Also something that typically happens with regimes. They already have the infrastructure, institutions, contacts, supply lines, culture etc.. for their regime. The Seraphites won a Phyrric victory in that island attack by the WLF. The WLF burned their houses, food storages and farms. The elders ordered an evacuation of all seraphite children somewhere deep in the woods showing off the desperation of the Seraphites to save as many people as they can. Abby did hear that only 1 squad was returned. The Stadium was never attacked but hearing of what happened the remaining people at the Stadium would have to debate whether stay or leave the Stadium. The Seraphites who survived would have followed the elders and children to lick their wounds. Both factions suffered extreme loss of men and resources I doubt those two will ever thrive ever again after losing most of their reserve ammo and resources.

I would like to say that it’s possible that Boris’s fight against the WLF ended, at most, a year ago by the time Ellie shows up in Hillcrest. It’s lore that it takes around 1 year for an infected person to become a clicker. Boris being a stalker when Ellie find him supports this thought. Also the fact that the people Boris locked in the spore-infested garaged were only runners. (Now ,Boris being a stalker while the people he trapped, who were infected at the same time as him, were still only runners. I thought “how does that make sense”., but perhaps, simply and most likely, the infection works on people at different speed, which I’m sure is what Tess was referencing to when she found out Ellie was bit. So since the infection works on people at different speeds , and if Boris progressed faster than normal infected, then maybe even less then a year that his fight ended.) I don’t know the timeline for the years that the wolves took over Seattle compared when Boris begins his fighting. I just personally feel like the conflict between the WLF and Boris is played out by some people as if it happened YEARS AGO. As if it was before Abby’s time in Seattle. The conflict was not that long ago. It didn’t happen 10 years ago or 5 years ago. It was relatively recent. After beating Fedra, the WLF must of been very patient with Citizen of hillcrest to join for at least 5 years But i have an open mind, maybe I’m overlooking something…

The WLF actually does seem like quite an improvement over FEDRA. Even though they are similarly run, where you have like Isaac as head honcho and there are very strict rules and stuff, the WLF clearly fixed the food shortages that plague the FEDRA QZs. Even in wartime they are able to farm enough food that losing one or two farms isn’t a huge deal, growing crops, farming livestock and fishing. The WLF-run Seattle and indeed the Seraphite island are both thriving communities, reasonably safe from infected and well-fed. The problem is just this virulent fucking hatred they have for each other, to the point where the game never tells you how the conflict betweem them started because it doesn’t matter to anyone involved how it started. All that matters is the other side’s previous slight. And ultimately Isaac is so lost in the fucking sauce that he will throw EVERYONE at Scar Island with the explicit purpose of GENOCIDING the Seraphites, from adult soldiers to children (which is eerily reflective these days of Neil Druckmann’s stated source of inspiration for some of this stuff, the Israel/Palestine conflict). It’s not that it’s not possible to create a better world, it’s that so often people can be far too eager to throw it all away to satiate what can at worst be actual bloodlust. Ultimately we hear over the radio that the battle of Scar island is a ”fucking massacre” even for the Wolves. Two massive and prosperous communities destroyed by hatred.

Is the the wlf vs seraphite war supposed to be an allegory of what’s going on in palestine?
@AKblackandredYT7 ай бұрын
Essentially, yeah. That's what inspired it from Neil Druckmann's side. I'd say it's not a great allegory since it puts the Seraphites (Palestine) on the offensive and WLF (Israel) in the position of fighting to preserve shrinking territory despite the truth being the opposite way around, but it does have some telling things in there, like Isaac seeing genocide as the only way to peace, the Seraphites being completely dehumanised by the Wolves, the WLF breaking the truce by killing kids who threw stones at them, those like Owen who are tired of killing being pariahs, etc. I've been debating doing a video specifically on that, but that would be a tough one to write.

@@AKblackandredYT yeah, I notice that when Abby fights, her animations are like that of an isreali solder using Krav Maga. So maybe Abby supposed to be an idf soldier feeling guilt. @AKblackandredYT7 ай бұрын
Yeah I don't think it's intended to portray the Palestine/Seraphites in a good light, but ends up portraying the WLF/IDF in a bad light inadvertently. Which is interesting given that there's more nuance in Neil Druckmann's writing here than in his postings on real life politics, almost as if he *wants* his politics to be better than they *actually are*. That is probably a whole video essay in and of itself though.

@@AKblackandredYTI was looking at different perspectives on the game from both individuals who hated and loved it. I think your comment about his politics of the game and politics in relation to real life being different is so true! I feel like TLOU 2 conveys a message of understanding that violence breeds violence as well as the understanding of why people do that violence in the first place. It does this by forcing you to play as someone you’re going to hate, who progress throughout the story into someone who is “good” in the sense that they do morally just things, but also things they’d to some extent reasonably do. It forces people to uncomfortably take the shoes of someone you’d sensibly hate, because they took away someone you loved. I think this is the main reason why a lot of people hate it. However, humanizing someone you’re supposed to hate is a very hard thing, but ultimately, our character, Ellie, does that when they spare Abby, because she has recognized the erasure of her own humanity. She becomes what she first struggled to forgive Joe for being. You’d think that someone who conveyed this message through a game would be able to recognize the conflict between Israel and Palestine as complicated in the sense that both of these groups of people have been conditioned into despising one another. Neil fails to recognize the humanity of Palestinians by inadvertently indulging in Israel’s so-called justification for defending itself. Israel is the one in full-control of what’s happening, because they’re backed by the U.S. Neil fails to recognize that their power comes with responsibility and that Israel is only using its power to further a genocide.

I looked into the whole lore of the Last of Us Part 2. From what I could gather of the whole story of the game, Isaac allowed Abby to go to Jackson to kill Joel that wasn't even a threat to the WLF to begin with. Abby just wanted to kill Joel in revenge for murdering her father while he saved Ellie from the hospital in the first game, which also robbed a chance for a cure to the Cordyceps in Abby's eyes. I did hate Abby at first for killing Joel in Part 2, but that changed when I realized it was Issac who allowed her to go to Jackson in the first place, and also killed the Seraphites' prophet that started the WLF's war with the Scars in Seattle. Abby just wanted retribution for her father, no more than Ellie wanted the same after the former murdered Joel, because both were suffering from PTSD after the deaths of their respective fathers. Isaac didn't care about Abby's PTSD or the cause of it. He just allowed her to go to Jackson both in retribution of the smuggler who eliminated the chance of a cure and to eliminate a potential threat to the WLF during their war with the Seraphites. And for that, I hate Isaac and am equally satisfied that he got what he got what he deserved for his actions as a war criminal in the apocalypse.
