I personally feel sick whenever I read, so audiobooks are my best friends! I'm excited to try some books written by disabled/neurodivergent people, considering my own health changes recently.

As a fellow neurodivergent friend could I recommend “a kind of spark” by Elle mcnicoll . It’s a middle grade but I think the morals in the story are very important even as an older reader , happy world book day !

Omg.... I'm not sure if were talking about the same thing but there's a show called a kind of spark it's about a autistic girl who gets a hyperfixation on witches who were actually just woman killed for being different and she makes a change to her town... I love that show so much 😊

As a neurodiverse person, I would recommend the graphic novel Frankie's World by Aoife Dooley because the art style is cute and the story is easy to understand 😁😄 I would also recommend the book called How We Roll by Natasha Friend since it has a decent plot with an inspiring person being treated for cancer, as well as an autistic character which I think is represented well 🥰🥰

Wow! A brilliant collection of books! I hope that when you publish your own book as a print edition, you’ll consider selling some signed copies, maybe on your website? I’d be prepared to buy a signed copy, it’s a nice old skool touch in the digital age. I’d be prepared to pay a premium for a signed copy. Or you could offer the first 50 copies online will be signed & then additional signed copies at a slightly elevated cost? Oh gosh, this is starting to sound too complicated!!! Just a thought 🤔 PS - You could choose to donate some or all of the price difference of the signed copy as a donation to a charitable org.

Love the recs, got a few to add to me TBR! For anyone looking for great ND, disability, and LGBTQIA+ rep I cannot recommend everything by Chloe Liese enough (they are 🌶️ adult books). Especially her Bergman Brothers series. It’s 👩🍳💋

I'm always interested in reading more fiction with characters with chronic illness and/or neurodivergence. Some favorites off the top of my head are: OCDaniel (and the prequel Sara and the Search for Normal), Fish in a Tree, and A Mango-Shaped Space. I don't read a ton of books aimed at middle grades but those three all are. There's way more books like these that I also loved but I can't think of more titles right now, although there is an incredible anthology of disabled main characters in apocalypse settings. Anybody who wants me to though I can look at my Goodreads. Fellow FND (and more) warrior here

Although I respect the several that like to read (books), I'm simply not a reader. I've read too much fiction and simply very much prefer non-fiction. However, said non-fiction needs to actually be non-fiction. If I don't believe something, anything, in a non-fiction book, then I'm not going to like it. If I know - or find out, something in a non-fiction book isn't true, then I'm not going to like it. Way too much of what I've read, before even becoming an adult, has resulted in me no longer reading (books).

You don’t know how that ‘love letters for joy book’ recommendation made me smile I quickly read abit of a preview on google and just the overall premise or idea is something I can really relate to Saying this I haven’t read te book but: - I have cerebral palsy , though it’s mild so seeing what I assume to be Joy the main character on the page walking with a physical symptom ( ie the arm up against chest) really makes me feel seen But in the preview it was described that she would clench her fist or bring it code to her chest occasionally which again is so validating - She (joy) seems to be academically inclined I also follow a similar pattern because the mindset for me was ‘if I’m never going to be good at sports I’m going to be good at something - I’ll be good at academics’ Idk a small 10 second introduction to a book made me feel a little less alone Especially when I feel too disabled to be an abled person but too abled to be disabled I don’t really comment on your videos but I love your channel and I love learning about different disabilities and the experiences that come with them 💜

Lol I have Autism and ADHD and I don't think I've ever once read a book about either because I don't have time and I have no interest since I manage and don't have serious struggles. I would think on world book day we'd talk about classics like the Iliad or something. No hate to the creator but some of these books are not gonna help your mental health.
