It's been awhile since I was able to get over to Oregon's Southcoast to do some rockhounding. I went to my favorite spot and had an amazing time! I found some cool fluorescent minerals AND got to see the borealis!! WOW! Super cool experience ^^ I hope you enjoy the video as much as I did making it. My Favorite Spot to Rockhound in Oregon

My favorite beach(es) are at Oceanside. Through the tunnel or go around the cape and there are several beaches to rockhound, finding Carnelians, blue and black agates, a variety of jaspers, including agate jaspers, gold can be found here too, as well as small pearls, opals, petrified wood and fossils. Oh, as well as the main beach by the parking lot, to the south are more and more rock beds to rockhound. Oceanside has it all.

I live in that area and ride my electric bike over to O.P often it’s a great area … lots of jasper heck some of those sea stacks look to be made of some jasper. Lots of fun spots to explore and rock hound in the county.

Oh my heck, loved all those great stone and the ocean and the sea shore.( Time at 2:40) I think those stones reminds me of regular moon stone and later in the video some blue moon stone. But I don't know for sure. Can't always tell in pictures, but all was lovely to see, especially the sea. Thanks, agian, for sharing. I could feel the moist salt air on my face by just watching.

Beautiful local! Definitely my type of rockhounding spot. Surprisingly similar types of rocks I find. But, then there were some extra cool jasper and some awesome agates you found that were unlike what I find along the lake. There was a small light pink and green tinged one that was really cool that stood out. I can see why you love that spot. Thanks for sharing, bro!

I live in Nye Beach which is the old original Newport Oregon part of Newport. My favorite beach is between Seal Rock Oregon and South Beach, great success finding blue agate. On a winter storm in 1994 I found what appeared to be a black agate about 15 inches in diameter Sometimes agate will have semi circle crecents on the surface. This particular agate had a window a chip on the surface that showed powder blue. I had it cut. my wet saw is too small to handle anything larger than 8 inches. Its a clearish powder blue inside with light bands throughout the cool thing is the interior of ther now cube was a goose egg sized pocket of liquid in the middle. I had it polished to a high luster and gave it to my mom and Dad their rock nuts like me. As a bithday present to my mom I tore her bathroom out and remodeled it with a walk in shower room, the floor I covered in slabbed agate from the mountain of agates I have collected from the beach.
@TheRogueRockhound3 ай бұрын
Wow, that’s such a cool story! That black agate with the powder blue inside must’ve been an awesome find, especially with that liquid pocket in the middle-sounds like a real gem. And giving it to your parents is such a great idea! The agate flooring in your mom’s bathroom? That’s next-level! Combining your rock finds with a remodel is such a unique and thoughtful gift. I bet they loved it! Thanks for watching!!

Breaking News: Man found at bottom of trail with 800 lbs of rock in back pack. He had sunk down to his waist in the sand refusing to give up even a single rock. In an interview he had stated he had been down there for 2 weeks. Firefighters and Coast Guard dispatched two helicopters to the scene leveraging ropes to help pull him and the rocks to the parking lot 300 yards above the steep trail. Fortunately, the man was ok.

Thanks for sharing, just got back from collecting on the Chetco, but really didn't see any jasper. Can't wait to get back to Gold Beach. I have a place in the mountains near where Copco lake used to be, where the ground is absolutely littered with rough jasper and agates If I sat down, it wouldn't take long to fill up a 5gal bucket without moving.
