You kept it in for 9 whole days, though - and clearly, as time goes on, the tube itself joggles out of place. And you've absorbed a lot of important nourishment in that time. I give you lots of thumbs up on that one!! Not to mention good grace and patience dealing with leakage and explosions...

Jemma Boo you would be surprised! I have a heart condition and a lung condition, yet I registered as an organ donor. I messed up the registration and didn’t consent to donating my lungs and heart, because I assumed that they would be too badly damaged for doctors to use. I was wrong- even though my heart has some scar tissue, I found out that they could still use some of it. Same goes for my lungs, even though I might need some (more) of my left lung removed within a couple of years.

Please ya'll no fighting. I know the Frey's share a lot of their life with the public, even with the every day challenges of Mary having c.f. But in my opinion they do not deserve to see any viewers fighting over where she is treated and why. They are fully covered with a specialized team aware of the c.f. challenges. And Trista was correct she meets at Children's Hospital. But she graduated a while ago from pediatric. You can go to their Q and A play list for more information. Let's be respectful to one another for the sake of Mary and Peter. And if you do not care, then there are plenty of other vlogs to watch 😉 💕🤗 Thanks and god bless.
@LunaLaudanum7 жыл бұрын
Trista May it wouldn't have because she coughs all day long. There isn't a day she doesn't cough. And she has also stated that her lungs are in NO CONDITION to go under anesthesia for this kind of procedure. All they are doing is seeing if the NJ tube helps her, and if it gets to that point, that's when her and her CF team talk about the surgery. Surgery isn't always the go-to first option for people with CF.

Understandably mary has issues with going under anesthesia, but i was wondering if she needed to get the permanent nj tube why couldn't they do an epidural or something that way they don't have to put her under and put her lungs under to much stress?
@raeofsunshine177 жыл бұрын
Amanda Moore Placements for those are too high for spinals, I'm guessing. Spinals can't typically go higher than waist level, which is about where the permanent tube would go.
@BuddySan247 жыл бұрын
Amanda Moore the issue with that is anything involving her abdomen would be a really hard recovery due to how much she coughs
@Leenie427857 жыл бұрын
Amanda Moore It's a good thought but an epidural wouldn't help in this case. Epidurals & spinals only work for the lower half of the body. It unfortunately wouldn't help for getting the NJ placed 😕
@kylieghfox56507 жыл бұрын
Amanda Moore the tube would be called a g-tube I have one it's a hole in the stomach and its painful when you cough when you first get it.
@amandatallman42007 жыл бұрын
Wouldn't the pain be the same either way after with her coughing? i mean they basicly do abdominal surgery when you have a C-section and they do epi/spinal for that in most cases. i know completely different situations.

Having had several NG and NJ tubes, for "fuel", i know how incredibly frustrating it is when they come up😞 Mary, your attitude is RIGHT ON..."do what you think you can't do!" as well as ,"fly when you think you can't walk!" have helped me sooo much and have become a part of my daily affirmations!!.. (both of these quotes SERIOUSLY need to be on merch!!)😁 Being able to quickly move on from upsetting situations or disappointing ones, (losing a tube!) into enjoying the rest of your day is soooo important.. Good idea and they could do a local, instead of a general, or an epidural.
@marieked7 жыл бұрын
+LadyD x they typically use sedation in adults, using local as well, but just using local would be hell. A friend of mine had a GJ placed with just a local and she said it was painful and as they use endoscopy she felt like she was suffocating. I had mine under sedation with local by endoscopy as well and while it was unpleasant it wasn't horrible.

There is also the twilight sedation - I got my endoscopy and colonoscopy with it. No intubation and absolutely no putting your body to sleep. Just wake up and your set to go. So between an epidural and twilight sedation it could be a possibility.

Having had several NG and NJ tubes i know how incredibly frustrating it is when they come up😞 Mary, your attitude is RIGHT ON..."do what you think you can't do!" has helped me sooo much and has become a bit of a daily affirmation!!!😁 Being able to quickly move from the upsetting moment into enjoying the rest of your day is soooo important.. You are such an amazing inspiration and have reminded me many times not to stay stuck when things don't go as expected, rather to feel it, acknowledge the feelings and move forward. Thank You😁💕🌷

TPN is extremely last resort and dangerous as it causes liver failure and risks sepsis

Jenna Poole Thank you for info. I've only had family who needed it due to pregnancy complications. risks were never discussed. Praying for her body to absorb food and maintain weight.

Watching old Frey Life videos makes appreciate the many difficult steps Mary and the entire CF community have made in the last few years.

Mary, do you like Parmasian cheese in chicken soup? It's even better with chicken and rice, but chicken noodle, too. My Dad loved that.

is it normal for people with nj tubes to have them come out or is it because of the coughing?
@kelseys6287 жыл бұрын
Tianna Price I believe most people won't ever cough so often and so hard. I haven't heard of them coming out a lot for non-CFers

It came out when I threw up. I don't cough like her. I just have Crohn's and autoimmune. (I didn't feel it come out)

+TheFreyLife I think that it's very hard with an NJ. If you wanna deal with it go ahead but if it's not for you, it's not worth it.
