This is the smartest and most valuable RV/van channel on KZbin. Spot on analysis regarding real estate. Will, have you thought of creating a recommended reading book/article list? I'd be interested in what your favorite books are. Also, have you read Sapiens by Yuval Harari?

The best deals I have found on Real Estate, and looking at sales it is apparent real estate is in winter, so prices are going down and will continue so why buy now? Unless I can get a deal. The best deal I ever found was a $100,000 dollar house I purchased at a Fed Gov TAx Auction for $7,000 Tax owed for a Non Filer. So the moral of the storey, allways File your tax, Did you know the signature at the bottom is an agreement to pay the amount owed, did you know if you put 0.00 owed, that is all they can legally take by force from you and so you only get a nasty letter from the IRS I use as Kindling. I never have my assets taken from me and that is because I read Cracking The Code and I learn the signature is an Agreement to pay the amount on the Owed line and if I put I agree to pay 0.00 the government cannot legally do a thing about it only send nasty letters. It is True Will Blue Man, go and get the book, it is a nice way to keep $10,000 in your pocket and you have nothing for them to take but some crummy ETF's. Read the book and try it out and share the result with your audience. I did it and now I am nicely invested in the stock market. I am only a girl, although I am married to a MD Harvard Grad UCLA trained wonderful man.

Elixx, I think that Will is a smart and resourceful guy. I graduated from a university where the acceptance rate is under 10% and where the average college board scores are in the top 1% nationally. I also qualify for membership in Mensa. Although I make a good living and don't need to use any of this RV living info in real life, Will's channel is entertaining. It's like watching astronaut Mark Watney in The Martian trying to solve a number of problems in his effort to return home. Some of the commentators are just trying to help him out like the guys at mission control center.

Elixx, you missed quite a few of his videos in which he explained his medical problems and how he dealt with them. A lot of DSLR cameras and their lenses retain much of their value years later. I know because a camera that I bought for $1600 about five years ago was selling for $1600 new up until this summer when a newer model came out. A lens I bought for $2400 about five years ago is also selling for $1900 now. Some of my other lenses and photography gear actually increased in value during that time (inflation). Will is ahead of most people that I know (I come from a college-educated, upper middle class background and have very successful friends) when it comes to economics and entrepreneurship. His lifestyle combined with his outlook and knowledge of economics is what makes him and this channel very unique on KZbin.

Will, you are very young with an old man's knowledge and wisdom of life. I like how you present yourself, in a no-nonsense fashion. You are so real and hold no pretenses about your experiences on the road, about your health, or just about life in general. Your transparency is very refreshing as well. I feel that you give a lot of value through each one of your videos. It's clear that you are compassionate about people and want the best for them as you do for yourself. Thanks for making this video. It answers a lot. I'm hooked on your channel, and I haven't been able to figure out why. When attempting to analyze why, it always comes up the same: your life story and what & how you've overcome is truly remarkable; you've made your own job - out of literally nothing - with impressive success (and you are only getting started); and you've somehow figured out the keys to financial success that most people go through a lifetime and never figure out. I love the solar stuff, the RV stuff, the health stuff, the hobo stories - but in the end I guess I'm here because it is a treat to watch intelligence at work. Thanks for sharing, thanks for educating, and most of all... thanks for inspiring!

Your honesty is so refreshing, and you explore topics that for most youtubers is taboo. Real world information about finances. The number one concern people have is their finances, yet they are too embarrassed to even bring up the subject because of the stigma associated with it. I've had lifelong friends where finances never came up, and they later declared bankruptcy. Had no idea. The fact that you are so honest, is more refreshing than you can comprehend. I'm happy for your success, and you have great content. How you don't have 10x your subscribers is beyond me. I subscribe to 100 channels, yours is the only I receive notifications from. Not everyone can buy real estate without a loan. But here is a cautionary tale based on my real life experience that makes what you're saying about buying a house with cash a smart move. We purchased a house a couple of years before the housing bubble in the early 2000s. We didn't overpay for it and it was a nice house! We stayed in that house while my wife and I went to college. While we were finishing our degrees the housing bubble grew and eventually popped. We graduated from college and started to get awesome job offers from across the country! We thought to ourselves, "time to sell the house and move!" We got the house appraised and found out it had lost over a $100,000 in value from what we bought it for because the market had tanked. We were stuck in the house waiting for the market to recover. And it took over 8 years for the values to come back! It was the lowest point in my life we were stuck and imprisoned by the mortgage we took out on the house. Never again will I sell my freedom like that! We missed so many great opportunities over those 8 years and it was an incredibly depressing time in our lives! Everyone says real estate is an investment, which it is! But every investment comes with risk and I had no idea what I was putting on the line when I signed up for that mortgage.

