The last of us is a game filled with so many memorable scenes and moments. And everyone has their favourites. In this video I won’t list the top 10 best scenes in the last of us or anything like that - ill just discuss my two favourite moments from the masterpiece that is the last of us.
Hey everyone! As a break from all the outbreak day stuff - this video is going to be about my absolute favourite moment(s) in the last of us! Now there are so many good scenes and moments in the last of us, so it’s pretty hard to choose a top one. But I’m pretty happy with my choice of best moment in the last of us. I wonder if you’ll agree with me? Well watch the video to find out my favourite scene in the last of us and let’s discuss it in the comments!
Enjoy!

I don’t mind you using my idea at all, I wish more people would post their favorite scenes as there are certainly very many to choose from. 😉👍🏻 Btw, the Ranch House was a close second for me...

The ranch scene is very powerful. It’s a turning point in the story when Joel’s fear of getting too attached tips over. I really like it too, but it’s not my favourite. And thanks for commenting t-strats :) I really enjoy your content!

I give you a ton of credit for making these videos. They’re incredibly well made and you deserve so many more follower for the great content you’re making. You don’t shove information in our faces or claim “this is what is going to happen” you simply speculate and give info based on fact, and I love it.

I really really do appreciate comments like this, because that’s exactly what I’m going for. I want this channel to be a means of me discussing things with the viewers and not like you said, be in peoples faces about things we don’t really know etc. so thank you, Simon! :)

TheiPadCat of course! The last of us holds a special place in my heart, and when I see channels giving ingenuine content just to grab views, like click baiting “ellie will die confirmed” it’s just obnoxious. You got a great channel, and hopefully when part 2 comes out you’ll get way more views.

“Get on with it!“ You're going to make this one a meme 😁👍 Those scenes you're describing are definitely ones of THE defining moments of Joel's and Ellie's relationship. My favorite moment is when Joel opens up about his daughter for the first time and Ellie's following response. This conversation before Ellie gives Joel the picture of him and Sarah makes me chocked up every. single. time! 😅 You can literally feel Joel's grief and Ellie's sincerest sympathy for his loss in that moment and it's just heartbreaking. I absolutely love this bittersweet intimate moment between them both (well, this sounds kinda wrong, but I hope the actuall message comes across ^^)

That’s the plan ;) Yes which is why I do like them so much. In the field hospital right? Yeah. He’s a broken, but changed man - and it becomes so apparent in that conversation. It’s a really good one too. It’s like Neil said in the grounded commentary - it’s tragic that they have to bond over something like Ellie learning to shoot hunters with a rifle. But the fact that they get closer makes it bittersweet. The same goes for the scene you mention too.

My favourite scene: Billstown, when they enter his hideout..... The story opens up more, the dialogue is good and funny and we get access to the Nailbombs and Bombs. BOOM BOOM BOOMs!

Yeah. I can get behind that. My favourite chapter in the game is bill’s town. It feels like you’ve gotten past the introductory phase and the game can begin for real :) ... I want you in my room, let’s spend the night together - for now until forever! (From the boom boom boom song that vengaboys made so that this comment doesn’t sound that weird lol)

Very nice iPadCat. For me the confrontation between Joel and Ellie in the abandoned house after Ellie steals a horse and runs away from Tommys. Such an emotionally charged moment.

A lot of people seem to like the ranch scene a lot. I get that. It’s a really powerful scene which ultimately is the culmination of Joel’s worry of getting too attached to Ellie - and it ends up being the turning point in their relationship and the story to some extent. Great pick for favourite scene Matt! :)

For me, all of the above and more, but the single omission - my favourite - surprises everyone when I mention it, probably because it seems so 'normal'. It's at the end of the Jackson episode, just before Joel departs with Ellie; Tommy says "There's a place for you here, you know". It took many playthroughs for the significance of this to really sink in, and it's a testament to Tommy's character when you realise what Joel made him do back when they survived as hunters. Tommy always wanted - and has finally found - peace, whereas Joel, within about 15 minutes of seeing his brother for the first time in heaven knows how many years, is at one point seconds away from displaying his violence-first approach to everything. Yet Tommy is prepared to overlook that because, for him, family comes first.

