Ahhh good list, i have a few faves too (there are so many good cafes in east london): Kahaila on Bricklane - serves the BEST chai latte, always very light and bright but quiet and secluded, very good free wifi, amazing toasted sandwiches and peanut butter cookies. Vida Bakery (also bricklane) - Best vegan cakes (also gluten free) in the world, also amazing coffee and a generally very aesthetic place to be. Beehive - (bethanl green practically opposite the gallery cafe actually) Another great space to work, lotsa light and it has very friendly staff!

One word for this video: YES!! I adore cafes and coffee shops, I’m at uni in York and they are my go-to places to work/hang out/take a break from all the stress so if I ever find myself in London I’ll definitely check out some of these. Such a good video! (Ps if you’re ever in York I recommend Brew and Brownie as well as Rae and Webb)

I'm loving moonuary Lucy, so much fun and interesting content!! Just one thing about fika, it's usually a coffee break and not tea (although you can drink tea too if you want of course) but the swedish hot drink of choice is coffee! all the cafés looked so dreamy :~) lovely video!!

This is my first comment ever but I couldn't feel more in tune with this video. Sipping my coffee that I made with lots of love, being this early for a video. Day-dreaming for the day I ever get to visit London (which has been my dream since I was 11.) making mental notes to all the spots from your guides. I really enjoy your content Lucy, keep working hard at it! With love from Tijuana x

@evavanb206 жыл бұрын
I don't know where you got your definition of Fika from, but it means so much more than afternoon tea (and actually almost always takes place in the morning!!) it is not just only having coffee, it is more of an opportunity for people to meet and hang out with friends, or get to know your colleagues etc. Etc. For most people it is one of the most important things of the day and they barely ever have a fika just by themselves! At least that's what it is in Sweden, maybe British people interpret Fika just as an afternoon tea :))

Hey Lucy, your video is lovely as always. I was wondering if you’d be intetested in making a video about London. I know you have another video about your favourite places but maybe this one could be... tourist oriented, I guess? This march, a group of friends of mine and I are coming to London and it would be just amazing if you did something like this.

The first time I watched one of your videos the first thing I thought was that you looked so much like Jane leeves who played Daphne in Frasier! Super coincidental too as her characters last name was moon. She was really beautiful, as are you!

Have you tried Husk Coffee and Creative Space in Limehouse? Plenty of workspace, community activities and classes, and a gallery! Dhal made by a local Bengali lady for lunch!! Oh, and a rooftop for summer. Also the Beehive in Bethnal Green (newly opened) and Climpson and Sons in Broadway Market. As fellow non-gluten person, would be interested to know whether the places in this video had options for you there? All looked very gluten-heavy (ie too delicious for me to want to be around it!)

I really love working in Cafés but I never know how long it is socially acceptable to sit there. Can I stay for three hours until I have summarised all my lectures or only for an hour? (usually I stay as long as I have something to drink and it isn’t too busy but I’d love to know what’s the right thing to do)
@lisalbers2306 жыл бұрын
I don't work in cafes but I study in them. I sit for about an hour and a half per drink I buy, and longer if I buy a pastry or any food.

I RELATE
@LeComplice6 жыл бұрын
I'd say it just depends on the place. in super small cafes i tend to not stay for over 2 hours. In bigger cafes, i might stay a good 4-5 hours especially if I know the people and if i go there often and know it doesn't bother them. I also sometime get a coffee when i arrive, and a pastry or something else towards the end of my stay instead of all at once at the beginning.
@lauraraexoxo56286 жыл бұрын
As a barista I can tell you that you can stay as long as you want to, BUT you should maybe order more than one drink if you stay for some hours. We love to have some people around who just calmly fill the space, but don't take paying customers the place. I hope this doesn't sound too rude, but we have sometimes a person who sits at a 4 person table for several hours, their drink has been empty for most of the time and we have to send groups away because we don't have space for them.
@ninamarie1776 жыл бұрын
laura rae xoxo thank you for your reply, it’s nice to know that baristas don’t mind people who stay for a long time. I usually sit at a table for two people or at a bar to minimise the space I take up. I will now make sure to always have a drink with me :)

Inhabition Coffee Shop in Camden town. No WiFi, looks a bit old and not very welcoming from the outside. But the coffee and tea and milkshakes are the best, you can have English breakfast or sandwiches and the owner is the nicest and kindest man in the world! I love it.

Highly recommend Maison d'etre in Islington. It's a little out of the way from East London, but the vibe is really nice. You also see a bunch of famous people walk in and out all the time. It's a regular hotspot for people like Kit Harrington and Ruper Graves (Lestrade in BBC Sherlock). If you're ever up that way, it's certainly a good place to stop.

I've grown to hate this type of café. They have really mushroomed in recent years. They just seem to be full of left wing, attention seeking, hipster types. You can't move for the number of laptops all over the place.
