Yo, Oliver! I just received my Defiant 210 Ghost Carp this afternoon. Can’t wait to get it out on the water and try it out. I actually had to look up the video on how to rig the two jig hooks that were in the package. I’ll 100% post a video on my channel when I catch a toad on the 210. Cheers!

Great breakdown of rigging etc! I just got my first defiant- a 210 in perch in the mail yesterday. I’ve purchased a couple line throughs over the years that I couldn’t run thick 100 plus pound leader through the bait very well and I’m glad the defiant will pass 100 pound mono through no problem. (I run thick leader like that for pike or for multi species bass/pike waters a lot of times). Also glad defiant has northern baitfish type colors also like perch and Cisco that aren’t always easy to find with other companies.

I'm looking forward to getting back to the midwest to throw that new perch and carp color around!

Besides the line thru system, why do you prefer Defiants over Hudds or Magnums? Or are they just not logically comparable because they have different applications?

Greta question, no typically just a single treble on the stock rig or a single beast hook weedless for me.
@kaiboshi4 жыл бұрын
When fishing these baits for largemouth in waters that also have pike or musky do you run a wire leader or do you stick with heavy fluoro? I've been running 130fc like you suggested a while back with some success (targeting musky but catching largemouth instead) but it's kind of a pain to work with compared to the 7 strand wire. I've broken lighter leaders on pike/musky teeth while fishing for largemouth and wonder if there is possibly a universal solution.
@OliverNgy4 жыл бұрын
I stick with the 130lb flouro. As you've seen from your bycatch, the bass will still eat it. But at that point I'm truly focused on the musky or pike

@Tbowie133 жыл бұрын
Yeah, frugal says the guy who's videos got me to buy a Levante an Orochixx and a Destroyer with Tatula 300 reels and 8, I slide 185's, and last night 3 defiant 210's. This is in the last month to month and a half. But buy the smaller super glue, cause we're frugal around here! 😆 Ok Mr. Ngy, I'll take your word on that...lol. In all seriousness, I'm loving my Destroyer Tequila Baccarac, the Laviathans are still backordered. Fishing these bigger baits is so much easier when someone tells ya what to use...I've been having a ball!

First off thank you for sharing your experience and knowledge. You are obviously a skilled fisherman. But what is with you flopping most of your bass on the boat deck? You have to know that its not good for the fish. Is that just not a priority for you?
@OliverNgy4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the kind message. Here's my question, where do you draw the line? Bouncing a difficult to fool and successfully land a fish using whatever method I feel is my best chance? Is it where we drive hooks into their mouths? I don't purposely put fish I intend to release through extra stress. I will do whatever I deem is sufficient to land that fish. Besides, seadek is much better for them than carpet. Have a great season Mr. Jean. Thanks for tuning in.
@bapojean59814 жыл бұрын
@@OliverNgy Hmm. I didnt know about sea deck. I wasnt expecting that you have carpet. I was wrong about that. My goal is to handle that fish in a way that allows it to continue living close to how it was before it was caught. You catch way bigger bass than most, and nobody is flipping a 10lb plus off the deck. It just looks like it has to cause damage to a animal that is used to living in almost zero "G".
@OliverNgy4 жыл бұрын
@@bapojean5981 they're hardier than you give them credit for. Catch and release as a practice would be a lot less successful with largemouth bass than It is if they were as fragile as a striped bass or a trout. I respect your way of handling and treating fish, if you've seen our videos you've seen us push to use a weigh bag to minimize the stress and damage to them. I care about their well being very much. Have a great season.
