No, I read all of their posts on reddit and she was the one who wanted to be living in a car together. Its normal when you are staying with someone for free that you show your appreciation or "earn your keep" by helping with chores etc. She has some serious jealousy issues going on. Of course at 28 years old he should have his shit together and not living out of a car but I can understand him wanting to get the 2 of them off the streets. Because if he wanted to be with this friend of his, why would he beg her to go there with him in the first place?

The orange one brought back such a funny memory of my late mother. There were several of us in the kitchen (they had a big kitchen) and my mother had a orange in her hand and after awhile she was raising it to her mouth and I said “you might want to peel it first” and started laughing. I know she forgot it was a orange, but nope she went all in and said “I like it like this” and proceeded to eat it with the peel on. We were peeing ourselves laughing, because the look of disgust on her face after each bite was hilarious, but she kept trying to be serious. It became our family joke, mom would get serious about something and one of us would say “Joans getting another orange”. 😂 Miss my parents everyday and we got a lot of love and laughter

Story 1: I saw this one before on LG & no matter how many times I do the bf STILL pisses me off so effing bad. Without context you could kind of tell that they weren't good for each other, and it sounded like the BF was making no effort to spend time with his GF and catering to his friend all under the guise of "she was so kind to let us stay at her place, it only makes sense for me to give her more attention". He kept saying in all his replies to people urging him to just let her leave that he "can't let her go"--kinda let it slip it was mostly for financial reasons, but then quickly tried to cover it up with, "I worry about her being on her own" as if she'll do something drastic. Yet, in that same breath, he replies that she on numerous occasions has urged for them to break up, that they aren't right for each other and it's clear he doesn't have time for her. Yet SHE'S the bad guy just for asking that they just split up? After the GF's post, I disliked him EVEN MORE because all his replies made HER seem like the unreasonable and controlling one, when it was actually the opposite. This was a relationship from hell and I hope the GF never has to see his miserable mug ever again.

Ya, Though I am willing to be that the attitude that women only ask for help if they want something.. and that if one ever let you stay off the street while you got a job... That reason is they want to fuck the bones off of you, and daring to ask for household support and being a positive rolemodel for a kid while she provided you a house to stay when you'd be otherwise homeless is completely the 'Oh Ya, I want this homeless guy and I'm going to steal him from his GF he just traveled across state with', and the power move from that secrete single mother with a child is letting the GF stay as well.. and she'll be the monster for asking to help clean up after giving you a roof over your head. That GF has more sexist views than andrew tate does. She is one of those girls that will demand you cut off all your female friends if you have any, and lord help you if a friend needs help.. and she hasn't gotten her daily or bi-daily dicking.

Orange story; the comment mentioning that maybe they were fucking with OP may be valid. Back in the 90's, my youngest brother was still at home. When other people were over for dinner, he and my mother had a prank involving the Macarena, a song and dance craze at the time. .As soon as every one was done eating dinner, either my mom or brother would jump up hollering "what time is it?" And the other would reply "It's Macarena time!" And proceed to put on the song and force everyone to dance, insisting it was the tradition. I loved this so much, my own family started this immediately when my kids had friends over for dinner. Thanks Mark, i hadn't heard this story before and reminded me of some old family memories that set me off laughing.

@@justaperson4656 Just a basic pound cake or white cake recipe with orange zest and maybe some orange juice substituted for part of the liquid in the recipe or some orange extract the way you make a lemon cake. Then you ice it with orange flavored icing made with orange zest and maybe some food coloring to make the icing match the cake. It's the same as a lemon cake. Of course, it's not necessary to use the food coloring if you prefer not.

Story two: I looked this up on the Internet, and apparently the peel of an orange has a lot of nutrients in it. "The skin of the oranges contains a good amount of polyphenols that protect against several diseases". They also say to cut the peel into small pieces to avoid bloat and stomach discomfort. Maybe an orange peel is very nutritious but eating it is very unpleasant. Nobody should be pressured to eat an orange peel.

Story 1: If living in a car for months seems like a viable life choice, you aren’t ready for a relationship. I mean no disrespect for people who fall on hard times and end up living in their car, but you don’t move somewhere with the intention of living in a car with someone you’ve only known for a few months. First you get your shit together while getting to know each other better. Story 2: dump him. Nothing wrong with how they eat oranges, but nonstop pressure to force you to eat oranges that way combined with the angry guilt-tripping after the fact says this is not a family you want any part of. I hope you find the update and it says she dumped the idiot.

Story 2: OP's bf wanted her to eat the orange with the peel as a "compromise"...but that wouldn't have been a compromise? It'd have just been giving in, compromise is both sides giving in a bit, so I guess in this case taking a bite of it or maybe eating half? Side note I legitimately couldn't couldn't see myself being able to eat an orange with the peel, I've tasted an orange peel once out of morbid curiosity, I wouldn't say it was bad but just that the peel by itself tastes too "plain" so I couldn't see it adding anything to the orange itself tastewise and would only add that weird texture difference of getting a bite of something dry before something juicy

I remember the orange one lol, I always pictured a cow chomping on an orange. I have this bizarre little orange tree in my greenhouse. My grandad planted it 6 years ago i still got no clue what they sre called. They are tiny oranges, the insiis unbearably sour and the peel is super sweet. They cannot be eaten separately and have to be eaten whole.

It's crazy how in the beginning Op really was painting the gf as crazy but the more he spoke, the clearer the picture became. He don't even love her, he just wanted a roommate and a charity project. Even his own post screams savior complex. Orange story: I laugh everytime I'm reminded of this story. I'm sorry but I wouldn't want to "keep the peace" either if it requires me to still take a bite into a fucking _orange_ like it's an apple. 😭It sounds like it would be a segment in ICarly or something.

2: Beyond the whole question of *why anyone would eat an orange that way,* this is a *weird* hill for the boyfriend and his family to die on. Messy one, too. And *gross.* Like, my paternal grandpa would peel oranges in such a way that left most of the pith on, but he mostly tsked and chided me a bit for wasting a source of nutrients when I refused to eat that part. The man grew up in the Great Depression, so I get him wanting to take advantage of *everything* edible. What OP described is just... how do they not end up squirting orange pulp all over the room?!

Second Story: OP is NTA for standing up for herself. No one has a right to force another to eat something or do something that they don't ant to do. The fact that OP's BF berated her and gaslit her into feeling guilty about not complying with the insane demand is a HUGE red flag. OP needs to consider this a deal breaker. It means that OP's parents rule his life via traditions that they have created. Since she was never forewarned about this weird way of her BF's family means that there are more family traditions that she has not been told of yet. Imagine married life with this overbearing family where OP's SO prioritizes his parents desires over OP's. Imagine who is going to be in control of OP's life and the lives of her future children. GTFO, OP! RUN!

Growing up with orange groves around us we sometimes ate oranges with the peel still in. Not navel because the peel and pith is too thick and too acidic so it will make your tongue numb for most of the day. The smaller sweeter orange varieties with thin peel are so delicious when eaten whole, it’s like adding orange zest and pulp to a glass of orange juice. But In moderation because it is more acidic eaten that way however good it tastes 🍊 ❤

I'll admit, I had the same reaction as the orange OP when I found out that was how you eat a kumquat. The school I work at gives the kids unusual fruit (for my area, like rambutan and lychee) as afternoon snacks. The kids weren't sure bc they had seen classmates bite into them like apples, so I googled it for them and then tried it myself. Turns out kumquats have a sweet rind and a sour inside
