Hi @TechHut, there is a frame around 3.45 where the people in your Immich library are not blurred out. You might want to take a look at that.

Been using this ages. It’s by far the best I have used. TrueNAS have a great template from the community which just sets up all the docker containers for you.
@bajarat7220 сағат бұрын
In the administrator settings under storage templates, you can enable a storage template that will organize your photos however you want. After you change this setting, you might have to start the storage template job.

Hey hey hey! You can setup storage template in settings, so the photos you upload have a nice folder structure - you can pick which one suits you best!

I got a used sff desktop pc and followed your 'setting up my new home server - full walkthrough guide' video. I'm using two old 2.5" laptop hdds for this and they have different read/write speeds. I've got both mounted in ubuntu server in an lxc container in proxmox. The faster drive houses my immich docker compose file and photo storage. On the slower drive I use rsync to backup the photos daily. I use the IOS app and tailscale with it. I'm really happy with how it turned out.
@Peter-vg6zl23 сағат бұрын
at 11:05, if you enable storage template engine you can configure the file structure you want as you upload files. You're photos will end up in the library folder. It's not too late to turn that on after in initial setup, you just go into administration/settings/storage template.

What's better about immich vs. memories plugin of nextcloud? And how does it handle your Google Pixel images with UTC timestamps vs. images with local time for example the images shot in Germany.

Is it handling keywords ? Dates ? How ? XMP ? You say Synology Photos being proprietary but it is storing keywords in the pictures files. If Immich is using its own darabse, you are also caught up with it ...

if i remember correctly immich does not auto sync from mobile to your storage, but you have to use photosync ?? anyways great video still need to build my unraid and do all of this to get off google

Immich doesn't have the feature of auto-delete the photos that you uploaded (to free up space) so it's useless to me and a complete deal breaker. I use memories instead

Here is a tip, you don't need to run the full fat Portainer container on the machine because there is something known as " Portainer Agent ", which means you get Access to all of your Portainer containers on one ip

the app is good contacted the developer who told us a group of users for next release after this one they will be adding auto delete after upload to server (it will ask you if you want to delete it ) so when this get implemented will be awsome

If they have proper metadata that's best. You can upload directly using the WebUI, backup everything on a device, or if you have a huge archive, you can use their CLI tool.

If you are away from your home on a trip, do you need to be on WiFi or does Immich support upload over cellular data? Also when away, how does the connection work back to your Home NAS without compromising security into your home network?
@WhyitJellyDonutКүн бұрын
I use tailscale on my server which is a reverse proxy for my family to upload and access photos from other states.
@glenjones2277Күн бұрын
@@WhyitJellyDonut I've seen that option, but doesn't that require your family to have the tailscale client running on their device?
@fullstack_journeyКүн бұрын
what I do is have an inconspicuous domain name, point it to a cheap VPS server, have tailscale running on it along with a reverse proxy, and point immich.your-domain-name-here -> to my local immich server IP through that reverse proxy. everything just works flawlessly, and its also done without needing to expose any other ports on the VPS apart from the one for https (443). and another quality of life feature would be to setup a local DNS server on your home network, and have an entry that points `immich.your-domain-name-here` to your local immich IP, this way it eliminates the hop to the internet on all devices on your Local network without needing to run tailscale client on your family phones, AND when they go out of home, the VPS + reverse proxy + tailscale on the VPS takes over making it completely seamless. PS this is not limited to immich you can do this with any other service as well ;)

@@glenjones2277It does yes your family need to have Tailscale installed.
@GreyscaleNightmares21 сағат бұрын
@@glenjones2277if you setup a funnel in tailscale no, it'll allocate a web address with a tailscale subdomain and make it visible to the public internet, albeit with some caveats, but can confirm it does work (currently setup with jellyfin for me for friends to access my media)

the stupid way of how google photos handles device folders and tries to implement the virtual albums way, was unfortunately copied by immich. I handle a synology nas, which uses folders from all family. I dont need a 15 year timeline with 60.000 pictures unhandled and just displayed on the screen scrollable. i want folders to be viewed as albums.
