Hi 👋 DAVE , The day there is a beginning and an ending to everything..Your video was not viewed for four days and when I began watching, I said “” WHOA”” he’s making me famous.LOL . I was blown away by your expertise and how little I know about trail cameras and how much there is to learn..To get real picky you could see where one setting could result in a separate toutorial with pics lasting 10 min each ..Imagine?? By the comments they were pleased.,Appreciated new ways to see better results, and you know what else DAVE , it is the foundation on my approach to photography..It begins with what’s under your feet to infinity.. The ability for the few of us that have the ability to see vs those who have to go to school to learn . You are the former and welcome to my world pal . It’s beautiful.. Never a moment passes that a picture is about to present itself..Thank you. This is one special presentation and I was really taken back with the Doe showing so much affection to her young . For that I just may let the first Doe pass me by this fall !!!

Thank you Dave. This is my first camera and I am an older woman that has bears, skunks deer, raccoons, bobcats, opossum and, who knows what else , running around my yard. I only have 1 1/2 acre, but seem to be overrun with wildlife. Your voice of experience is a huge help on the set up and saved me a lot of time learning new tricks. I will let you know how I make out with my Hawkray Mini Hunting Camera.

Thank you so much for this video. I am an older woman living in the forest on the Oregon coast. My husband bought me a GardePro A3 a few years ago, we set it up and got great pictures and then put it away for the rainy season. Three years later we have a pesky bear I wanted to get some pics of, but was very intimated trying to figure out how to set the camera up again, your video has taken that intimidation away, the camera is now ready to get photos, hopefully, of our local bear population. Thank you again!!!

Thanks much, Dave. I do very similar. A couple things I do so I'll share, if it's okay. I'd appreciate your ideas as well as viewer ideas. 1.) How long I leave my trail-cams out? I designate two 32GB SD card(s) for each camera. I check them about 7 to 10 days depending on time of season. If I'm checking varmint patterns, I'll check daily. 2.) What I do with my recorded trail-cam clips after making a video? I received a 4 Terabyte memory disc from Santa on Christmas 😊 so now I started doing this. After I make a video, I create a file folder on the 4 Terabyte memory disc, name/date the file folder, then place the new video w/ ALL related trail-cam clips in that file folder. So now I can retrieve "a video" from the 4 Terabyte memory disc and all the related trail-cam clips I used to make that particular video are there in same folder. After this, I erase the little 32GB SD card and now it's ready to be rotated to its designated Trail-camera. It took me a while to figure out some kind of system to rotate SD cards, etc.....so I wanted to share. Thanks for your videos. Keep them coming.

Hi Dave, got my first trail cam, and didn't know some of the terminology specific to infrared cameras. I was very happy to find your video and took notes so I can set up my camera. I mainly got it for pest control reasons, the small 4-legged critters that only come out at night. I think I'll be turning down the IR Intensity as I'm shooting close to the ground. And the point at the end where you discuss formatting the card was another question made clear to me. I did put the card into the computer and it seemed formatted with an image folder, but I'll go ahead and format it before using the camera. The small manual mentioned it in passing, so I wasn't sure how important it is. And I'll do it again after bringing video into the computer. Thank you so much for sharing your experiences and wisdom. Have a great day.

Your choices for your camera settings are very similar to mine. I designate two SD cards per camera even when the cameras are identical models, I mark the cards and I still reformat them every time I switch them out, over kill maybe, but it works for me so far. I do not bait my cameras either, we have a lot of wildlife and the more I use the trail cameras on our property the more I learn where to put them. Thanks for the video.

Thanks Dave I suck at this stuff! Yes I’m a hipster duffass! I’ve taken my cameras down because some of the 170+ deer I’m after have spotted the RED GLOW at night and they don’t get old by being stupid! I’d like only daylight pictures or videos and a fellow from Exodus said there’s a way to set your cameras to daylight only…. Do you know how to do that? IMO nighttime pictures are useless except to let you know your either doing something wrong or don’t have a very good hunting parcel and need to work on that. Weren’t there big bucks taken before trail cameras?
@HuntingFarmerOfficial2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. I’m not familiar with Exodus camera settings. Many cameras do allow you to program the settings to have the camera active during certain hours (daytime etc). On mine it’s called work time or scheduled. Not sure what Exodus calls it (if they offer that option)

Great video! I have used these for years. But one big problem I have in Wyoming is the wind. What would you set you camera on to allow the camera to come on with an animal and not activate with winds. Even in trees we have high enough wind at times to trigger the camera. I get a card full of tree waving at you. Or the sage brush waving at you. I have just decided that there is no way to get away from this.

Wind (and sun) can be a real problem. As you said it’s nearly impossible to totally eliminate false triggers. Small adjustments in the mounting angle can help at times

Thanks for this video, so helpful, I’m setting up for the first time so your settings have given me a good bench mark. I have a Target Recording Time setting which you didn’t mention and Apart from mentioning 32 GT storage you didn’t say anything more about memory cards, apart from that brilliant, I’m looking forward to some great shots.....🤞

Thanks for watching and for the encouragement. I’m a little worried that the target recording setting should be off. When you want the camera to see movement and record (or take a picture) 24 hrs a day, the target recording should be “off” 👍

So should it be on when I want to record video?
@HuntingFarmerOfficial4 жыл бұрын
No. I always have that setting off. Target recording is when you want your camera to operate during certain hours of the day or night. Most people (including me) want my camera to operate 24/7 👍

Wish you had told me how to set date and time . Although is seems elementary when l set mine it doesn't retain it. So l must be doing something wrong. Also is it possible to make red light not visible by covering it or is that a required function ?

Phew...I can't imagine buying batteries for all those trail cams! I have 5 trail cameras; I spend way too much for batteries these days! I use the cameras more for security (trespassers) than for wildlife. I tried rechargeable batteries, but the cameras did not like them. I have a couple GardePro' A3s 20 MP, a Tasco, and two Camparks (14 and 16 MP). Any suggestions how to lengthen battery life? The Tasco has the best battery life but the photos are not as good as the other brands. I turn off the video option trying to get more battery life.

I highly suggest Energizer Ultimate Lithium batteries. There are worth the extra money. Here’s a test I did kzbin.info/www/bejne/kGXQZaeHnrB-qqs I also use solar whenever possible (mounting location has sunlight). I prefer WingHome’s universal solar panel (has built in battery) kzbin.info/www/bejne/moq9eYSgp9CbkKc

Great video.👍 I have a question about my Apeman trail cam that maybe you can answer. I usually set it to take 15 sec videos but recently it only does a 5 second video most of the time, occasionally 10 secs and sometimes a full 15 seconds. Is there a reason for this? 🤔Thanks

Thanks for watching. Usually what you described is a battery issue. I recommend Energizer Ultimate Lithium batteries.
Thanks for watching! I appreciate the encouragement 👍

I have a Dargahou 4k 48 MP Trail Camera that has a lot of settings. I'm new to trail cameras. There are a couple of delay settings. I can't figure out what is the best option or if they could conflict with each other. Is there a good tutorial on this camera and settings?

The 20 sec delay means recording won't start until 20 seconds after motion detection?

Great tips, thanks a lot. I've left my first trail camera on the field with many sets presented here. Curious to check the results 😅
