious". That should also take care of the runs and texturing. And yes, applying it over a gloss black base would be recommended. As far as the pronunciation of Vallejo, it's "Va-LAY-ho".

you need to try the gundam marker airbrush system! you can make your own paints and put them into empty gundam markers which 3rd party versions work well good on~! (zero clean up, it jams up sometimes but overall it runs very well considering there is no clean up) Also a strong ventilator box to suck out the gasses from paint is also a well worth while investment! (am sure you already knew tha tthough)

so what is your problem with Hobby Lobby? Do you have a Michaels in the area? If you are looking for other options for paint, try your local farm and home store. Next challenge is painting in the shiny color. That would be more of a challenge possibly since it is more of a gray color. Thanks for showing us your car since I don't I've ever seen it.

I'm not a fan of Hobby Lobby neither but when they have 40% off model kit the gunpla could be crazy cheap. I got a RG Zeong for $31 tax included! They even had MG Eclipse Gundam of the same price there of about the same price. And it's a 5 mins drive store to me vs. a 30+ mins drive respectable hobby shop otherwise. They are like necessary evil to me

5:18 ~ 9:00 Hobby Lobby It's pretty clear Hobby Lobby is paying more attention to Gunpla fans and the paints & tools people are buying. 9:13 This is how Bandai gets us all the time. They include 'optional' parts to _encourage_ us to buy multiples. 10:36 I prefer the tone that the kit comes in. But the paint is okay I guess. The paint looks a bit dark. What you could've done is just given the bare plastic a glossy or semi glossy top coat to make it look less plastic.
