This is far from waffle, I’ve worked since I was 12, fishing with my dad and now offshore on a construction vessel in Azerbaijan, I absolutely love listening to the old seafarer boys and there stories, it’s just captivating and inspiring, I so enjoy going out fishing on my boat and you gave me some good advice on my vhf that’s now working perfectly.

I remember watching the show Danger UXB on public television in the U.S. decades ago. I realize there was probably dramatic license used in writing it, but, I think it gave a little idea of what both the military and civilians went through with the bombs found during and after WWII

My guess would be it was "sanitised " rather than dramatised.

A rare event these days to hear someone telling of times long past. It would seem values have changed. Well my race is almost run and as I think you once said when someone dies a whole library is lost! I cant imagine the hard won knowledge that has been lost to mankind that will have been acquired through experience and will never be available to future generations. Regards Stuart Bell from up North. Thankyou

Maybe a woffle, but good history background story. Step father was a rear gunner in a Lancaster. He never spoke about it too. Enjoy life and try to keep them coming, but most of all look after yourself and the wife.

Just opened my IPad and there you were! So very nice to see you back POC. That waffle reminded me of aJack Hargreaves and his very interesting and informative talks. Is that really a 1933 penny or was that just to catch us out? Is it a rare one?

Poc I've watched your videos on and off for quite a few years. I admire your knowledge and skills. Two family relations died and I bought a house. Sadly I was diagnosed with autism, I'm really struggling to find tradespeople to do my house up I can't do everything myself what is your advice please because I keep getting ripped off and lied to. All I want is to make my house nice. How do I find decent tradespeople everybody locally seems to be having the same problem many thanks Ian

Welcome to rip off Britain, such are the times we live in now, my advice is do all you possibly can, what is beyond you search the inter net ,get recommendations from friends and family and always remember any good ones won't be looking for work, it will only get worse ! gone are the days schools doing woodwork metalwork and when did you last hear about apprenticeships ?

Some keep quiet and never say a word other in the end speak as part of. Coming to terms with their experience. I listen to all of them because I never had to experience . My late grandfather fought at Gallipoli in WW1 his only comment to my Nan was it was Ot and Horrible he never went thru the horrors with my Nan he said she done her bit she worked in Munitions and Greenhouses kept the home fires burning and my grandad was so happy to home in the happy home and had my Mum and her brother, but me as the oldest grandson my grandad opened up and told me of the horrors I think he had to bear witness. Any subject spoke about from Fishing to Boating to Motorcycles within a sentence we we be talking about Gallipoli and it’s horrors eating bully beef and spratts dog biscuit and Colonel Sampson flying up and down the front taking pot shots at Johnny Turk.. Recently these recollections have been confirmed I know believe dear Grandad had PTSD AND HIS TIME IN GALLIPOLI haunted him all of his life he lived to over80 God Bless for him and my dear were wonderful grandparent all anyone could ever for and he and Nan made our life safe happy and useful always thinking of us and the other grandchildren My grandmother lived to 96 and I was one of the very lucky people to celebrate my 40th with my Nan present.. God Bless them both…❤

My Grandad fought at Gallipoli too. He seldom spoke of it but one occasion he spoke to my Dad of having to clear dead from the battlefield and how the arms and legs would detatch from the rotting corpses when lifted onto stretchers and how the flies were so numerous that when he took a bite of food it was like someone pouring currents out of a jar..... Lest we forget.

Great waffle, I’m always interested in these story’s. my father never talked much about the war till shortly before he passed away. My mother was raised on the Isle of Wight and she also had her share of being bombed . Always interested on your waffles looking foward to your next one take care