I've been watching you grow through your videos for a few years now, and I'm very impressed with you, and proud of you for coming from your background to where you are. I'm a gardener, and I don't buy a plant unless 1) I can make money off of it or 2) it's so cheap, it doesn't matter if it dies. For example, I'll buy a plant that I know puts out lots of seeds that I can sell or use to grow more plants that I can sell. I try to spend as little as possible on these plants or grow them from seed. I trade plants with people, even ones I know I don't want to grow, because I know I can sell them for much more than the cost of postage. Example: I spent $18 for a trade with another gardener and made it back on just one of the cutting he sent me, and it wasn't even something I asked for, it was just an extra he sent me. I've made over $75 on the plants and seeds he sent me so far, and some of them died. I live in an apartment with very little space around it for gardening, but I maximize that space, then when people come to buy plants, they can see what I was able to do with the plants they are buying, plus what I did in a tiny space. I've been bad in one regard. I have a garden blog, but I've never written an ebook, and your made me see that I need to do that. I can literally put my blog posts into an ebook and people will buy it before they will read my blog and buy a product, because most of my posts aren't something I could tie to a product. So my next goal is to write two ebooks (maybe 3, just thought of another topic) and sell them to finance my move to Mexico. Always remember that you're a genius (very apparent) and if you had come from a perfect background, you probably wouldn't be where you are now. Sometimes it's best to know where you DON'T want your life to go, and move slowly but surely away from that to something better. My son has done that, and you remind me a lot of him. KEEP GOING! You can do anything you want to do.

Ha! It's cheaper to be rich than to be poor. Nice one and very true. If you have cash available, you don't have to get a loan if you want to buy a car. And if you don't need to pay interest, that's cheaper. If you have cash available you can buy stuff 10 items at the same time when there is a good deal at hand. Just buy 10 shirts and 5 pairs of shoes with a great discount. That 's cheaper. But you can only do it, if you got your own stash of cash. And If you have cash available, you can decide for yourself WHEN you want to buy someting because you don't depend on the time restrictions that come with a loan. That's cheaper. So, yes, its cheaper to be rich. But many people don't realize that even if you have a backup of like 20k - 30k you can get about the same result. So you don't really have to be 'rich' to benefit from this principle. Great video Will, as always. Keep up the good work!

Will, the following is just a comment from an old guy who doesn't know you at all. So take it with a grain of salt. It occurs to me that you are in the driver's seat of your life and you have a golden opportunity staring you right in the face. Although your books probably generate a decent source of income, the real opportunity for you is in product development. Specifically, a portable solar generator. For the sake of this comment, we'll call it the 3P (Prowse Power Portable) Solar Generator. You don't need to be a manufacturer. Just be an assembler of the internal components you've researched and tested. Design a case that you'd like to see on the market. Build the prototype. Make it better, more affordable than any competitor's products. Pitch it to the money folks at an industry aligned partnership (possibly one of the component manufacturers). This channel IS your pitch. Get a lawyer to broker your deal. Let the money people deal with the licensing issues regarding the various internal component manufacturers. Walk away and collect your percentages when we all start buying them. Two years later, bill those same partners for a consulting fee on the newer model of the wildly successful 3P Solar Generator. Become wealthy. Buy an island. Have Chris Stapleton perform at your wedding. That's one American dream.

