I couldn't agree more! I have been searching high and low for a favorite book list for a week now and you are probably the only video I will have any luck with until who knows when LOL. I was actually interested in the books you were mentioning and I am very into books so I'm not picky! Thank you please do more videos like this! Preferably Thriller, mystery, horror, psychological books stuff like that

House of leaves is my all time favorite horror book and one of my favorite books in general. I read it every October, and it never gets old.

I picked up House of Leaves at the book store, saw the formatting, and put it back on the shelf. You explained it so clearly here, more clearly than any other videos I've seen (I've watched a lot of videos on it because it IS intriguing). Maybe I'll give it a go if this many people find it so creepy!

It's my all time favorite book. But the made for TV movie is much better than the remake. They just so much out and changed so much.

Great recommendations. IT also blew my mind. I had house of leaves checked out from the library but sadly had to return it before I could read it. I’ll try to find me a used copy. I have You on audible and it’s creepy!

Annihilation by Jeff Vandermeer is a really creepy book. It is being made into a movie too. Also his book BORNE is bat shit crazy- if you like Bizarre and weird books it's one of the best ones I've read. Liked your list, thanks. All hail House of Leaves

Both are so goood! I could never leave our Shirley Jackson. She’s one of, if not, the best. 😍 I’m thinking about re-reading House of Leaves, it’s been a few years and I’m itching to experience the terror all over again.

Sharp Objects is my favorite of hers too. It’s rare to find people who like that one! Yay! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
@JordalineReads6 жыл бұрын
Really?! It’s by far the darkest and creepiest! Dark Places was a bit boring for me and Gome Girl while great didn’t really get me the way Sharp Objects did!

Thewrite Book-Finally read House Of Leaves, my friend got my a copy for my birthday & wow what a book, it felt like you were reading someone's descent into madness & the thought of that house really creeped me out.

After hearing so many people bring it up I really want to try house of leaves. So far the books that have been the most effective at scaring me have been IT, The Ritual, The Mist In The Mirror & The Woman In Black by Susan Hill, and the books The Matrix & The Vanishing by Jonathan Aycliffe. But the book that scared me the most was another one by Jonathan Aycliffe called Naomi's Room, I read that book as a kid and no other horror novel has ever affected me like Naomi's Room did, i found it so disturbing & frightening that to this day even just thinking about it makes me uncomfortable.
@JordalineReads6 жыл бұрын
Kirsty Fairley House of Leaves is essential! Although I find it’s a hit or a miss. But I hope you like it! And thank you for all the recommendations! I’m totally gunna look out for Naomi’s room now. :)

"Heart Shaped Box" had a familiar linkage to the thematic mood presented in his father's "Thinner". I lived and breathed the protagonist. Just brilliant and the ending would have been epic with one simple paragraph near then end.
@emcdonald4966 жыл бұрын
If you like audiobooks, Heart Shaped Box is one of the best performances of a horror novel I have experienced, and I have listened to hundreds. The narrator is amazing and just adds another dimension of creep and dread to the story

I’ve only read the horrors I’m about to list but this is how I’d rank them: IT - Stephen King The rats - James Herbert Pet Sematary - Stephen king Domain (The Rats 3) - James Herbert Carrie - Stephen King Lair (The Rats 2) - James Herbert Red Dragon (first Hannibal Lecter book) - Thomas Harris
@JordalineReads6 жыл бұрын
I've only read IT from your list. But I want to read Pet Semetary in 2019! I've heard it's his scariest novel. :)
@jays2535 жыл бұрын
Thewrite Book since this I’ve read Salem’s lot, the shining, rage and the long walk all by Stephen king. The shining is outstanding. Pet Sematary beats the rest though. I think IT is scarier, but Pet Sematary is really freaky and unsettling.

Hi, it's been a while since you've uploaded the video but I can tell you a bit more about the Hex book. In case you already know these things, feel free to ignore this message :p. The book is originally written in Dutch and in this version the places are real places in the Netherlands. The original ending is like you've entered a Jeroen Bosch painting. Complete chaos. It's completely twisted and weird. I don't know why it was altered, but I actually wrote the author after my first read to ask him "what the actual fuck?" Haha. It was creepy and sick for sure. I'm not sure if there is a translation but I'm willing to translate the ending for you if you'd like.

"It" was one of the best horror/coming of age novels I had ever read...until that WTF ending. It was creepy for all the wrong reasons. It smacks of deviant thoughts of an author and not the "villain" in the book. I have one question for Mr. King.... Why?

It depends on you really. When I was a teenager, I really enjoyed Anna Dress in Blood. The romance is kinda cringey, but it's pretty spooky. If you want something a bit more mature, I'd give Hex or My Best Friends Excorism a try. :) Let me know how it goes! :)
