In my experience, any laptop be it for creators, gamers or general users, if laptop hasn't got excellent heat dissipation, then it will not last more than 3 years and performance will simply dwindle. What I want to see are the reviews the performance after heavy usage of of 6 months to a year. Otherwise all laptops are mere claims. What else you guys need to discuss is the motherboard, its chips and data transfer and bandwidth between its cpu, gpu and RAM. I watch all of your reviews, just as a tech lover, but there is nothing there more than your opinion of your feel and specifications.

i wish apple had wifi 6, upgradeable memory, 4k matte display, 2 upgradeable ssd slots, hdmi, usba, ethernet, sd card, seperate fast charger, this keyboard, and spill resistance, and so many great sales. However apple wins on trackpad, screen size by .4, speakers, clean look, undervolt at the factory, and new thermal system, 8gb video option, but most repairs out of warranty repairs are mother board related meaning at least $1500.

I can’t wait for the new intel chips, you’re right, in devices like this it’ll make a huge difference. I still love my Extreme Model 1. I’m with you the small improvements are nice but I’m not heartbroken I don’t have them. I also use it 95% for coding so I don’t need the 4K display but for anyone who is into content having a matte version of the 4K is probably the biggest deal but on 3.5 hours of battery. Ouch. With my FHD I’m getting around 6 or 7 depending on whether I’ve got the gpu engaged a little or a lot. When it’s a lot the battery drops a lot quicker but I still get about 4.5. It’s the only real gripe I have (other than thermal throttling) with the unit. If I had a more powerful USB C charger it’d be easier to take but 100W usb c chargers you can travel with are hard to find.... I lied I have 1 other gripe. I with it was a Cm less wide. 99% of the laptop bags I’ve looked at use the 15” MacBook as the reference device for sizing and the Extreme is ever do slightly too big. I’m more annoyed with the bag manufactures than Lenovo though. An extra Cm and they open up their bags to all us non-mac heretics.
@Christopher-today5 жыл бұрын
Joonpil Park the XPS has the size advantage but worst thermals, a sub-par keyboard compared to the Extreme’s which is the best on a laptop as well the Extreme has a better screen and is lighter. Plus the Extreme was a few hundreds of dollars cheaper on-sale than the XPS when I bought it so while I’d love the smaller size I think I made the right decision for me.

My own X1E G2 with the 4KIPS Display has a MAX runtime of 4h when using it very thoroughly on minimal Settings. With optimal powersettings and doing a bit of slightly excessive websurfing you can quickly drop to ca 2.5h runtime. I had first a completely failed Keyboard which took 2 attempts to fix (thank god I purchased it with onsite Support), then it still has a mushy typing feeling and even although I am not a fast typer it manages to loose keys occasionally. (see the very excessice Lenovo Forum thread. It seems a Standard Problem!) Another issue is microstuttering and hangs: you have frequent short hangs and on longer Sessions 1-2 longer hangs where it becomes unresponsive. Streaming often leads to desynchonisation of Audio and Video which doesn't even happen on my old trusty x230. It's NOT suited for Audio Work! Miserable Latency. Not the best Laptop Lenovo did. For the price I'm super annoyed. (No, unfortunately I can't return it).

@omran it fits my needs for light video editing ^^ I previously using zenbook ux32vd for that particular purpose.. rendering time is significantly faster and editing process is more fluid.. a lot less loading time when applying effect.. even for previewing video on premiere pro cc 2019.. and I could use the latest effect for 360 video.. it was just too complicated for my zenbook to handle I suppose.. haha.. I love the abundant ports it has (2 USB 3, Thunderbolt, USB C, SD Card).. and it's "future proof"@ (2 ram slots and 2 SSD slot). It throttled when rendering as expected on this form factor.. (it is seriously lighter than XPS 15 and thinner) yet to me it is still a great upgrade.. 4k display is nice yet it needs calibration.. (over contrast) I used Spyder for this purpose, but then, I guess a few months ago Lenovo deployed presets for the display setting.. problem solved.. Hi! I brought this notebook 6 weeks ago (4K IPS Display, Core i7, 32 GB RAM). There is a widespread problem detected with the keyboard, who is missing stokes and letters when you are writing. There are cases of different notebooks affected from many places in the world (Europe, US, Latin America). The problem was reported on the Lenovo support forums, with 21 pages of complaints, but zero answer at this point. There are many other problems (awful battery life for the 4K version -only 2 hours-, the OLED version has a poor image display, and problems with stability on certain scenarios like using a 4K external dock or lag while using a secondary display). Don't buy this Notebook until there is a fix for this problem. Well. You should try, because I have a problem and I have X1 Extreme gen 1. And after connecting this dock, the monitor blinks terribly, several attempts, maybe 15-30 minutes, and then stabilizes. There are times when the screen does not jump, wakes up after 10-30 minutes and flashes for 20-30 minutes. I do not know what's going on. I have already done some updates, firmware and the problem still occurs ... I'm slowly losing hope, I admit I am a bit disappointed with Lenovo support - it is known in the forum that there is some bug, a lot of people have a problem. Anyway, I think they should know about this, stop buying this workstation with thunderbolt3.

@@MatthewMoniz I think you should be interested in this problem, because Lenovo has been silent about it for a long time. The main problem is with the P52/P53/P72/P73/P1/P1 2/X1E/X1E gen2 ... with this dock. I recommend that you read this: forums.lenovo.com/t5/Displays-Options-and-Accessories/Screens-flickering-with-Thunderbolt-3-Dock/td-p/4340774/page/7