Quick note about health insurance: all of my surgeries were 10-25 grand and I have been under 6 times. Health insurance with deductible would cost me 12 grand a year. The chances that I will need a surgery once a year or once every two years is unlikely now with my current life choices. Last year my ankle treatments were not covered by my insurance. I was paying for insurance, and it didn't cover my treatments because they were things like prolotherapy and massage. So in my eyes, health insurance is only great if I need cancer treatments or I need to be airlifted. For everything else, I'd rather pay cash. A few thousand here and there is still way cheaper than .e paying for healthcare. Please tell me where I'm wrong in this thinking though. Also, if I get hit with a huge bill, I will pay it at lowest amount till it's gone, and it would still be cheaper monthly than for me to have health insurance in this country. I just cannot justify the cost of paying 600-800 a month and having that huge deductible. It's crazy!

And if I get cancer I'll just take some cash to a medical toursit destination and pay for it. When I was 18 I did this three times for shockwave therapy for my plantar fasciitis. I spent 2 grand in canada instead of 30 grand here in the US.

Regarding cancer. Some cancers are easier and more simple to treat. Like tonsillar, could be just radiation and a little chemo. Probably $100,000. Some weird lymphoma or a leukemia may run a million or more when all said and done with transplants etc. Be smart when paying medical bills. Don't flash any cash and like you said, pay the lowest amount per month you can. A lot of the charges will be written off. There are some oral medications that are $15,000 a month. Many drug companies have patient assistance programs to take the monthly cost down to just $100s. Oral medications for diseases like MS might run $60,000 a year. I personally would not go without insurance but I'm a lot older with a fat 401K, house equity and other assets. More to lose. The medical tourist idea is probably good for a single treatment or short series of treatments but nothing long term, like over the period of 3 years or so. AND, don't do any non-conventional treatments. They are generally unsafe and expensive. Stick to stuff that's accepted treatment here in the states, Europe, Canada etc.

Wow! You can totally disregard my other comment on another video. You obviously have been through a crucible of your own that's given you a unique lens. What you're saying here is so spot on. I went the other path. Got an old house that needed some work. Was so excited about fixing it up. Then I got lead poisoning, and interestingly enough muscle twitching and nervous system problems. Later I got diagnosed with Lyme Disease. Meanwhile my house is a money pit and I end up in debt up to my eyeballs. The divorce didn't help either. My saving grace has been my job as a Java Developer. I make good money but I am so strapped with debt because of trying to play catch-up with my health and fix the house. If I had followed your path, my stress would be lower, I wouldn't be a mouse to my employer because I'm afraid to speak my mind and get the axe. Mortgages are f'ing evil and you're so smart to avoid it if you can. And you're so young to be so wise. Good for you - you're an inspiration dude. By the way, since you still struggle with nervous system stuff, give my other comment from today a more serious thought (re: EMFs from all this equipment). You could have your cake and eat it too with the right shielding strategies. You may not buy it, but let it simmer and see if the research speaks to you.

Will, I think I understand you better than most. I had Carpel Tunnel surgery February 2017. On March 17, I couldn't sit up in the bed...Stalp, off to the hospital. Came home after a week, shot antibiotics for 5 weeks. Then 2.5 weeks later, I couldn't move again...this time the infection was in my spine..ostiomyolitis. More antibiotics, back home after 5 days and 6 more weeks of home injections. Then May 29, I became unresponsive, sand off to a different hospital...SEPSIS...kidneys shut down and I went into a coma for 4 days. I couldn't hardly move. Tons of MRIs, blood tests, ECT. I was in the hospital for a month, then rehab for 5.5 weeks. It took a week to get me on my feet at rehab, and I can go with 1 cane sometimes, usually two. I do have some memory issues, and lots of back and leg pain. They said it could take 2 to 3 years to recover. I thank God I can at least walk. So, I think I have a glimpse of what you had to endure.

Quinton P. Young III. I just turned 58, so we are basically the same age. Having issues that negatively impact ones quality of life at our age is tough, at Wills age, it's mentally paralyzing. Honestly, compared to being wheelchair or bed ridden, I'm doing fantastic. But, when it takes over an hour to change out a shower nozzle when you used to be able to do it in 10-15 minutes...well, it's not on antibodies top 10 things to do. Quinton, same to you, keep your chin up high. And as for Will...can you imagine how we, at his age, would feel about his permanent limitations? We are not going to live for another 50+ years, but he probably will. Sir, take care...hope you get past your issues quickly and limitation free!

