It is so refreshing to see more people saving our heritage. Old tools were made to last, from quality materials. Excellent video - looking forward to seeing the rest of your collection. Thank you.

I bought a Stihl arborists petrol saw for $20 from a bloke who said ‘it was too small’. Bought it home, cleaned it up, new oil and fuel, new plug, and it’s not failed yet. I’d probably get 10 times that if I sold it, but, I never will because it’s so damn handy to have a smaller saw you can carry easily and use all day and not wear yourself out.

Great video. I always enjoy seeing the old tools, they seem to be better built than the new ones, and enjoy using them moreI have several old drills and a skill saw from the 70s that I’m going to get working for a winter project. I prefer using old quality to new junk, when I can. Good to keep them out of the tip. I would enjoy seeing any of your older tools if you would like to share them with us.

I’ve made brushes for a grinder from some larger washing machine brushes, but as you say messy.

Sometimes the old tools are better, like not having the stupid complex fiddly safety lock just to turn the thing on. I was working as a telephone engineer and when the law changed thousands of the drills had their leads cut off short and thrown away.

Nice work as always POC, nothing wrong with having a penchant for older equipment at all... I recently replaced a worn out "chuck" on a 30+ year old Ryobi, the donor part came from a cheap cordless drill that didn't even last 5 years LOL 🤣

Good one, great to get the most out of the old kit. So much better than the super efficient environmentally friendly rubbish their pushing on us these days

I for one want to know. I'm 5 years older than your hedge trimmer. Long may you continue. They don't make 'em like they used to do they? Teach the young ones to look after their tools and appreciate what they have.

I've also been struggling with those stupid brushes. No standards, of course, all different shapes and sizes, different styles of contacts. How do you make the leads for your graphite substitutes? Those are moulded in for the factory ones. Great to see tools and items that were built to last, thanks for sharing.

I only have one really old hand held power tool which is a Wolf belt sander (the design that became the makita classic 9401 I believe), it's a beast, very heavy. Still works very well though rarely do I need such a powerful tool.

Hi, nice old electric tools! Just to let you know I bought a Crescent 4hp outboard identical to yours in great condition except for the carb which was very corroded. I got a Chinese copy of the Bing carb on ebay for just £20 including postage and it works a treat. Just in case you have trouble with yours. That's cheaper than a refurb kit! Regards,

A couple of weeks ago I had to replace the lead on our hedge cutter after the boss managed to cut through it. I still reckon she did it on purpose to get our of cutting the hedge 😆 It looked a horrible thing to dismantle, so I cut the lead very short and put one of those small rubber plugs you get on flymos. It's short enough that it can't get near the blades and if she chops through the new bit I can just stick the plug on the end of whats left, at least a few times anyway. Is that graphite block the same stuff you did the top of your table saw with?
