like honestly ugh. i am a person who has infinite dealbreakers. i'm autistic. i have ocd. i have ptsd. i have ibs. i have fibromyalgia and use a cane, so whenever i'm walking for long distances, i need to take breaks. i will sit down on public floors because of this. i was a chronic bedwetter into my teenage years. i sleep-talk. sometimes i scream SO LOUD in my sleep, or even wake up screaming. i'm intersex - a lot of people wouldn't be okay with that, or feel attracted to someone with mostly "feminine" features but "masculine" body hair/odor/etc, especially since my partner considered themself a cishet man when we began dating. they're half my weight, a lot of people wouldn't want to be seen with someone twice theirs. he loves me so much. adores every single thing about me. she thinks fat baddies are the most beautiful, loves listening to me infodump, meets my sensory needs, is so patient when i'm triggered, is so understanding that intrusive thoughts mean nothing, always asks if i need a break, adores every feature i have - masculine, fat, any of it. i am so so so so lucky and everyone can find their person.

I haven't peed my pants in front of a date, but I did fully pee myself in front of my roommate once recently (I was actively having a stroke [I was home for reasons I don't want to get into on a public comment], so it's honestly expected for me to lose control like that). He, no hesitation, helped me get to the toilet and wiped the floor while I finished in the toilet, helped me out of my soiled panties and into new ones, and even wiped down my legs for me. We're purely platonic and he's still my very best friend. I'm so lucky to have him. That episode is a big reason why I trust him so intensely. He's made it clear he doesn't care that it happened and he still sees me the exact same way. People that react like that in humiliating situations are lifesavers.

I was the same way. My mom worked with the school district and sometimes I’d just randomly run into her in the hallways of my high school sometimes and I’d hug her without a second thought. I’ve just never been able to relate to these types of stories lol. Ok except for my dad but to be fair his social etiquette needs some work sometimes. He loves airplanes and will identify their models as they fly by and once on a restaurant patio shouted “it’s a *insert plane type here* bomber!!”. Everyone looked terrified. I hate tipping culture because it just benefits the corps. Wait staff should be PAID FOR THEIR TIME, and not have to fight their employers for proper pay. Example in the US if your tips are less then minimum wage then your boss has to pay you the difference, BUT if you ask for the difference they will fire you for "other reasons". Tipping is a BAD policy because workers should be compensated for work without vagaries of people's will. I still tip.

Last story: i had the same issue when I was a kid - couldnt even tell people i needed to use the bathroom because i was too ashamed - and it was seriously so humiliating. I remember being sent to the nurse because i smelled like urine. I used to randomly sit down on the sidewalk when i went out with my family to try not to pee myself. nobody asked but the pee story reminded me of when on my second date with my now spouse, we took acid together (we were teenagers don't judge us lol) and I threw up everywhere and had to stay over the toilet for like three hours of the beginning of the trip. As for the guy worrying about paying his wife - I agree that she probably needs to have some form of thanks given, in order to feel like she is truly worth being loved. Women often view sex through both an emotional and physical lens. Feeling "frumpy" and exhausted from the day-to-day worries can really bring a girl down. And if love is viewed like a bucket - as in you can give love out, but if there is nothing refilling it, then at some point everything is going to stop. The husband giving her gifts she wants/has requested/has commented on when they are out and about, would be an act of giving that helps to refill her bucket. If her love language responds to acts of giving, then even getting money to pay for things she wants is not necessarily an unhealthy thing. It may just be the way her emotional and physical self work - given money to buy the things she likes helps her feel appreciated. And, of course, if it doesn't bother the OP too much, if he's found something that works for them, then he should be happy with that (this comes from my experience with medical issues and a variety of medications which kill sex-drive. It's much more difficult for me to have energy for sex. This has been solved by us in various ways, but I still need a lot more energy than I've got to cope with the pain (internal nerve sensitivity makes things painful in my hips and legs), but my partner is very understanding and makes sure to give me a thorough massage as I drift to sleep, after, and he is happy, like OP, that anything is happening at all. Clearly, if OP's wife has the same reaction to receiving gifts she has asked for, and receiving money, and likes getting and giving attention to him as a result of that, then OP should just go with it. But make sure that he pays attention while they're out so that he can give her gifts that make her feel appreciated, as well as money, so it doesn't just feel like he is "paying" her, but rather appreciating her for the things she does, and the sacrifices she has made for the family. Also, lots of positive comments towards her to help gently rebuild her body confidence wouldn't go astray. I.e. my partner always tells me that he doesn't mind my extra padding around my tummy as "it reminds me of how you gave us our daughter and I love you both so much." and "I see you are doing the best you can right now, and I'm just so glad you are trying" when I have to give up on doing things due e eeto pain overwhelm. It's amazing what a kind word, complient, or action (his hugs are my fave) can boost my confidence. It sounds like she needs that, too.