Holy smoke! I am a newbie to this channel and this video was just suggested to me by KZbin! WOW! I just have to say WOW! I did NOT KNOW this backstory! First, I thought you were MUCH younger than you must be. Second, this video was packed full of very useful information. Third, you are like electricity looking for the path of least resistance! Fourth, every millennial in the world should watch this! EXCELLENT STUFF WILL - EVEN 2 YEARS LATER! ESPECIALLY FOR NOW! As a mom, I love the advice you offer to people and I WISH all young people (or all people) thought the way you do! so BENEFICIAL! Kudos to you for figuring a lot out early in your life! People get so attacked to THINGS without realizing that there is more to life!

One thing I'd like to point out about health insurance, because I know a lot of people disagree with Will in regards to him not having any. Often times hospitals and doctor's offices will give a discount to uninsured patients, and it's often a LARGE discount, upwards of 50%. In many cases, this discount makes it cheaper annually than paying large monthly premiums AND the huge annual deductible. I'm not recommending anyone go without health insurance because the future is unpredictable and it IS a huge gamble, but the discount for uninsured persons is a scenario I'm seeing played out often and it's actually BENEFITED the patient, whereas having insurance would have actually cost them more. Just food for thought.

William, you are like a younger and more brilliant version of myself. You see through how conventional ways of living buys into a life of servitude to that system. Always buy cash unless you can justify the leverage of credit. Always buy with a mind to the economy of the purchase. Beware of buying anything that depreciates. Read and research your own solutions to problems in your life. Know that you have to be your own advocate in financial and health issues. I started out learning from your battery advice videos. Now as I learn more about your past and health issues, that context makes me admire you all the more. I know you will survive, just as I have survived, by the power of your curiosity and cleverness. And yes, I too was homeless, and having the perspective of surviving that, in a way provides the confidence to live as creatively as you choose.

I bought a 1989 dodge caravan from my pastor for $400 in May. About 156,000 mi, ugly as all heck, some paint peeling, a few little dents, a little rust, but it gets me around with better gas mileage than my Suburban, and I am planning on doing some weekend trips in it. It was such a low investment that if it ever failed I barely lost anything.

Will, since you have suffered with nerve disease, I would like to ask a few questions. I had Carpel Tunnel surgery February 2017. St. Patrick's day, I couldn't get out of bed...horrible burning pain down both legs, so my only recourse was the Rescue Squad. Hospital diagnosis was Staph infection. So, massive antibiotics and home injections for a couple weeks. Blood work showed infection free, stopped antibiotics. Two weeks later, back in the hospital with Ostiomyolitis, IV antibiotics, home, infusion, clear again, 2weeks later, I shut down, hospital, SEPSIS!! Coma for 5 days, kidneys had shut down. I had some nerve damage, but the Sepsis effed me up. Couldn't set in the bed, couldn't hardly move my legs. In the hospital for a month and physical therapy for 5 weeks...then Insurance kicked me out, even though moving around requires leg braces and a walker for short distances. A year later, I am still on oral antibiotics(I wasn't given them till I had Sepsis...if I had them, I wouldn't have had Sepsis.) I take 1800mg gabapentin, 40 mg Norco, 2250mg Robaxin, 1000 Keflex daily. I take other things, but these are specifically connected to the nerve damage. I can manage with 2 canes for a bit, but not miles. Still have the braces and the right leg is still noticeably smaller than the left. I have no ability to move my right foot at all. Still right much pain. Doing things beyond the necessary takes rest and planning. My Cardigan rhythm is still a mess. I can drive, live alone, and manage, basically. Docs said it could take 2-3 years to heal. My legs are mostly numb, my butt is numb, and intimacy is not possible. To say I am very bummed about my situation would be the understatement of the last 1000 years. Any words of wisdom? If you prefer to respond privately, I am more than happy to share contact info. Take care, and thank you. You ARE an inspiration.

