Here goes a man with his own defined taste and personality. A joy to see someone collect with passion and individuality on KZbin - rather than show an audience of watch lovers a submariner, explorer, and speedmaster and expect us to be impressed.

Thank you. I call them “not the obvious watches”. When ever I go looking for something different I often come across watches that I just love. These are by far the best I’ve come across and just adore them.

This is a very interesting perspective. When asked what my favorite watch is, I'd usually say the one I wear the most, but that doesn't necessarily have to be so.

My favorite watch is neither my most worn nor a Grail. It’s the watch that I just have the most joy looking at and strapping on my wrist. Out of my collection it’s my Rolex 16713 root beer. It doesn’t go with every outfit so it’s clearly not for every day wear but every time I put it on and wear it out, I grin ear to ear the whole time.

That’s great to hear. That joy of wearing a watch you love. Thanks for WATCHing

I enjoy the level of thought and consideration that you invest into your watch collecting James. My favourite watch is a Tag Heuer Carrera Calibre 5 Day Date - my business and lifestyle dictates that every other watch in my collection is a “tool watch”, whereas the Carrera is the watch I wear for special occasions. It helps that it has my most beautiful mesmerising blue dial that I have ever seen too!

Funny you say this James. Watching your video has made me realise a similar thing. By no means my most expensive in terms of purchase price, by no means my ultimate grail, nor my most worn, but my favourite watch is my Hamilton Ventura Elvis80 on bracelet. The curve to the sapphire crystal as it approaches the crown edge of the watch, the unique shape, the history of the Ventura line, the fact I’m a huge Elvis Presley fan. All these combine to make that watch by far my favourite in my collection.
@WATCHingJamesАй бұрын
I’ve been looking at those lately. They are so cool.
@thetattedpharmacist3215Ай бұрын
@ awesome watch. I think their MSRP is $2799 or thereabouts in Aussie dollars, I got mine on AAWF from a fellow member, three year old example with minor wear on the bracelet for $900!!

Great vid James. I think the quid to everything here is that one of the biggest lessons in the hobby is that u have to WEAR your watches. Most,if not all watches that have even a few great features will grow on u,especially styles u thought u didnt like will later become favorites because watches have to experienced,not just viewed behind glass to learn if we truly like them. 100% everyone will be surprised by the evolution of their tastes.

Great topic James, I recently bought a North Edge watch from aliexpress. Just out of curiosity and it was indeed very cheap, on top of that is a 47mm beast. I've been wearing it a lot since it arrived. It doesn't look bad on my wrist and makes me understand why Panerai watches are so popular. We watch guys are a hungry lot

Beautiful watch, James! My favorite is my first nice watch, a TAG Heuer 2000 auto that I bought new in 2004. It was on my wrist when I got married & when my boys were born. It was my only watch (not counting Casios, of course) until 2017. It still runs well, but I don’t wear it much anymore…about once a month. It’s the one watch I’ll never sell!

Hello James. Another excellent video that's got me thinking. That Hamilton Jazzmaster GMT is a gem of a watch. It's proof that you don't have to spend daft money to buy a watch that really chimes with yourself. As it happens, probably the favourite watch that I own is a Hamilton Khaki Field Automatic (Black dial 38mm). I wish that it didn't have a date, that it was a 40mm and that ´the lug to lug wasn't so long, but that dial is simply sublime in my opinion. Make it a small seconds and I'll get my credit card out in an instant. I really want to buy an Oris Big Crown Pointer date - my grail watch - though I'm not sure which one, it'll definitely something from their back catalogue. I really enjoy the content that you create and think that you're going from strength to strength. Long may that continue, James. Best.

My favourite watch isn’t one of the ones I built, but one of them came close. My favourite isn’t even an automatic. It’s the second cheapest tritium watch on AliEx, a quartz chronograph that I paid less than $100 US for, and its tritium tubes are definitely genuine and much brighter than expected.

Interesting as always, I did guess which watches they would be. They are three fantastic watches, but strangely I have no desire to own any of them. The choices we make are very personal, and influenced by subtle things we aren't aware of. Buying a watch at a good time in your life affects how you view it, and it can work the other way, negative experiences with buying or servicing a watch can also put you off. The way we feel about a watch is partly about the physical characteristics of that watch, but with all the feelings about that watch overlaid, no wonder it's hard to predict which ones will turn out to be favourites and which won't!

Excellent content concept, and I can absolutely relate. My personal favorite is also a Jazzmaster (day date), and all other purchases seem to undergo similar comparison. Something about it checks all my boxes, and I couldn't have guessed how many of those boxes I had before regular wrist time with that specific piece. It's not my most worn watch, nor is it the most expensive I own. It's just... right.
