I bought this phone just prior to the pandemic and it was my main phone all the way to 2021. Even tho the phone was over 3 years old it still held up very well. It really blew my away with UI and smoothness. It worked flawlessly. Def one of my favorite phones that i owned and used.

@@xninja2369 not all phones have unlockable bootloader and not everyone has the expertise or time to constantly troubleshoot issues like device integrity breaking because of a bad fingerprint. You simply buy the phone, press quick share on the photos and it will do the rest automatically.

Pixel OG is the first and last Google phone I bought. I had a terrible experience with it due to the motherboard faulty issue where it was overheating constantly even with minimal usage. It led to another issue where it would stuck on boot loading and I had to put it in a fridge/freezer for few minutes for it to start normally. That motherboard issue also causes the sound disabled. I only used it for almost a year and had to buy new phone. Don't get me wrong, apart from that the software experience is terrific. I love the camera quality it was ahead of its time and the stock android was clean to use. I always contemplate on buying another Google phone every time they release new ones but somehow scared to make the move because the experience left bitter taste in my mouth. I have been using Oneplus 6T ever since and love this phone to death Its been 5 years now with no issue but looking to buy Oneplus 12 for my next phone because I see rave reviews everywhere. I was also considering Pixel 8a but after looking into the reviews I would not want one.

I believe the 821 might be a bit rough nowadays, but man the 845 of the s9 and poco f1 aged well, I know 5 people still hapilly running galaxy 1 galaxy s9, 1 poço f1 and 3 galaxy note 9s. Man the Samsung aged well in every aspect, surprisingly even battery life is usable on the notes.

I think the 821 would load things slowly, but still definitely useable tbh. It depends on what standards you have really. I had the OG Pixel until 2021 and it was very reliable and never crashed or anything, even if it was a little slow towards the end sometimes.

Sorry for going a little off topic, but I have this Pixel 3a with the sensor on the back, and it works fine, I only wish, sometimes, that it had face ID. It's not a big thing, but sometimes the little things make for little wishes. : )

I like the side sensor most on my xz1c. with my og pixel if it was sitting on a table I either had to pick it up for fingerprint or type in my passcode. with my xperia I always have access to the fingerprint sensor.

pixel haptics might be the best overall, I bought my first pixel in 2021 (a used 4 XL) and currently have a 7. Hadn't experienced haptics this good like ever, I think they could be even better than iPhone haptics.

I think what made phones so special back in this time was that they lack so much and gave some as well. It kept the competition very steep. You had so many different options of phones. Nowadays you can literally throw a rock in any direction and hit a great phone every time. #teampixel

Genuine question..why do old phones get slow doing even the most basic stuff that they were doing when they came out..for example just using the ui, opening the play store, watching KZbin etc.

Apps get updated over time, adding new stuff that inadvertently slows them down. If you do a factory reset and only use the versions that came with the phone it'll likely feel just as fast as day one. Battery degradation might contribute too. As a battery gets older, it might not be able to push the same amount of power as it once could. Going back to the app thing, you likely have dozens more apps on your phone that are running in the background than when you first got the phone. Tl;dr your phone does a lot more after so many years than it did when you first got it and might not be in the best condition

processor is not the cause for it. I had an old xiaomi phone which after purchasing, i didnt use much and is still in my cupboard. The stock rom was very snappy and smooth. The miui 11 was super janky and slow despite updating from android 8 to 9. the muiu 11 was tough to deal with. KZbin in other hand runs fine in my old moto g6 until the battery is charged. it is also a respectable 5 year old phone and is amazing.

imo stock androids tend to lag less than these stupid skinned os. Heck even the s7 edge lags to this day and using a custom rom eliminates every single negative aspect of that thing.

I did consider getting one used. I got a blue Pixel 2 instead. Loved that phone, used it for quite a while until I got a OnePlus 7t. I now have an Xperia 5 mk.IV (great names Sony...) and while I love the hardware, I do miss the software of the Pixel, as well as that era of OnePlus software.

@@marcxie there no other option than Original quality on og pixel... I used to backup and offload photos and videos to my PC..but google drive makes it so convenient... If you're having issues you can try factory resetting...it keeps getting full all thee time without anyting on phone cause it's 32gb only....and the system takes 20gb+ so have only ~10gb for offloading photos...if youre using this as a main with 32gb it's must've been painful ngl...cause even damn playstore takes almost 1gb lol

I had this, upgraded from the LG G4 which, surprise, died from bootlooping. The G4 was great, especially the camera. I didn't anticipate the Pixel camera being so good but I was really impressed. I thoroughly enjoyed my time with it, until, like the G4, it died from bootlooping.

Unlimited photos on pixel 3-5 is only in data saver quality. For full quality you need a Pixel 1-2. Android still has codenames, they are just not used for the public name (they can be confusing) Quince Tart. Red Velvet. Tiramisu. Upside Down Cake. Vanilla.

Ahhh good old status and nav bar burn in. They’re exactly why I set them to immersive mode for as long as android supported it. Now the UI of most androids at least gets rid of the pronounced bars. Slight notification bar icon burn in is so much easier to ignore

The original Pixel was funny because I remember they finally just said "screw it, we're 1-for-1 making an Android version of the iPhone" - the dimensions of the 2 sizes were almost identical to that of the iPhone 7 line that year, the bezels were the same, the pricing was dollar-for-dollar the same. Then the next year Apple launched the iPhone X and Google wasn't really in a position to directly compete with that. We got the Pixel 2XL with its widespread screen issues, and the smaller Pixel 2 which I still think is one of the ugliest phones ever made, even for the time.

people forget that this got unlimited 4k30 video back up in original quality as well.... Not just photos. The pixel 3 brought back unlimited photos and videos..... But with the pixel 4 they permanently killed the og terms and downgraded every new video to 1080p30fps. I've lost trust in ALL of Google ever since 2018.

Replace your battery.? Also rear fingerprint, or on the power button, is way better because you know where it is with tactile feedback. Gestures are better on small screen because there is less space.

Got the original by chance after my V10 broke and they didn't have any other phones in stock. Have owned a version every year except the Pixel 7 where I decided to give iPhone a try. The original was most definitely my favorite stock android + a surprisingly good camera!

I love the color of the XL and for years have wanted to buy a Pixel but 9 iterations in Google is just fucking incapable of offering the Pixel Line to the whole of North America and leaving Mexico completely to the wayside. The blue XL, the Panda Pixel 2, Pixel 6,7, 8 and 9...and even if I can import them, I will stay with Samsung because they do offer locally.

I still have a Pixel XL running LOS 17.1 (A10) in black that I got 2nd hand. It's not bad as a 2nd phone with a decent camera. Stock rom is a bit heavier than custom rom. Or at least that's from my experience with it. Thanks for the video.