Regarding 2 or 3 percent on a house, the thing is that it is a return on the whole value of the house, and your down-payment is only a fraction of that. So you invest a part but get that 2 or 3 percent return on the whole. That can be a very good return. Especially these days, when you can't just stick money in the bank and expect a return that outpaces inflation anymore. And you don't have to pay any taxes on your profit, not for a very long time if ever(you could be dead by then), or take any money out to pay taxes on that return while it is invested, unlike the case with, say, stock dividends. What's more, home ownership for the first 3 years is essentially free, because the tax deductions are so large. Further, you can live in that investment, which you can't do in, say ... a stock portfolio. In many places in the U.S. it is cheaper to buy than to rent, and if you hadn't bought ... what would be the cost of renting? That needs to be added into the mix to get to a true profit/loss number. So the real return on home ownership can be very high even if it doesn't appreciate quickly. Bear in mind too that often even wealthy people do not pay for homes in cash, as the tax benefits can make a mortgage pay for itself for years, and in the meantime they can invest the extra money into other investments. If you read about the investments of many very well to do people, hardly any of it is liquid, because liquid money is dead money. It represents opportunity, but not yet taking advantage of that opportunity.

It's kind of strange how different the world is. In everyday life I never think about healthcare since it is free (in my country, and in most countries... as it is often considered a core pillar of society) You're a brilliantly smart man Will. But listening to your story, and this I just kind of wish you lived somewhere where society would help YOU. You're giving so much back, to people, to society (through your entrepreneurship). We are very similar creatures. I also have negligible living expenses... 140$ + 150$ for food, and around 50$ for private consumption per month. Which allows me to pursue my dreams without the worry of becoming sick. Having that ease of mind really help me being ambitious, while at the same time not getting an ulcer from stress.

Cheers Will; very Interesting multi topic discussion. I appreciate your willingness to be open in trying to encourage and help others along their own paths. What sets you apart from your other KZbin/VanLife/RV living peers; is that you willingly Challenge yourself. I see others whom are scared of the "mysterious 13" ways, that Challenges are Hard Work; especially if you take on some new task, or area of unknown knowledge. Your Mind your Grit and Determination, are one's greatest assets, you show this in your actions and videos. Your associates could learn a thing from you; if they were not afraid of hard work...... Listening to you speak about your future and home buying; makes me wonder if you have considered Building your own Domicile ? I am a home"Owner" and think with your skills and mindset that buying land, and then building your own custom home; would be so awesome for your channel and future. Think of the many possibilities; in that going with a cash based approach, the magnificent leverage you would have when dealing with builders, tradesmen etc. ?? ...... Lastly I wonder about your thoughts upon this bright future we all want, and if you have considered that our economic climate might seriously change suddenly. I might be an alarmist in that I personally am preparing for a worst case scenario with my future plans. Yes we are all in varying situations which warrant vastly different approaches. However I do so feel that our future here in this good ole US of A will change and alter drastically in these coming 5 to 10 to 25 years. This dynamic world must be considered. I am very concerned with this fact, because of my age 57 and preparing to semi-retire early and await it out until I can start gathering my Social Security. I digress only to seemingly explain my situation. But this topic of "Future" interests me greatly, and I think that others in your viewing circle would also be very interested in your thoughts on this issue of the 5 to 10 to 25 years into our future..... Thanks for sharing; it is very heartening to see younger smart people that are focused, and are again willingly Challenging themselves such as you Will Prowse. Keeping it Real, it isn't that mysterious is it ?

Great video! Great books! The house is never really yours. If you stop paying prop taxes, some states can/will sell it from under your feet, through corrupt auctions, for just the taxes owed. I grew up camping in RVs when I was younger and it was the most awesome part of my life. If I'd hit a lotto, I'd buy one and explore the us the rest of my life. Don't knock that lifestyle, till you try it. We had a boat & an RV and we explored/fished the Fl keys for years. You are right on point! Health is a priority. Money and no health nullifies it all. Very impressive. You have some great advice. Over the past 15 years I flipped/rented about 45 houses in the Phoenix Metro area. It did not make me rich and I made a lot of mistakes but overall, I was very fortunate to have made the money I did. Now, homes in Phoenix are overvalued but people keep pouring in here and paying ridiculous prices for ghetto homes. It is a bit of a catch 22 as I don't see how that will benefit them in the long run but rent is even more ridiculous.
