Your videos are normally so calming (as well as informative/instructional), but this was just pure chaotic energy... and I loved it! You definitely showed your professionalism and expertise in the kitchen 'when push comes to shove', but it was also lovely seeing you dither a bit when deciding which to prep first; so relatable! Well, let’s see: (1) the potatoes and carrots were already peeled, (2) the scallions were already washed, (3) the butter and flour were already pre-measured, and (4) the oil was already heating up, or did I miss when you measured out the oil, poured it into your fryer, and then started it heating up? So in the reality of we home cooks, there’s a lot more to preparing a fast-food meal than you let on, and we don’t have assistants to do the background prep work. Nice try, though. This isn’t a criticism of you, Marion. I love your recipes. But I’m real tired of recipes that say “5 minutes of prep” when it’s more like 20-30 minutes, at least it is for me. P.S. Do you explain how to cook your recipes in an air fryer? I just got one, so I’m wondering if that chicken could work in my new air fryer or if the batter is too wet and drippy.

I'm sure Marion and team can take the constructive criticism or how will they improve... this seems like a page out of Josh Weissman's channel, and if so they can see that Josh always makes everything from scratch... I would have chosen a fast food that had less components as a first run...

Completely agree.... this is a copycat attempt at Josh Weissman or Ethan C., but it really doesn't work. First - as you've said, the ingredients were already prepped. Second, she doesn't worry about cleanup, and she used a ton of dishes. Ethan cleans up as he goes & includes that time in the countdown. Finally..... hate to say this but I don't like all the plastic packaging in the fried chicken kit.... feels like a waste. I generally like Marion's vibe but this concept needs a major rethink. ETA: I was kind of grossed out by her handling the raw chicken and then touching everything else.

What oil do you use to fry the chicken?

Marion generally uses vegetable oil, rice bran oil or peanut oil.
