Well let me start by saying this. I live in the country in United States now. I once lived in So. California and ate fast food daily. Because I am a long distance from a grocery store I have realized I need to cook for myself. Today at the ripe age of 42 I made my first, yes first what I call "major" meal in my life. Today was your beef stew. I followed your directions step by step (except I added a bit to much meat I think) and what I will say is it was good not great but good but didn't care since I waited 8 hours. I currently have dozens of your recipes saved a waiting to make. Thank you sir for teaching me how to cook lol! Out of all the people on YT I have found your character and personality are awesome. Thanks again and will let you know how I do on other meals.

When first married I made good beef stew. The meat was always so tender, and not chewy at all. Years later I learned the "RIGHT WAY" to make beef stew. (NOT). Brown the meat. But it never was the same. Then a couple of years ago I bought my first Crock pot and slow cooked the beef Stew, thinking that would help. No go. Then I saw your beef stew, like I use to make. I'm making it tonight. Thank you so much.

I had to make this after seeing the video and I'm glad I did. It is incredibly flavoursome and bloody huge, I guess I'll be eating stew for a while. I tried getting hold of the beef cheeks but couldn't find a place that sold them, I'll keep my eyes open for that. I substituted gravy beef and it worked fine, not the same fat content but still good. Thanks for the recipe, keep up the good work.

I use a slow cooker when i was in Spain working for the season (6 months) and i just chucked in the food when i woke up at 2pm lol Put it on medium went out and came back 6pm (4 hrs cooking) to eat it before i went to work an hour later.I only ate for myself so wasn't much in there as i had was a micro wave n kettle.I did boil the kettle and poured hot water in the slow cooker to speed it up abit and it helped.I loved it and mainly used thinly sliced of meat from eroski.Better than boiled eggs cooked from the kettle for 3 mins...yes you can boil egss in a kettle....just let it cook in the sink for 10 mins Mmmm nice n perfectly runny eggs.

It looks so good! I actually made a basic beef stew in my crock pot today. Just a can of mixed veggies, can of black beans, some parsley and some dried chopped onion, and some beef chunks, all in a generic beef broth. Just dumped it all in and cooked it for a few hours. It really hit the spot! Was meant to just be a quick dinner, but it tasted wonderful. I'll keep this in mind for next time. Just seeing that gravy like broth made my mouth water. And that smoked paprika is intriguing! 😊

Made this as a Sunday stew - my only alteration being to throw in a red paprika as well. It was excellent! That smoked paprika really added something extra. My only adjustment for the next time I make it, would be to give the potatoes a few twists of salt from the grinder and let them rest for a bit - to soak up the salt - before throwing them in.

I was over in the land of my fathers in '88 for Dublin's Millenium [ which for the great unwashed was the celebration of that city being One Thousand years old] hell... my country isn't even 300 years old. Back to the beef I did remember having Irish beef which was good but here in Alberta we like our beef with less fat [more meat on the roasts and steaks] We are lucky to have a butcher here in town [a dying breed, unfortunately] and we are lucky to be able to buy assorted freezer packs to stock our freezer for the winter. Loved my time in Good old Erin and would love to go back just to walk the Wild Atlantic Way and stay at the B&Bs but I think the years have taken their toll. By the way have you ever had bison....naaahh who ever heard of Irish Bison or come to think of it.. Irish Moose both of which are gawddamn good eatin' as we say in Alberta. To be fair I've had fish and chips in the UK but theirs can't compare to the fish and chips that I had in Ireland. So my friend I'll leave with this thought, if you should ever drop into The Spinning Wheel in Talbot street ask about the crazy guy that got up and sang "Johnson's Motor Car" with a Canadian accent. Good times had by all ;-]

It's very hard to either undercook or overcook after 8 hours. Especially beef...(chicken may be different). If you go over 8 hours by an hour or 2, no big deal....especially on low.