I’ve never thought about it that way before - and yes it does seem like an odd choice. But when you put it like that I can understand :) the Joel and tommy relationship was a bit underused in my opinion and I’d love to see it expanded in a part II expansion covering their journey from the start of the outbreak till they separated.

One of my favourite scenes is actually the first cutscene between Joel and Tess. It's not anything too special, but it gets across so much information about the current state of the world and about these two characters without ever sounding like exposition. Through completely natural dialoge we get to know that Tess is a badass, she and Joel are smugglers, ration cards are the currency in this society, and that Tess might even know about Joel's history (Sarah). There's even a little moment where Joel begins to father Tess unknowingly when he takes the rag from her and starts tending to her wounds without being prompted, showing that that parental side is still there.

I never really thought about it that way, but that’s a great analysis CasualShinji! With 20 years having passed between the world we know and the last of us’ world they had quite a task of having us rediscover it and the way you put it, that first scene gets a whole new layer :)

My favorite scene was the Ellie and Joel embrace in the winter section of the game. It’s a scene where you feel both good and bad because you get what you wanted with the relationship melding(Joel accepting his feelings and the relationship with Ellie) but at the cost of a part of Ellie due to the trauma. I liked your picks for the scenes though. Picking favorites scenes with this game is difficult because each of them are gems with how well the story was put together.

Yeah that is a very good scene too. You described it perfectly. There is no happy ending or perfect world in the last of us - and that scene is the embodiment of that sentiment - naughty dog specifically wanted the game to be that way, they even drastically changed the ending to be more bittersweet. Great pick of favorite scene :)

Very interresting video ! :D I had noticed the similarity between those two scenes, but just the questions asked and answers given, the difference between the first and this time where he asks this question after what they through, I didn't do at all. the kind of closeness you had, but I think you're right ! As for me, I particularly enjoyed the moment when Joel and Ellie leave Bill's town to reach Pittsburgh where the ambush is waiting for them with the music in the backgroud, until the moment when Joel burst the head of the hunter on the furniture to save Ellie. BUT my favorite moment of the game, still be the end of Fall, when hunters take the assault University, Joel's wound, we believed he's dead, Ellie's control, her fulnessbush, her resourcefulness, her trait, her punchlines against the hunters and her face-to-face against David. These are all those psychological stagings that I loved the most, and I hope that we'll can find similars things in The Last of Us II :')

The car scene is a good one. I like it too. It’s just the two of them in a sort of normal situation - despite the apocalypse around them. They joke around, listen to music and all that. It shows us that there can still be some normality apart from survival and violence. As for the suspense of whether or not Joel is dead - I actually managed to ruin it for myself by watching a playthrough before i got the game - so I never had to wonder. I am so mad at myself for that haha. But what I think is so amazing about that part is how small it makes you feel when you play as Ellie - you’re stripped of all your fancy weapons and perks and you’re dropped into a hostile winter wasteland with barely anything to defend yourself with. Awesome apocalyptic feel. And thanks for the comment Levroz_ :)

Also in both scenes they’re close to their final destinations. I have 2 favorite moments: “You have no idea what loss is” and the whole University part. First is because the dialogue on the ranch is so heartbreaking, and when Joel says “You have no idea what loss is” you can just feel his pain that had been with him throughout almost two decades. The University part is precious for me because it shows the loneliness of that world better than any other part; those yellowish/orange colors, those leaves on the ground and that place, that supposed to be a center of youth, empty, with notes of long gone students around the campus. Perfect.

Good interpretation of the university Alex! You have a really good point, education institutions are the insurance for the future of civilisation - and it being barren and dead is a symbol of there not being any hope for the future - really apocalyptic! I also like the ranch scene - the worry within Joel of getting too attached to Ellie that had up till that point been boiling and when he says that it culminates. It’s a turning point. Nice picks for favourite scenes :)

Many people seem to pick that one. I understand it because it’s when their relationship as father and daughter is really solidified and it’s in general a really well executed (pun intended) and emotional scene. Good choice! :)
