At this point in my bass development, I am using Transcribe! to slow down exercises, etc. that I am getting out of books that also provide mp3s or other audio files to play along with. It seems like I accidentally created some measure markers and was able to use that for looping, but I'm not sure. Right now, I want to have loops set up in Transcribe! that aren't so easily wiped away with an errant keystroke or mouse click. I just got it yesterday so I'm sure I'm missing something.
@LearnBassWithAri Жыл бұрын
Hi Kelly, I recommend you name the markers "loop in" and "loop out" - name them by double clicking. You can move them to precisely where you want them. Then save the transcribe file. Make sure the original soundfile is saved as well as transcribe needs it to refer to. Then you can easily find your looping ins and outs again by using those markers. And kudos, the work you are putting in will be paying off!

Hm, that can't be done and wouldn't be what you want. When you use transcribe you pull a soundfile like an an mp3 into it. Then you can use markers, change keys and speed etc. You then save that out of Transcribe! as an XSC file. This file always needs the mp3 of the original sound file you used to be able to read the Transcribe data you just saved. The XSC without the original mp3 will produce an error.

Great video. I bought transcribe and really love it. Use it for transcribing guitar and harmonica work rock and blues mainly but lots of other stuff too. It would be great if it had a function to eliminate an instrument say if you can't hear the instrument you want to transcribe very well. For instance i am working on a tune by blues harmonica great Little Walter and in some areas the harp is kind of overpowered with the guitar and it's hard to hear certain bits. What would you do in a case like that? Someone else told me your ears just get sharper over time and you can hear things better but i don't know. Sometimes you feel you're making an educated guess in a situation like that if you can't hear a part well.

@LearnBassWithAri3 жыл бұрын
You can boost them, yes; not 100 percent separate but, close. It helps when transcribing when you hear each individual instrument better. What you CAN do quite effectively is remove the vocals so you can sing to it.
@jeandelacruz36363 жыл бұрын
@@LearnBassWithAri Thank you for your feedback. May I know what you meant by boosting? I meant to ask if it would be possible to have separate tracks for guitar, vocals, bass, drums just like a stem file would have.

@LearnBassWithAri3 жыл бұрын
@@jeandelacruz3636 yes 1000$ is what I meant. And it really depends on the mix of the source material how well it works. What you are asking of the software is like taking apart a baked cake and producing two whole eggs, a cup of flour, and a neat stick of butter. That 1000$ software won't do that either, it can sometimes skim off the fat so to speak and separate some cake layers, but it won't be as neat as you are expecting calling them stems. It would take patience, trial and error and a mix that lends itself well.

@@adrianholovaty Oh wtf that's like the perfect software for me. Thank you for the suggestion!
@channelkerr4 жыл бұрын
Awesome! I learned some stuff! I actually use the software in a different way - I "write out" notes individually by using the Text function, notating the waveform. This is how I can transcribe note for note. This is sometimes needed as no software is able to transcribe perfectly. I also use AnthemScore, it can take an audio file and convert it to MIDI (sheet music), it's by far the most accurate I've seen! It knows how to filter out harmonics and drums. Worth noting, there's a free alternative to Transcribe! called Sonic Visualiser. I found it a bit complex (i think it's aimed at audio nerds) but it could be useful.
@LearnBassWithAri4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your comment and for watching. Audacity is another free alternative. Also not as intuitive and does not sound as good, but usable. Thanks for the tip on AnthemScore,, I will test drive that. We use Melodyne for similar purposes and that's gotta be the best way to do the wav/mp3 to midi conversion. I am really all for training our ears, though, because there is no technology better than what's attached to our ears.
@LearnBassWithAri4 жыл бұрын
I took a look at the program you mentioned (the download looked a little sketchy.) While doing a nice job, it is not as accurate as Logic or Melodyne. (We tested side by side.) Admittedly for what they are trying to do these programs are getting more impressive by the day. They really have a very different purpose than Transcribe!, however - there is no way around using/training the ears for a musician. While machine learning is constantly improving and these tools can save some time for experienced musicians/software users, none of these programs will render good ears and knowledge of notation, etc unnecessary. I don't think good ears can be replaced ever. Transcribe! is the best ally I have found in the transcribing pursuit and for converting mp3s to xml or midi we still much prefer Logic.
@DogeDELUX2 жыл бұрын
The only audio to MIDI software I've heard of that actually works nicely is AnthemScore. Never heard of Transcribe or any of the mentioned software before, but I'm glad I'm finding more alternatives.
