Subject Delta's face is metaphorical. In short, consciousness is all about the recognition of the self and the non-self. It has its body of metal and its instincts; no history or life remains in the mutilated husk. Subject Delta is conscious regardless of its predicament. Subject Delta's mind is almost alien in its brokenness. Subject Delta can observe itself through consciousness, but it has no identity, no face.
