Last Epoch is an amazing game to play guideless! easy respec and very intuitive makes it great for this

I started doing this with all my ARPGs now after creating initial chars or two using a guide. Its pretty freeing actually. lol

Doing the same. Typically follow builds in ARPGs, but with LE I only look at guides once I get to empowered monos. Did it last cycle with torment warlock. Doing it this cycle with sorcerer. Made it to lvl 20 last night, having a blast so far. 😊

All my builds so far have been 'what sounds cool? let's improvise'. My 1.1 cycle starter will be Lightning Tempest Strike Shaman, causing every third strike to be a lightning tempest, and storm totem to also cast lightning tempest whenever you trigger it.

That's exactly my way to play LE, and I love it

Yes, in ARPGs I always play by feel and "wing it". Doesn't get me far past the campaign in PoE, but in Last Epoch it's very fun and I very much appreciate when it's viable. That's how a game should be made, the intuitive options should be viable. I'm going to start with a skelly necromancer, but I've got a lot of other ideas on the table.

This is exactly how I play! But I am a Casual + lol. This cycle I am doing a Forge Guard Hammerdin. Because the FG tree has so many throwing damage nodes.

I'm glad that I didn't use any build or guide for my first playthrough in Last Epoch. I did watch some guides about game systems, but not builds. In the end, I had a lot of fun developing my character by myself and making him good. I wouldn't have any of these feelings if I used someone's guide. Same for PoE. I enjoy the process of figuring out how to make my character good more than just seeing how it kills everything because someone told me how to do it.

Will start tomorrow with the same attitude. Something something Warlock, will see what I like and how the build vibes into fruition. LE imo is the best ARPG for exactly that. Going with the flow.

I remember the days of D1, D2 and even the first few months of Diablo 3. This was also like Bloodborne, before all these games blew up into mainstream pop culture. The only reason I would never trade today’s gaming for those times is bug fixing and patching. There was some of that in the late 90s and early 2000s but it’s not even close to today’s culture of patches and balancing the meta. All that mattered was finding the most broken builds, exploiting the most powerful ones, and riding with that for hundreds of hours. Even today, I want the most fun builds to eventually steamroll the pinnacle boss, but it will probably be the most broken builds. Also the idea that a new IP like Last Epoch could get such a large audience I don’t see happening two decades ago.

I didn't even know there was a game setting where your character locks with your camera. This just made me like this game so much more I hated the character not fixed/static with the camera. The camera would always be following my character in a way. Now with the setting, I turned it off and now it plays normal like any other ARPG (poe, D4) Hopefully this can be helpful for others because I watch streamers playing the game and I see the setting still on and I highly doubt they like it that way and don't know about the setting.

I am playing Last Epoch mostly this way, although I played a fire warpath paladin on release and am playing a warpath void knight to start this cycle. So I am kind of basic. That said, I think some of the "oh but you can't do this in PoE" is overblown. You can totally make random builds that can take on Atziri or Abyss Bosses, etc. Part of what give the perception of this being hard in PoE is people only consider it valid if you beat the highest content, while PoE has prized itself on building a mountain of content over the last decade. If you look at an apples to apples comparison from PoE to the analogous boss in another game like Last Epoch or D4, you totally can have the same level of flexibility in beating those bosses, there are just more challenges beyond that which the other games do not even have. I started with Affliction and while I have used guides for league start to build currency, I then have made several characters almost entirely on vibes. I did not take down ubers with those characters, but they still felt like success.

Last Epoch tootips are clear enough you can do it on the go. I prefer planing a little bit my own build before the cycle starts though so I don't waste too much time with the filter, etc. afterwards. Then again I say that and I'm sure the build will need some heavy love tweaking by the time I reach empowered monos.

Last Epoch is a gem! I recommend everyone play blind, there are many viable options. I was going to try Runemaster as well!

Was just thinking of this approach. I wanna play something melee so I'll pick a class and just wing it. Has worked reeeally good in the past for me - especially if you have some PoE experience.

I'm going in blind aswell. Even tho i'm never reaching the true endgame, i'm still having fun with the journey there. :)
@Ricehigh855 ай бұрын
I feel like a problem with this approach might be that modern games are balanced based on most people ripping polished builds online, meaning that it might be quite hard unless you manage to find something quite strong. I know I tried to just build a character in 1.0 and failed miserably, ended up ripping a build for another character after and everything was just much easier and smoother (To be fair I didn't study all the skills and masteries before to try and make sure I would end up with something that synergized well, picked whatever seemed cool and strong, but it just wasn't strong at all)

Every ARPG is much more enjoyable this way. Copy-Pasting S Tier builds are boring. I have had many hours of joy with builds those sites claim to be C-D-Sh**t tier. OK, PoE needed some copy-pasting in the beginning as a tutorial :)

What are your thoughts on Torchlight Infinite? I tried it the other day to see what the free competition to POE is doing, and didnt find it good at all. The UI is awful, there's too much mobile-esque hand holding tutorial, and the UX is really confusing for the first few hours. But the character models were nice and pickup button for items is really nice, though not enough to keep me playing.

Disintegrate, part of mage base kit so any mage spec. Significantly buffed, there used to be only 1 way to play it before and now there are at least 4 obvious ways and likely non-obvious ones too.
